During tonight's ESPN game he said (no kidding) "Louisville should definitely be @ #3, but they are not the third best team in the country." Okay, why do we have a poll system again? This just in, if UL can get by powerhouse RUTGERS, they'll probably be #2 after Mich/OSU and may well PLAY FOR the national championship because "the team that's not (even) the third best" gets in by attrition? Idiot.

Well, he's right. The way the BCS works, Louisville should be #3 in the BCS. But he is also right that there is no way that they are the 3rd best team in the country.

Just remember, that the goal of the BCS is to make sure #1 plays #2 for the national championship.

I hope that they do play for the MNC. And then maybe some of these 1-loss teams that are better than them will get on the CTT bandwagon and listen to what he has been saying since 2004.

If Louisville plays for the MNC this year, there should be an armed rebellion by football fans and coaches. Heck, let's go back to the 10-different-poll system where everybody claims whatever they want to.

The BCS was not a step forward from that system...it was a step BACKWARD!

The only step forward would be a playoff.

Opponents of a playoff say it puts too much importance on the post-season...minimizes the regular season games. This is a load of crap.

To the contrary, look at the BCS now. What happens when a team loses? They drop off the radar. Auburn is having a VERY GOOD season this year, but you would not know it from watching TV. USC is still a great team. Etc. etc. etc. But the ONLY THING that matters in the BCS is who is gonna play for that championship game.

As a UNA alum, I can tell you that the post-season playoffs are extremely exciting. The first half of the season is the "putting it together" part...the second half of the season, excitement builds up for each game. Because you know you have to win them to get in the playoffs. If you win enough to make it, you start playing for home field advantage. And then not only are you watching your team, you are watching everybody else to see who you are gonna play....where the game is gonna be, etc. There is a lot to it. And then you get to the playoff games and you have to win to continue.

Compare that to the BCS, where ESPN and voters control your destiny. :puke:

Agreed... two screw-ups in 3 years (2004 and this year) is too much.

Don't forget about 2003 when an Oklahoma team that lost the Big 12 Championship game played LSU. It could easily be argued that the one-loss USC team who lost early on in the year should have gone instead of the Oklahoma team that lost its last game.
