Position Numbers

OK guys. Looking at these numbers how many players at each position do you think we should sign this year? What positions do you guys think we really need to load up on?

QB:

With Cam having this year and 2011 to play, that graduates Caudle,Trotter will be a SR,Frazier(will he red-shirt)that only leaves us One year with Trotter(if he even starts)Frazier and Mosely on the roster at QB in 2012. Should we take another QB this year,or load up next year? I say next year.

Mario is the man but is gone after this year.O-mac will be a JR next year,and will he ever become an every down back? Crayton is gone after this year,did he ever even take a snap outside of the scout team? Hooper(see Crayton).Smith will be a SR.next year and seems to be relegated to the H-back position. That leaves Dyer as the lone (every down)back in 2011. I think we need to sign 2 or 3 backs this year. What do you guys think?

With Ziemba,Pugh,Eddins,Isom,Carroll,Berry,and Bostrom all leaving after this year and,Burgess,Kasper,Parmer,and Greene being all a little undersized and prob scout teamers that leaves Sullen(JR.next year),Mosley(SR next year),Gaydon(JC Transfer)and a bevy of Freshmen to fill the O-line next year. Despite what our numbers say I think we are actually very...very....thin at the O-line position. How many do we need to sign this year?

With Carter and Goggans headed to the NFL next year,we seem to be a little down on DE numbers as well.We signed a great class of DE last year and Bonomolo and Ford should see plenty of back-up time to prep them for next year while the frosh get prepared for SEC play. I think we did well enough last year in DE recruiting to put some of these freshmen in as well this year.I think signing a couple more quality DE's this year would be wise though.

Bynes and Stephens will be gone after this year,leaving us with no choice but to start some of the great talent we signed last year.Will they all pan out and be Auburn greats? None of us can answer that question right now.Will Eltoro ever break out of his shell?I think Auburn needs to sign 3 or 4 good LB's this year to keep the depth problems that plagued us last year from coming back to bite us.What do you guys think here?

With Savage,Etheridge,and Washington all headed elsewhere after this year there is not much proven depth behind at the DB spot.Thorpe,Hood,Bates,and McNeil have all shown that they can play but Thorpe,Hood and McNeil will be Sr's next year leaving us with a depth issue. Some of the freshmen will have to step up this year and play.We need to sign a bevy of DB's this year IMO and the coaches seem to be going after the best.How many do you guys think we need to bring in?

Sorry for the long post but I thought actually looking at our roster at each position would give everyone a better idea of the numbers you guys feel we should sign this year at each position. We can have 85 total scholorship players on the team right?Auburn will graduate 26 Sr's next year if my count is correct. So if we have 26 open spots to sign incoming freshmen how do you guys see this class being broken down?I like :

I thought I read several articles saying both Moseleys would be playing OL instead of TE so that would mean sign more TEs this year..1 maybe 2 considering we dont really use them that much

Good post.  Agree with everything and especially the O and D-lines.  We only have 2 O-line committs (Reese & O'Reilly) and D-line needs it also.  We need 4-5 (at least) on each line.
