  1. this was a good interview.  That being said he got some facts wrong, he said it was around the South Carolina game the story broke.  It was before the Georgia game.  He said he had to play the LSU game etc. with this hanging over him.  Unless Maybe Chizik heard it was coming and it was kept quiet for 4-5 weeks?   Also he indicated he was ineligible for a game and missed a game, I know we declared him ineligible before the Georgia game and I think the NCAA made him eligible immediately due to the fact it was his dad that took the money.    I don't think he missed a game though.

More curious if I am remembering the events correctly or not?

I’d bet freeze’s past is even more of a reason why they had to be dismissed. It doesn’t look good for a coach that was fired amid infidelity to retain coaches that have done the same thing.

This is definitely a part of it.

You may not. It’s not allowed. 😄

I also don’t do anything else “pot” related, before you go implying that, lol.

All I’m saying is, we all knew last year that freeze would replace the entire previous staff, eventually. We also knew that he absolutely could not replace caddy or zach last year from a PR perspective. Still can’t. They have to leave on their own. Zach “upgraded” to DB coach at UH. Caddy, unfortunately, couldn’t find an “upgrade” from associate head coach. That is irrefutable. It is what it is. What it is is just bidness. But what do I know? I’m just a “dolt”, “bull****ter”, and “pot stirrer”.

Let's just put it to you this way, on Dec. 1 if you asked CHF he would have said Cadillac and Zac would be on his staff.  That was the plan.  Something happened, the university got involved and them staying was just not feasible.  The way it has been handled is an attempt to save face for both coaches.

There are people here who actually do know things about this situation that you clearly do not.  And they are telling you that neither of these resignations were made to happen just to get Freeze's guys in here.  It's simply not true. So no, you are not free to imply anything you want.  Not when it's complete bull****.

    This times 1,000.

My doubts on this situation are not directed at you, personally (or any other mod), so please don’t take it that way, but if this was not Freeze’s intention then it is a WAY, WAY too convenient coincidence that makes it ALMOST too convenient for some to believe.
Look, we all know and everyone warns us about what happens to assistant coaches when a new head coach is hired. Freeze came in to a situation where it was virtually impossible from a PR perspective to fire Caddy, and to a slightly lesser degree, Etheridge. Now, a year later, it still is. The only way to put a positive spin on it is for Caddy to move on to a better position or to plant a seed that insinuates something salacious that takes it out of Freeze’s hands. The first option didn’t happen, so…….

I guess we will see, soon, why Etheridge has to go. I guess that won’t have anything to do with just bringing in Freeze’s guy either?

This twitter post by Charles Goldberg should give you some more insight.  It was indeed a university decision and involved lawyers.

What if you jumped up and caught it? Is catching a ball illegal batting? Why is batting a FG attempt away at the goalpost different than batting it away 6 feet from the kicker's toe? When does time expire against legal batting or illegal batting? That rule is ludicrous. Now if you jump, grab the crossbar and boost or stabilize yourself while batting it away then yeah I can see that.

Can't say I liked seeing a ref saying in effect that if we call a safety on auburn we are in trouble. I have always suspected that refs make up their minds about a play before the play. For example IB 2 years ago; I am totally convinced the crew were all saying to themselves " I'm not going to call holding in the end zone and hand this game to Auburn".  How else can you explain three refs with perfect views ignoring egregious holding on bammers right tackle in the end zone on 3rd down. If he calls that, we get two points, the ball, we run out the clock, and the game. Absolutely no question in my mind that decision was made.

I don't think this is on the officials at all.  They are just saying, this is an obscure rule and if it were to happen the fans are going to lose their minds.  I am so glad they didn't have the chance and I am sure they are too.

I still don’t get it. How is this different from a block? Is it kind of like the goal tending rule in basketball, where you can only hit it while it’s going up?

There was a story in I think Sports Illustrated that quoted Buddy Davidson saying something to the effect "Chris Davis is a good athlete if it is close he can jump up and knock it away." I don't think this rule is well known at all.

  8. Hi all, I am updating my home office from an Auburn theme to more of a family theme.  I am listing these items for sale if anyone is interested.  A framed Auburn Creed, a framed What is Auburn, an Auburn snowman and a Samford Hall collectible.

I made it to the Arkansas game that year with my brother. If you recall, Arkansas really had our number around that time. I remember on the first drive we called a fake handoff where Campbell hid the ball behind his leg, stood there for what seemed forever, then the field opened up and Campbell hit Aromashodu for a long TD. It was like they decided to immediately tell Arky "this isn't going to go the way you think it is."

That line was so good that Campbell really didn't need to hide the ball.

Pretty sure that was a double reverse back to Campbell then back to Aromoshudu.  I am almost positive.
