Freeze and Caddy (and others) have been traveling non-stop on the recruiting trail for a few days now, and I imagine they're exhausted.
But I sure am anxious to hear the OC and DC hires. And confirmation of the WR Heard hire. He's a good one.

Wait just to clarify I think he said that about Nix not Thornton.
Now I am confused
Yeah, me too. I thought the WR coach Heard was announced.

My friend, I think your logic is backwards.
He has already done everything not to deserve any benefit of doubt... because of the mistakes he's made. He is the coach now for Auburn in spite of every reason he should not be... there can only be doubt until proven otherwise.
OK J, you may be right.
In the mean time, let's fish sometime.

But is it change when the only time you take accountability for your actions is when you're forced to? That's my core issue. Hugh Freeze has a laundry list of issues that folks have worked overtime to dismiss or excuse... the only instance of him taking responsibility for his actions has been admitting his infidelity - and even then he refused to admit calling the escort services.
Now I've said it elsewhere, I would love to be swayed. I don't believe anyone is irredeemable. But one instance of remorse in the face of a career-long pattern of criminally stupid decision-making does not convince me that he is anything other than a lying, sleezy creep who thinks he can win his way into people's good graces.
I can't refute your stance, and probably wouldn't if I thought I could. The man has made very bad mistakes, and may be a total snake oil salesman for all I know.
But he's our coach now, and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, until and unless he shows that he doesn't deserve it.
I can be gullible at times...

War Eagle Coach Freeze. It’s time. I got news for everyone. Freeze is pissed and the SEC will be put on notice.
I'm out of likes tonight, so I'll just say "Hell yes".

Sorry, but I find it hard to support a coach who needs his internet usage monitored like a child and a PR firm hired to mitigate the public backlash from the school's own fanbase.
The shorter his tenure is here, the happier I will be. I am disappointed and frankly embarrassed how deceptive this farce of a coaching "search" that has turned out. We hired the coach our boosters have wanted since February. No other school would touch Freeze despite being a program builder. Why is that? Perhaps it's because our vetting process didn't go any further than the phone call to YellaFella.
And then rather than address fan concerns, John Cohen answers zero questions and trots Freeze out like...
A few years from now, Freeze will have proven himself a changed man and a great football coach for AU.
I made mistakes when I was young too. More than I'd like to admit. I'm glad I changed, and that I'm not still being judged for my former bad behavior.

I think you're selling Caddy short here. He's too smart to take a purely ceremonial position here..... after what he just did, his stock has never been higher. If that were true, he'd go somewhere else for a more substantial role.
I don't think I'm selling him short. He did a good job. But his elevation in title was ceremonial. A pat on the back for a job well done in an interim role. A very big "thank you". And also sort of "throwing a bone" to the misguided people who thought Caddy was ready for a HC job at AU.

So what are the responsibilities of an associate head coach?
Prolly not much. A title, a figure head. Guess he would take over if Hugh gets tossed from a game.
But it's good that AU and Freeze honored him with the title change.

Welcome Coach Hugh Freeze! And glad Caddy is still there.

There has actally been at least one on here calling him a predator. That's what I'm referring to
OK, I'm not trying to villify you. It's an emotional time and we're all trying to adjust.
Above all, WDE. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Welcome HC Hugh Freeze!!! There are plenty of us who won't judge your past. You deserve another chance, and hope you will give it the credence it deserves.
Nick Saban begged the SEC to allow him to hire Freeze, but the SEC wouldn't allow it at that time.
Welcome CHF!!!

Holy snot here it is twitter mob. Nobody wants the facts . They just want to call folks out with baseless horse s*** versus looking themselves in the mirror. This is way bigger than just a football coach hire.
That will run its course and be over in a couple weeks. Like a bad case of diarrhea running its course through a big family.

I wonder when the Freeze press conference will be held.
And I wonder how long it will take him to announce OC and DC.
Now for the important question: Gus Bus, Lane Train, Arson Harsin......Freeze Breeze? No, probably not.
But what will it be?

I think the backlash will be less severe than anticipated and will be over quickly. Especially if we get a good haul in the portal and recruiting jumps to top 10.
-
I'm fine with hiring Freeze. I think that as far as coaching goes, he is better than just about anyone mentioned in our coaching search.

Yahoo Sports is reporting that AU and Freeze are finalizing negotiations as we speak.

do you want a hired gun that is a sleeze as long as he can win? since college football is not really amateur should this still matter? some say all coaches have skeletons in their closet. or do you have serious ties to auburn like being a lifelong fan? i want to win bad as the last four years have been hard on me but i just am not ready to take a chance on a coach that might end up dragging us through the mud. i am thinking of freeze right now but it could be different folks right? i mean good lord we just hired a coach many thought was classy and here we are. anyway i thought it might be fun to see who would sell their soul and who would rather go the safe route if there is such a thing. i think this is a great discussion topic but can we keep it civil? no bullying please just because you might not like someones opinion.
I would like to see the moderators make a sticky post closed to replies that lays out the FACTS of what Freeze was guilty of. Because I'm not sure, and there are too many conflicting opinions on this web site.

You're talking about the PTB (Rane) not having patience and will grow weary with no Natty within 2 years but you also seem just as impatient. Your comments make you sound like you're on the ledge and you may jump because of what the media is telling you. When Cohen gave his introductory press conference, he said it's a long process and it will get done when it gets done. Our fans were 100% behind him after that press conference. Fast forward to today and it is playing out exactly like Cohen said it would but the fans have turned on him for no reason whatsoever.
That's one thing Harsin said that was correct; "Do you want it done right or do you want it done right now?"
OK, I guess I'm impatient. I am. Just anxiously commenting...
-
If this hire is a completely (yet) nobody, they won't last until the PTB (Rane) grows weary of a non-existent natty within two years.
I'm very afraid we are teetering on the edge of another Harsin-type hire. Very afraid.
Actually, terrified.

This is all making me very sick at my stomach.
We had the most attractive head coaching job open this year, by far. And it seems we can't get a "splash hire" coach interested.
