  1. One of my favorite albums. However, I do enjoy Animals...and Meddle...and Ummagumma. The Wall and Dark Side, while being masterpieces in their own right, I'll take the 3 I mentioned over them.
  2. I've been to the venue(several times)where SRV died, Alpine Valley. Always think about him when I'm there.
  3. My first contributions to the thread weren't remotely metal ;)/> Neither mine. I don't zone in on one specific genre. My tastes pretty much span the gamut...except top 40 radio hits. And I thought it might be a joke, but yeah it's definitely a thing.
  4. Folk metal and Viking metal are definitely two sub genres I haven't dabbled much in. I'll have to get back to you on that.
  5. Summoning. If you don't like any form of metal, skip right on by:
  6. Also really like Wolves in the Throne Room. Weird thing about this particular track, it has a woman singing while the vinyl I have has a male vocalist.
  7. Scandinavian? Bingo. Ambient black metal(really liking Summong right now) is my preference, but I do enjoy the traditional bands like Immortal, Carpathian Forest, Darkthrone, etc. But also death metal on occasion if the mood is right. I do enjoy thrash/speed(specifically Pantera and Iron Maiden) and sludge/stoner too(the Sword, Electric Wizard, Pallbearer, etc.).
  8. Oh, and I can't wait until a "true metal" argument happens. I'm a bit afraid to post the kind of metal I'm into. I'll say it's a bit more "extreme" than some of the nu-metal being posted.
  9. And since I was able to score tickets on a re-release today, my wife and I will be celebrating Valentine's at a Ween reunion show. This video was directed by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and one of my personal favorites:
  10. Hate that they didn't come anywhere near Colorado for this current tour. Haven't seen them since the Lateralus tour.
  11. A new(ish) tune from Warren Haynes with Railroad Earth. This song in particular was written with Phil Lesh(Grateful Dead, bassist). Great song, entire album is top notch. Paging FoundationEagle.
  12. Can't edit my other thread title assuming because it was from 2011. So how about a new one? I see people talking music in multiple threads, but we don't have a running thread...so, let's get to it. Been digging this song lately, I wasn't ever very familiar with Irish folk singer Glen Hansard or the Swell Season. He was on a radio show I listen to recently, and told an interesting story. The story goes, Glen was at a party and his hero/idol Van Morrison(Irish) was also in attendance. Van the Man had the attention of the crowd, guitar in hand, asked for requests. Glen calls out for, "Hungry for Your Love"(also a personal favorite of mine). Van responds, "I don't know you!". Dejected, Glen walks out of the room. The host of the party comes and find Glen, and tells him to come back in. Van apologizes for his demeanor. He asks Glen what he requested, Glen tells him. Van hands him the guitar and tells him to play it for him. After he plays "Hungry", the two retreated to a bedroom in the house where they played their own songs to each other until the wee morning hours.. Simply best the story I've ever heard of a fan meeting their idol.
