What will we consider transfers that were 5* out of HS?
I feel like there is some cryptic good news in this statement...🤌

Imagine being at practice and watching our talented secondary with the addition of Bolden going against CC RW PT.....heaven on earth...

Belitnikoff(?) watch list is no joke. This guy obviously has talent. Will it result in a 1000 yd season? Who knows but none of the transfers last year were on the list so.....

The thing about a prevent style defense is that you aren't "supposed" to be covering anyone for 10 seconds, you're supposed to be covering a zone area. Watching receivers, looking for the ball and/or a QB run. Its not brain surgery. But in that moment I can understand why you want to win so bad you get out of position. Just not very disciplined execution by the players. DJ seen his help out of position and that's why he turned his back and tried to make a play.
9 out of 10 times that catch is not going to be made. All it takes is one guy not on the same page though, which is even more surprising after the timeout

Any timeline Bird? With the coaching carousel in the beginning stages I'm not sure an early move is the best play or not. So many factors like Bowl prep, Early signing etc.

Tough spot for CHF. With several Alumni on staff if he lets any one of them go he's a bad guy, if he keeps any one of them for nostalgia sake and we still lose, he's the still the bad guy.

I will have to go back and watch but wasn't there another DB back in that corner that moved towards the goal post for some odd reason as the receiver is moving towards the corner leaving DJ in single coverage? Seems like there were way to many DB's in the center of the endzone because the other corner WR was open too.
Don't mind the call, just poor execution plain and simple. IMHO

Watched his hudl videos of his JR and SR year and this kid just has a nasty play style. Just looked for somebody to pancake. He was well coached in high school. Stayed on his initial block then moved to the 2nd level.
Can definitely see him as a guard here.
Great get here!!

Maybe Talladega can up the NIL pot a little bit??

I love TWR! Especially their post game reports. Usually spot on. And honestly, I've never heard them make predictions on players or coaches for that matter. They just talk about AU without the spin or ridiculousness some bring to the table. Would definitely like to hang with those guys. Not so much with others.

Sigh. Everyone knows we need a quarterback. The coaches are very aware. They are doing everything they can to find one. However, we cannot take a transfer quarter back if they are not in the portal and currently there are no good QBs in the portal. I mean, we can tamper and try to get people to enter the portal, which I am sure we are doing to a small degree, but you can only go so far.
…and for those of you that said we should have picked a quarterback up in the first portal session, we tried. HF had been on the job only 6 freaking weeks. We thought we had a home run with McCall and that royally screwed us. Kentucky outbid us for the only other QB we really wanted.People want to get mad at the current QB situation- get mad at Gus and Harsin. HF has already proven he can recruit by bringing in a top HS QB for the future.
One last thing- if you are an elite QB in college and you see our current WR room, would you want to transfer here? That is just another hurdle these coaches have to deal with thanks to the last staff.
This is a mess and they are doing everything they can to fix it.Best post in this entire thread... 🏆

We’ve got a good chance of landing this kid and I think he’s going to keep raising his stock in 2023 season.
Seems to like Florida. You think we got a real chance here? I really like this kid a lot!!

What do you mean? I’m not following the whole chaos thing?
Exhibit A- REC (Red Elephant Club) Tuscaloosa's very own Seal Team 6
They go after the High school coaches, School Admins, Aunts, Uncles, Mom and Dads.
Have you been hiding under a rock or something?? LOL just messing with you. But, We've all heard a thousand stories of how they and also other schools (just dont know their booster club name) get on these kids if there is any inkling they are going to switch after committing. Especially our rival.
Remember the kid from I think Louisiana that committed to the bamzos and Mom walked out on live TV? Talk about coming out of nowhere and despite what Mom wanted, they convinced the kid to do otherwise and she didn't even know about it. That's how sneaky they are. They didn't even honor what the mom wanted, and neither did he for that matter.

I think Mardner?? removed his gloves after a drop.
Yes Mardner thats him. Once I realized he didnt have his gloves on but were in his belt, thats when I noticed the others also.

Decommitting from a powerhouse school will take some real backbone. They better be serious about it because it will cause chaos for them and their family.
If they commit, I want it to be a done deal not a drama fest. 100% or not at all until they are sure about it.

Gonna be a great possession receiver. Hopefully for us!

Bearing in mind that I played in a time when we didn't use gloves to catch a football but could it be that in wet conditions you can actually somewhat dry your hands between snaps but gloves will remain wet once they are wet? I'm just guessing but I don't get the infatuation with gloves anyway...but again, I'm old school...my receiver idol was Fred Biletnikoff and he was the stick 'em king.
I agree 100%
I have tried them on before and they are super sticky. I am amazed that balls can even be dropped and can definitely see how these kids make 1 handed grabs these days. Seems like when they wet it would stick more but I may be wrong.

My thoughts on A-day 2023
As said above #44 reminds me so much of Rudy also. Elite/elusive footwork and looked like he had his head on a swivel. Not blazing speed and runs a little upright but kid was fun to watch.
Battie is going to be great.
#35 looked good to me also, may not get the touches but ran the ball well.
Not even going to talk about QB. Well, i guess I just did. meh
OL! It wasn't exactly the best test on a wet field but I think we could see glimpses of a much improved line. Maybe not our greatest but most of these kids weren't here 6 months ago and most of them will be our starters in the Fall. May take fall before they really gel as a unit.
Defense looked good but I didnt see much more than base defense sets. Secondary looks like they have lots of speed and really close on the ball. They are going to cause a lot of problems for our opponents this fall.
Which brings me to my biggest, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE point.
Why did the receivers not use their gloves??? Did any one else notice? The big tall receiver even had them in his belt and missed a couple of catches. A real head scratcher there.

How many years left? (if he will need them)

He was robbed of higher honors since he wasn't going to Duke, KY or son of NBA legend. Played minimal minutes in 2nd half yet had 15 points! Would have easily had 20+ with more time. He was making defenders look stupid.
I was curious why he got limited minutes. Seemed to be solid on D and looked great with the ball in his hands. Maybe they didnt like him passing the ball to his teammates so much??? lol
