The thing about freeze is he will have another game like that. It’s too much of a pattern. He will win games that we probably shouldn’t win and give up a game we shouldn’t. But with extension of the post season, it may not completely reset the season.

Agree it is a pattern and great point about the new post season. I keep forgetting about that. The 12 team playoff gives us a much better shot. It's perfect for programs like ours that our traditionally in the top 10-15 range.

I don’t believe we will have a losing season but say we go 6-7 or something weird like that , I don’t see him getting fired either. He will get at least three years no matter what in my eyes.

Agree he will get at least 3 years no matter what.  I'm fine with that considering the mess he inherited.

But I predict his seat gets warm year 3. And if he has another NMSU type game in year 3, look out.

I agree with you. I’m to the point where I can’t get excited about Thorne. If we had Georgia’s OL? Sure. But we don’t.

It’s possible he has another season like he had at MSU. RPO and keeping defenses honest will determine a lot of his success. Can he tuck and run and hit those open receivers if the corners bite? That’s one way he can create explosive plays. I don’t think he can do it over the top consistently.

This is a normie take but if PT is struggling mid season, do you wash your hands with the guy and give the reins to HB or whoever is next man up? They’re selling the future and it could help with showing the next QB. Idk. This is probably the most pessimistic I’ve ever been about Auburn football. That Iron Bowl did me in.

I feel the same way. Still surprised we didn't bring in a transfer QB. Thorne will improve with the new surrounding cast, but he needs to be MUCH better than last season. And I don't see it happening. If he's struggling mid season, you have to try someone else.

  4. Catching up and this is an interesting, thoughtful conversation.

This country is filled with people that are on edge and carrying guns. We will only see more of this.

I do not think it is smart to open the door for a cop with a gun in your hand.

I think it is a call for reform IF the majority believe a cop is justified in killing a man that did not violate a single law.

The police have tremendous power. Even Spiderman knows "with great power comes great responsibility."

It should be more difficult to become a cop. Higher standards for weapons proficiency, problem solving skills, personality tests, physical tests, background checks, etc. Then give them better resources and training when they are on the job, including mental health therapy. If this means there are less cops, that's fine.

Depends on CFH’s long term strategy. Does he think he needs another top 10 or 5 class to survive past 2025? If so then we should expect 6-7 wins because 2024 will again be a “recruit first” season.

If he thinks he can coach and recruit at a high level then I think 7-8 maybe even 9 is possible. Recruiting shouldn’t be as difficult as last year as those relationships have been established. A CFH who is managing each and every game plan and who has a better understanding of his program should produce more wins.

He should be able to recruit another #10 class AND coach at a high level. Chizik and Gus had top 10 classes half the time and they never claimed they were too busy recruiting to coach. Plus, Saban's gone.

If Freeze isn't coaching as hard as he can in Year 2, we have hired the wrong guy. Either a non-competitive loser or someone in way over his head.

    Biden shows his true colors:

First of all, you said that no one even mentions the hostages anymore and that Biden fully supports Hamas. Neither of which are true. I posted a video of Biden mentioning the hostages, which should have made you feel better if you were genuinely concerned.

Second, I don't like Biden. It's not all Republican vs. Democrat for me.

Third, aid to Israel should be conditional. Both sides have committed atrocious acts. One difference is that we are all paying for Israel's weapons, not Palestine's. And Israel has bombed hospitals, killed rescue aid workers (including an American citizen), and killed thousands of civilians.

Now he is in full agreement with Hamas and telling Israel not to go into Rafa to finish the task at hand.  We still have American hostages being held there, does he care?  He doesn’t even mention them, nobody does anymore.

I watched Fox and msnbc last night do their daily analysis on the case. Wow.  Fox mocked everyone from judge to jurors and said case was total deep state frivolous, prosecution was doomed. MSNBC was all about the brilliance of the prosecution and whether trump could get jail time and which prison.

After watching both anyone would have total bipolar confusion. It further underscored why this country and this forum is sometimes a delusional mess.

It's difficult to watch Fox or msnbc. No news, just party line reactions to news. Can someone please just give me the information?

The smartest thing Trump ever did was tap into this with a pithy phrase. Media bias is real, so he can use "fake news" to combat any verified truth he doesn't like and a segment of the population will eat it up.

Better get used to it , oh wait we already are.

this will be the new normal for the majority of teams except the top 15- maybe 20.

Auburn is historically a top 15 football team. I'm willing to bet the NIL money for the football program is at least in the top 20. We are not some poverty program and we need to quit acting like one.

The problem is we hire coaches no one else wants. And then we act surprised when they suck.

Get the right coach in here and AU is easily a top 10-20 football program. With a chance to win at all if we go on a run at the right time in the 12 team playoff.

I have no idea on the number of people being coerced into being transgender either, but it was the only thing I could think that M4 meant as far as making choices that could impact your life down the road.

The other part was not about 'gay panic' just updating Webb as he was using a bit more 1990's numbers on LGBTQ population percentage.

This is mostly my view as well

The only time I can see it should be political are the times I disagree with something

Seriously though, 90% shouldn't be. However, that remaining lil bit... such as how old a person needs to be before undergoing surgery or taking hormone blockers. Is very much an issue our government should be into.

That's not the big deal you think it is these days. The population % isn't fringe anymore so there's not the weird stigma of 'coming out'. Think of how weird it would be for a kid to 'come out' as hetero when you were growing up.

Youngins these days just date who they want when they want, the parents who want to throw a 'coming out' party for their kid are considered cringe (or whatever new word they use this week).

Fair enough man. Thanks for the response.

I’ve often wondered if this topic belongs on a political forum. It’s more of a cultural and, for many, personal issue. I recognize there are legal and therefore political consequences, but it’s not Ukraine, the deficit, or even politicians shooting puppies. It’s pretty private stuff.

The never ending consequences of friggin bud light.

I wish it wasn't political. I'd much rather the politicians stay out of bedrooms, stop inciting voters with morality issues (on both sides), and do their damn jobs.

You remain insightful and level-headed. I haven't visited the political side of this forum in a while, mostly because I fail to maintain the latter. But I've read a bit today, and your posts, with which I often fundamentally disagree, are always worthwhile.

My apologies if I'm completely off base here. But I think he was speaking on trans, not LGB.

It's weird that it's considered part of the same as LGB are sexualities, whereas T is a personal identity.

Also, T is the only one where a child might be coerced into going through life altering procedures.

That's not what I meant. I enjoy your posts on the football forum so we probably shouldn't get into it.

But I don't believe there is a close to significant number of children being coerced into being transgender and going through life altering procedures.

Honestly, this thread is wild to me as a whole. As usual, @aubiefiftyposted something well meaning and harmless. Then you have one guy calling LGBTQ a social contagion that will lead to the demise of civilization, a random insertion about anti-semites, gay panic about half of high school kids being LGBTQ, and someone that thinks gays should stay in the closet until after high school.

Little too much for me. Hence my facetious response to @I_M4_AU

    What?  Try again.

In a response to a post about about a gay kid, you said earlier that it is best to wait until after teenage years to "choose" the lifestyle that suits you.

Then you said there are people in their 60s that still haven't come to grips with their decision.

So I was wondering what age you think it is appropriate for gays to choose to live a gay "lifestyle."

Your last sentence is the choice gays have to make and it seems better to understand the issues that may confront them before they make that choice.  There are people that still haven’t come to grips with that decision and they are in their 60’s.

What age do you think people should be allowed to be gay?
