  1. This has always been my challenge. We are so predictable. We have even had an opposing team defensive player say so to the press. Running up the gut every first down for the sake of "establishing the ground game" was absolutely toxic to our offensive potency. I thought Lashlee was able to switch this up a little with passing on first and second downs and we saw some success in this regard.
  2. Good observation and the easily what gets me most fired up about this game. My hope is that Bama comes in over confident thinking they got us and we come in like we're playing Kentucky ready to ball out. Arch rivals at home, crowd will be raucous. This could be the game where we really establish our identity and style of play and really come together as a team. Lots at stake here! WDE!
  3. Have to agree with this solid post game commentary. I think that UK players were as bewildered at the refs as we were. That was a strange game although the fifth foul on Wiley may have been a moving screen. I hope the zebras just let the guys play this week. That was a whistle every time you turned around. Dunans showed amazing ability to be a Slasher to the hoop and it really caught UK off guard (npi). He damn near stole the show. LSU and Bama will see the tape and be ready for him, but we'll see if he stays ahead of the posse'. Should be fun to watch. We were really up for that game and I hope that there is residual spillover in the LSU game. No spillover needed for the Alabama game as they will be up for the rivalry. Not saying they are not getting themselves up for every game, but there is getting up for a game and there is getting up for UK and we all know that there is a higher gear where players come out of their shoes from the sheer adrenalin of the moment and that was one such moment. This is a big week at home and we could really find our stride with 2 Ws, just like we did with Oklahoma and UConn during Mustapha's hometown parade. WDE!
  4. AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn forward Danjel Purifoy has made progress in his recovery from an ankle injury, but it won't be enough to put him back on the court for the Tigers' game Saturday at No. 6 Kentucky. Thanks 57. Well, this may very well be an "Exhibition game". I think I know what the Cats will be exhibiting, I just hope that the product that we put out on the floor today is worthy of this team's promise. We go to college to get an education and one thing is for certain which is that we will be getting an education today in more ways than one.
  5. Is Purifoy expected to play? Sorry, I am traveling and not watching the updates very closely. Would love to see Bryce Brown get his mojo going and play some great D. Monk has a size advantage but if he goes inside and we double him, he has talented help to take the open shots. Let's shoot well, keep our cool when they get hot, and hit our free throws while executing on defense. Big ask I know. I really hope that Heron and Purifoy are healthy to keep them from ripping the lid off of the game. War Eagle!
  6. Kentucky is probably going to want to settle a score in Rupp Arena and they are going to be up for this game. I hope that our guys keep their cool give them a respectable game which I believe we are capable of doing. Should be an interesting face off of their young guns against ours. With the likelihood of Malik Monk going electric on us, we have got to execute on defense. He is going to get his points, but I hope we can play smart and make it a game. As with UGA and Vandy, the elite talent guards seem to get our number at some point during the game and we haven't responded well.
  7. Great points, especially when directed at a young team like ours. Then again, CBP has plenty of close game experience, and he transformed into a wide-mouthed frog during the final tic of that last game. Cracks me up thinking about it. Course I was in cardiac arrest so what do I know?

  9. I would have to agree. Really hoping Brown can come in off the bench to bring the D on their 2 guard and Horace can be a presence underneath. He's our Dennis Rodman and his apology on Twitter yesterday seemed legit but hell, I'm easy. It is not I who can cast a stone in his direction. That's for certain, but rules are rules and "if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough" and we already know he's tough. Another measuring stick will go up on Austin Wiley tonight. He'll be drinking from a fire hose, but I am a believer in this young man. Ready for some AU Hoops and would be OK to get the W with no buzzer beater this time!
  10. Good stuff from the Professor as expected. Coach Pearl says that he is "extremely excited" about Wiley joining the team so let's see how this plays out. In his first game with us. Fortunately for AU, Mercer does not have the big man that can be our undoing. So, I see Wiley immediately helping out on the boards and boxing out. Let's do this!
  11. Thanks for this educational and thought provoking post. Great, balanced reporting in your observations by hitting on our shortcomings (free throws, rebounding and average defensive play) as well as high points (point guard play, depth and 3 pt. shooting.) You cannot help but be encouraged by this team and the fact that we are even talking about the tournament at 6-1 and a chance to go 7-1 with an RPI that is on the rise. CBP is doing something very special here and this young roster is fun to watch.
