I've been in this boat for the last 5 yrs.

The only coaching candidate I've seen rumored that could end my apathy and unenthusiastic mood for AU football is Coach Prime.

What if he doesn't have any interest in Auburn? Asking for a friend...

  2. Unfortunately this is the reality of college football. The game that most of us grew up loving is over! We now have free agency without contracts. If a player isn't playing as much as they would like, offered more money, jealousy or you name the reason, they will transfer with no consequence to anyone but the school that spent money and time recruiting them. Jermaine Burton is a prime example. This is ugly and it will get worse. It will be interesting to see how the super conferences shake out and how many Division 1 schools(Troy,  South Alabama, etc.) are left out. If you want to watch "pure" college football, you will have to start following the FCS or Division II schools.

I hope that the PTB pull their collective heads from their anus and hire a FREAKING Athletic Director and start the process of moving forward with a new coach!!! THIS should have been done in February!

Wait till you hear/read what may come out after he’s gone. As I posted before, it would really be better for Auburn if it doesn’t come out.

So it may or may not come out? IF you know something spill it! If not, just another BS post!

Seems like if so many knew how little talent/depth we had expectations for Harsin and co., would have been much lower.

We have the dumbest fanbase in sports...

    I do see the arguments:

    Dell - Experience:

Harris County HS (2002) -    Defensive backs coach
Greenville HS (GA) (2003–2004) -     Defensive coordinator
        Carver-Columbus HS (GA) (2005–2012) -    Head coach
        Auburn (2013) -     Analyst
Georgia Southern (2014) -     Running backs coach
Georgia Southern (2015) -     Assistant head coach & running backs coach
Georgia Southern (2015) -     Interim head coach (1-0 Record)
Georgia (2016–2018) -     Assistant head coach & running backs coach
Georgia (2019–present) -     Run game coordinator & running backs coach

Take away his AU degree and would you still recommend him for a HC job in the SEC West?

    Prime - Experience:

Prime Prep Academy (2012–2013) -    Head coach
        Triple A Academy (2015–2016) -     Head coach
Trinity Christian School (TX) (2017–2020) -     Offensive coordinator
Jackson State (2020–present) -     Head coach

       As a Coach:

        SWAC champion (2021)
SWAC Coach of the Year (2021)
        Eddie Robinson Award (2021)

    Grimes - Experience:

    1995    Rice (GA)
    1996–1997    Texas A&M (GA)
    1998–1999    Hardin–Simmons (OL)
    2000    Boise State (OL)
    2001–2003    Arizona State (OL/RGC)
    2004–2006    BYU (OL)
    2007–2008    Colorado (AHC/OL/RGC)
    2009–2012    Auburn (OL)
    2013    Virginia Tech (OL)
    2014–2017    LSU (OL/RGC)
    2018–2020    BYU (OC)
    2021–present    Baylor (OC/TE)

The above is what people are arguing who should take over a potential powerhouse in the SEC West.  I just don't see Dell as a HC.  How many position coaches were hired and successful without coordinator experience?  Probably less than a handful.  Doubt many in the modern era.  Recruiter pretty good from what I understand but Kirby is the driving force there at the state school that is an advantage.

Grimes: I think his offense needs that above average QB to be successful.  This year his QB didn't get any experience from last year (I see a problem in this as a coach).  Yes they lost a lot of people but recruiting and the portal should have been a win-win.

Prime: Not much College experience but has been successful running and jump starting a program.  Have to tip the hat to that.

Bottom line in my opinion: Dell Left field hire big gamble maybe good recruiting, Grimes more of a safe hire but will take a while to get to where he needs to be, Prime flashy hire, lots of pub and probably good recruiting.  Will definitely bring in more attention and maybe some more NIL money.  Who knows maybe he can get some of that apple money...

