  1. There has been quite a few doubters about Brian Battie from a few people but I thought he was one bright spot in the TAMU game. He lead the team in YPR (7.4), excluding Sean Jackson’s one rush, and YPC (11.5). I think if the coaches do decide sometime this year to go with Robbie, he could be a great back in the Z/R and short passing game.  Perhaps a Shaun Shivers type, but more elusive and less physical. I hate it that Alston is injured, but I’m also confident in Hunter, Cobb, and Battie.

    • Sean White has attempted more passes on 3rd down than any other QB in the SEC and the second fewest pass attempts on 1st down than any starting QB in the SEC. This must change for White to reach his full potential.

Yikes. Looks like an easy defensive game plan for the opposition.

It'll be JJ. I can feel it. One thing I think will go into that decision, along with SW not having the legs, is the fact that we open this season on a hugggge stage. There is no way JF3 would come out of that game mistake free.

Agreed, I don't think they can put JFIII out there this early but I also don't see JJ coming out of the game mistake free. I just hope whoever starts can get the W and build on that confidence.

Please tell me KP lost the neck brace now that he's playing tailback. I think it was okay from his hback position last season, but definitely not at tailback - makes you look stiff.

He reminds me of James Bostic and Bostic is one of my favorite all-time Auburn players because he was like an ox with the rock.

I actually like it. It's like a badge for tough guys/ big hitters. You don't wear a neck brace unless you plan on putting someone of their rear end. But I agree it does make you look a little stiff.

Jeremy Johnson sat out scimmage; Sean White and JF3 got the reps

And then there were two. I still believe it will be Sean starting, but it looks like they are giving JF3 every chance to win the job (as 23 has stated).

Or maybe Jeremy is the clear starter and he wanted to figure out who the 2nd stringer was :homer:

Do we give it to the sweep guy in the wildcat very often? It seemed like the guy receiving the snap seemed to always keep the ball.  I could be totally off base here though.

Jason Smith scored on that play in the Arkansas game, but yes its normally a keep.

I think what 23 is saying is, if JF3 is able to pass at X % of SW (pick a threshold %), then JF3's running ability more than offsets the difference, adds the benefit of putting more pressure on the defense and opening up the offense for others. I'm not sure what there is to argue with a logical statement like that. That statement doesn't mean it will happen. To that point, his opinion is that JF3 will eventually meet that threshold and make it happen.

Exactly, the defense having to focus more on the run will make for easier throws for the QB. A la Jeremy Johnson vs Arkansas 2014. However, in the redzone our passing game is limited which is another reason I think JFIII can be more valuable.

  7. I wouldn't mind Sean being the starter and bringing JFIII in for redzone packages. Maybe that will take place of the Kerryon wildcat package. I know we got a heck of a field goal kicker but I'd really like to see him kicking extra points this year instead of field goals.
