Because he's clearly less good now than when he was a 5 star.

Auburn Nation behind you 100% Nick, good luck with the rehab.

What cannot be said about most offenses is the part about the Gus playbook (and his choice of when to use what) that seems to get opened up when we succeed on first down.
-
Thanks stat! (IMO our being only #26 on per avg rush inside the red zone with Cam in 2010 is stunning). For success in Gus' O we need him to open up his play book and for him to do that, we need significant yardage on first down. That IMO is THE stat we need for success on O.

I know it says we're recruiting him exclusively as a RB right now and that makes sense but the few highlights of him on D show nice closing speed and a nasty streak. (cough cough) Rudy Ford (cough cough).

Great Stat, thanks. This offense is so often pigeonholed & oversimplified by media. Goes without saying that other speed O's lack Gus Malzahn (& disciples') specific game time input/talent(s) but Gusball assumes college defenses - unlike pros - do not have enough defenders across the board that are fast, fit and SAVVY enough to stop its variety WHEN INSERTED AT THE RIGHT TIME by Gus et al. The play by play judgment of Art Briles et al is not Malzahn/Lashlee's - for better or worse. That's a HUGE subjectivity that defies objective analysis and that the press can't nail down. Like any O, Gusball assumes players execute and true, there are some situations where Gus & the Gusettes upping tempo is more likely to happen than others, but this O is heavily dependent on our SPECIFIC coach(es) observing the SPECIFIC situation in the game at hand.

Recruits won't argue what "for a while" means - we're 6 - 10 in the SEC since 2013 and trending in the wrong direction. The response to that is of course that since the early 2000's, Auburn blasts out a top 5 caliber team every 3-4 years with often some pretty dicey results in between. Let's see, 2013 was how long ago?

Excellent, lionheart! Vern would go into a fetal position.

A defensive player with "TD" as his nickname? (the canuck ducks). I mean, uh, he can call himself whatever he wants.

6'3", 206 out of Jacksonville. He told 247 Sports and Fanbuzz that he will choose between Florida State and Auburn at "some point this season". Also "they're exactly even. Auburn, I'm big on Auburn. I always have been. I'm also big on FSU". Knowing Gus' success getting early commitments that stick from highly rated QBs (Burns, White) I thought this worthy of a thread. Guess no stars yet for 2018 guys but he's currently rated by some as the top QB in the nation. He visits the Plains September 26 for the Miss.State game and Nov. 28 for Bama.
Update: 12/05/15 - Joey commits to AU!

Considering everything a kicker is expected to do (fieldgoals, long & in the clutch, and prevent kickoff returns) Duval, Bynum, Del Greco, Parkey.

Auburn beat one of Spurrier's best UF teams that year and several other very good teams to go undefeated but what I remember clear as a bell is Auburn fans (being Auburn fans, always children of the excessively humble Shug Jordan) after the season were pretty much like "we don't need to play for the national title with this over-accomplishing team anyway, we'd get killed". Bleacher Report calls the 1993 Auburn team "the best team money could buy". Are they owned by BSPN?

I gather "Woody worked with the 3rd string" means he actually ran some plays? Any reports on how "he who shall not be mentioned" did?
