I have been DYING to post this email, but I uncharacteristically showed restraint and waited until today. And why today, do you ask? Because the 2005 AUBURN TIGER FOOTBALL SEASON STARTS ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!! That’s right, September 3rd is just around the corner, and NIP be damned, I decided I just couldn’t wait any longer! I hereby cordially invite each and every one of you reading this thread to join in on the 2005 Touchdown Auburn Bowl – and yes, the invitation is even extended to you corndogs, pork rinds, leg humpers, condoms, felons, banty roosters, lizards, laters, moo cows, sharecroppers and, last and least, even you bammers are welcome.
For those of you new to our little family, here’s how it works:
Each week, I will post a list of games with point totals assigned. You post your picks in the thread, and you gets the assigned points for every game you pick correctly. No picking against a spread – just straight win or lose. At the end of the bowl season, the one with the most points wins!! Our defending champion is eagle76, who came from behind at the last possible second to beat BustEmBigBlue, who had held the lead pretty much all season. So see? Fun! Excitement! Suspense! Drama!
The one caveat – in fact, the ONLY real rule - is that once you start, you HAVE to be faithful! If you forget to post one week, you won’t be counted in the final round-up at the end of season, altho I will still post your weekly results if you choose to post in other weeks. Keeping up with folks who drifted in and out just got too complicated. If you know you are going to be busy or traveling one week, feel free to email or PM me your picks in advance, and I will be happy to post them for you. My friend John, who is stationed in Iraq, is going to play this way, via email.
One request too - if possible, please only post the names of the teams you choose each week - the whole thing about cutting and pasting the list and then bolding your choices doesn't always work, and makes it harder to read - so if you just list your picks, that would be great. If you accidentally skip one, I will PM you and let you know.
As for me, I promise to post each week’s list of games as early as possible so you will have right up until Saturday morning to post. Scores will be posted as early as possible the following week, but it may not always be first thing Monday morning – I still gotta look like I am working, you know! Some weeks have Thursday and sometimes even WEDNESDAY games, so keep that in mind. If you post late in those weeks, you will simply get a “no score†for any games that happened prior to your post – and I DO check time stamps!
If you think I made an error in your score, please feel free to email me and tell me. It is not unheard of for me to mistype or transpose numbers – we had over 60 people playing last year!! I will be happy to correct any errors.
One last thing - if you want to make comments to other people, etc., that's great, but do it in the same post as your picks - I use the "Total number of Replies" to double check and make sure that I have everyone's picks logged in. Extraneous posts throw this number off.
