I mean, if he did that, he would have to be in school for at least another year or two. Most of these players don’t want to be in college for 5-6 years.

Wait. These guys are coming here to get a degree....

Correct to some extent, but it's a sad situation.

Bill Walton to Coach John Wooden: "You can't tell me how long to wear my hair."

Wooden to Walton: "No I can't William, but I can decide who is going to play on this basketball team. Practice starts in one hour. Get a haircut before then or don't come to practice."

Walton rode his bicycle to the nearest barber shop and came back in time, with a brand new haircut. From my memory of a passage in Wooden's book, They Call Me Coach.

“William” didn’t have anywhere else to go. Today? “William” would have transferred…And got paid!

And that is exactly why I said "Major program". I liked following AU swimming in those years, but I don't consider swimming/diving to be a major program. Football, men's and women's basketball, the diamond sports would be the limit for major program and softball has just recently reached that level.

I don't know man. No other sport had as many athletes in the Olympics. And that's a pretty "major" thing.

AU swimming put AU on the world map.

For every one on here, that is the definition of poor coaching.   You tell your 4 hole hitter to never do that before the season ever starts.   She put down a beautiful bunt and got thrown out by 3 steps.   She looked like she was carrying someone on her back.   If she had speed , it might be a different situation but seeing that , she should never attempt another bunt for hit again

Come in man. Didn’t you see Major League? Sometimes you gotta catch ‘em off guard!

Not a Bo hater by any means but how many rounds of Bo apologizing do we need

Is he going to come back and win a few more games for Auburn if he gets a couple more sorries?

Nah. But we have enough mealy mouth fans that they need to be called out when proven to be nothing but a blow hard.

The "Official Site of Auburn Athletics" has been down since yesterday. Something about security agreement expired. Anybody know anything about this? It's been my go to place for box scores, schedules and so forth for years. All tidbits of information, wild guesses or even knowledgeable replies appreciated.

    It’s a pay site now. Send $50 to gimmesome@cctautigers.com

    We’ll get you hooked up.

I was thinking the other day it may be a good thing if the school that a kid is transferring TO (or the player themself) ,  has to pay a % back of the Original school's  (transferring from) NIL investment.  Esp.  at the level of the SEC.  May be the SEC can work something  similar out.

This will  slow down a lot of transfers.

It is not right for a school to invest large amounts of money, time, and training in a kid only to have them transfer to a rival, pretrained, for a little more $.  It is a lost investment and there should be some protection.

The way it is now,  it is just a mater of time before medium "sized" schools tell players to go to Auburn (example) for a very low NIL.  Use AU's training facilities and nutrition program,  and next year when you are a little more mature and ready to hit the field,  we give you a huge NIL to transfer to here (La. Mo.).

^^^ no more redshirting players for smaller schools.   Just send them to the school with the BEST training the player can get into at low NIL....  with a large NIL carrot in a year for transferring.

NIL is not paid by the school.

  8. Many so called AU fans were horrible to Nix. I’m happy he did what he needed to do for himself. I’m saddened at the modern fan for the way they turn on players so quickly.

I will try to cheer on our guys as best I can. Hopefully I won’t fall into the pit of despair when it comes to an individual's play. Hopefully.

I would love to have Haley Van-Lith at Auburn. She is a superstar. Unfortunately, Auburn NIL for gymnastics sux giant donkey balls. Even Suni was way under-funded compared to even average LSU, Florida, Utah and Oklahoma girls. Auburn gymnastics NIL is embarrassing.

So, I'm thinking our chances of landing her is ..... bleak!

    She is a basketball player…

I’d like to see Auburn get longer at corner too instead of 5’11” I’d love to see more rangey 6’2” guys. Makes a difference.

I’ve thought this same way over the years, however it seems once you get above 6’ 1”, there are few guys who truly excel at DB. I’m not sure what it is. It’s a very reactionary position. Maybe there is a cutoff in which the smaller guys just adjust better.
That’s not saying they don’t exist, it just seems the very good ones at that size are fewer. It would be nice to have a couple though.

He only attempted 6 shots a game. That was his only issue. We needed him to shoot more.

Yes we do. And I think he’s there. The last part of the season and especially the tournaments, he picked it up. Coming back as one of the leaders, I think he’ll take a huge step forward. As someone else mentioned, hopefully he can finish a little stronger on his drives. He is very close to being a complete SG.

Yeah his offense was not as consistent. He himself didn’t look to score. I think he got more comfortable to look for his own, just like Chaney. I remember the App St game vividly where he just wouldn’t drive to the rim at all.

btw I can’t even imagine how many points would be added if he just wasn’t an atrocious finisher. His numbers had to be under 40% on layups. HAD to be

I am looking forward to DJ 2.0 next season. His confidence and aggressive nature finally took over. Hopefully with JPP coming in, the shot opportunities will open up tremendously for both and create a two headed monster that gives teams fits. One can dream.

Chaney finally got comfortable and looks like he is ready to take off.

CBM will only continue to get better, I feel.

It took these guys a bit to fit in and fully gel. And thank goodness we get them another season.

That was the only reason to allude to any slow starts; The fact that anyone we bring in with only one season left, should be ready to hit the ground running.

The more I see what BP is putting together, the more excited I get.

That’s simply not true about Denver. He just wasn’t afforded the shot attempts that Aden was getting earlier in the season. He shot 41% from 3 for the season.

He and Aden missed a lot of threes early on. Aden never got started. Denver went on a tear later. Just think if he had made 30% of those threes early on what his overall % would have been. I can’t count the games we all lamented his 3 point shooting and asked when it would finally kick in. Thank goodness it did. But we can’t discount the slow start.

Who struggled that we brought in last year besides Aden? Denver and CBM were both good additions who played well and were contributors.

It took Denver until the end of the season to find that shot he was brought in for. He could barely hit a three for over half the season. He was a good defender, so that offset the missing threes.
CBM was an excellent defender and was a good addition. He definitely got better by the end of the season.
Chaney struggled with a slow start but was able to step up when Jay went down.

All of these guys struggled a bit in the beginning but they are also multi year transfer players. So the risk was worth it.

With a one and done, if they don’t come in hot, their upside is a huge risk for AU.

Don't think I've seen on here that Wesley Steiner is also entering the portal.

He's the exact opposite of what we all are complaining about. Good kid, hard worker. Playing time diminishing. Freshman passing him by.

There is no loyalty on either side. I get if you don't like that. Just remember it goes both ways.

I thought Wes had been discussed. Excellent person, step slow. Freshmen aren’t passing him by because he is not liked, or worked hard, or hasn’t been given a chance to prove himself. After a couple of seasons, one realizes they are a step too slow for this level of football.

The freshmen leaving now did not even give themselves a chance after their redshirt year to see if they would progress.

    These are two different scenarios.

Colton Hood enters the transfer portal. This one stings.

Was he upset at being redshirted? Or did he get beat out?

As he is just a freshman, I think he would have progressed tremendously this season.

I guess these freshmen see the writing on the wall. It used to be work hard and show them all. Now it’s go elsewhere.