Just curious, but how many starting QBs transferred in the portal? I keep seeing people say that all of Auburn's, and by default every other team's,  problems could have been resolved with recruiting or the portal. If it was that easy, then why hasn't every school improved? Just because you bring in new players, that doesn't guarantee a better performance by a team. Look at the NFL, the worst team gets the best draft picks and they usually suck regardless.

That’s not what he said on todays Locked On podcast.

He was on a local sports show in South Alabama this morning at roughly 830 and said that it has changed. He mentioned the guy from UConn and Freeze. Hoke said if so, it wouldn't be Grimes as HC. Everyone is guessing and changing their thoughts often.

Would it be terrible to say that Rhule as HC, Deion as OC and maybe coach Boom as DC? Hard to just toss out the possibility of Rhule. They did beat Texas that year and Texas ended up as #25. In the conference championship game they took #7 Oklahoma to OT (Oklahoma was one of the teams in the playoffs). Could he recruit....4th in recruiting in Big 12 over the last 4 years. If we put Deion in as the the OC that may become a moot point. I can't say he is my #1 choice for HC but who knows.

HELL NO! I don't want Muschump anywhere near Auburn!

Grimes to me has proven himself outside of Auburn on multiple occasions and is up for a HC job somewhere. He is the only “Auburn Man” I feel would make a great hire. Other programs are giving him a look as well.

Saying Grimes and Deion are the only two realistic options is why we are in the mess we are in though. Miami stole Cristobal, USC stole Riley, LSU stole Kelly. If we get our house in order we can hire almost anyone we want not named Saban, Kirby, or Dabo. With that being said, I agree with the sentiment if the status quo continues.

What makes you think this? We haven't ever hired a top name coach and it won't happen this time. That is why we are in this mess, because the PTB and fanbase always thinks a better coach is around the corner.

Surprise me, please, and hire a proven coach! Even then, half of the dumbest fanbase in sports will be pissed and ready to fire whomever is hired.

It is what it is at the moment. We are in Vandy territory when it comes to recruiting. Dead last in the SEC at the moment… let that sink in.
And before anybody says that he was a grade risk, we knew that when we took his commitment.
Honestly we are about to receive another commitment from a wide receiver who is good, but as a whole this perception is terrible. We only have seven commitments with three months left to recruit.

We publicly put our coach on the hot seat for a few malcontents and kill our recruiting for both 2022(transfers) and 2023. We have the dumbest group of money people, along with the worst fanbase, in all of sports. It will only be kids that truly love Auburn committing to this staff at this point. Maybe if we win 8 or more things will change, but the dumb dumbs are trying to turn us into Nebraska and it's working.

Also, I'm tired of us having so little success in the Columbus/Phenix City recruiting area. We need some wins there almost as bad as we need wins on the field.

We have NEVER had a lot of success recruiting from the area, especially from Central in Phenix City. The area is a THUGA and bammer cess pool. I have family and friends in the area and have spent a LOT of time there. Which car dealership in Columbus repo'd Travis Carroll's truck?

Anyone heard of Tank being banged up? Not sure if this is BS or not it was posted on TNOS.  Word is not serious being held out of full contact until game week, though.

He should be held out just for precautionary reasons. He should be the focus of our offense....Tank and the TE's should be the gameplan until the QB(whomever that is) gets dialed in.

Hey! Gus' first recruit at UCF was an OT!

He learned... Too late. But he learned 😅

I would love to know why Gus didn't recruit to need and why he stopped running the hurry up? It was so frustrating to watch him out smart Dinky, but seem like he was clueless against Richt, Smart, Orgeron and Miles. Hell, even Muschump beat him. He and Tubberville seemed very similar in that we would have good recruiting classes, but seldom recruited to need.

I keep reading this.  I was pretty underwhelmed with our D last year, until the Bama game.

Did anyone think he did a great job coaching up the D?

Mississippi State says NO! He sucked and I'm glad that he is gone! It's my belief that he was forced on Harsin and part of our attitude issues. He damn sure didn't put Smoke in check with his BS and play.
