  1. The guys that offered him are literally all gone. And no disrespect to Westry, but the reason why he initially received an offer was because we missed on all the initial top targets save for Bridges (who we lost eventually anyway) and seemed to just settle for taking him because we had no one else lined up. The story going around is that Muschamp was shocked at how poorly planned our defensive recruiting was; particularly at CB where we had little to no prospects. The new staff came in and offered like 5-6 brand new corners/nickels within a week.
  2. Have you been living under a rock? We told him to look elsewhere as we are now recruiting DB's that we feel are better.
  3. No, man. Take a look at this kid's build...he's rail thin. You realize that a LB has to be thick and powerful, right? He weighs like 180 pounds right now at ~6'4.
  4. I said he's an intriguing athlete, but he is a major project hence why despite his height/athleticism he has few offers from top programs. I also don't think its as easy as just switching him to 'X' position if he can't play corner. The reality is that there are a ton of really good athletes who never figured out how to actually play football. Do you remember Harry Adams? He ran a 9.96 100 meter (setting a new Auburn record) yet couldn't do anything at either WR or DB.
  5. Westry is a converted track guy. He does not have good instincts.
  6. Nope. Take a look at this pic; Garner's listed height during his playing days was 6'2. He's probably shrunk some since then given his age, but notice as well that he's wearing shoes whereas Westry is in socks and yet is still noticeably taller by several inches. He looks legitimately 6'4.
  7. What position will he play? The likelihood of Westry becoming a "stud" corner at his height is extremely low. Furthermore; this kid is extremely raw and underdeveloped. The problem I have is that this kid has no set position. He "plays" corner, but that doesn't mean he'll actually be able to cover an SEC receiver. You know how many 6'4/6'5 corners there are out there? Next to none. There is a reason for that. I'd like to believe that if Westry was some huge exception to the rule that we wouldn't be his only major offer.
  8. You are perceiving this incorrectly. It isn't Westry who is saying he doesn't want to come this weekend, it is our coaching staff (T-Rob and co.) essentially cancelling/"rescheduling" his visit. You can read the writing on the wall. This kid is already committed, there shouldn't be a need to "reschedule" his visit. What this looks like is them phasing him out of this class, which I stated was a real possibility when we went out and offered like ~4 cornerbacks within a two day period. I doubt Westry can play CB in Malzahn's man-heavy system.
  9. Must have shrunk to 6'2.5 once he got to college.
  10. Yeah: his athleticism. He's a project. They're hoping that they can teach him to play football.
