  1. Word on the street is we presented him with a deadline to decide yesterday, and he would not give us an answer so we moved on.

For someone who left an official visit with us sounding like he was minutes away from committing, he sure has turned into a quite the attention seeker.

If he ends up back at Vanderbilt that only confirms that.

Chad Mazara-Baker is our top option at this stage, and we are in his final 3 along with A&M & Toledo.

A&M got a graduate transfer at the 3 from Middle Tenn State, and Radford announced yesterday he is coming back for his super senior year.

We seem like a better fit and can offer more playing time than A&M, so we shall see.

  2. I am worried about Broome coming back now.  Pearl is about to go all Musselman in the portal looking for a 3.

There are better options at the 3 in the portal than finding a quality big man.

I would love to get Lawrence, but Trilly Donovan is pretty locked in and I think he ends up at Texas Tech as stated.

We should have had a replacement lined up a month ago.

    Who needs Matthew Cleveland

Lol.  We absolutely should have put the full court press on Cleveland.  We are not getting Lawrence.  Hokanson is reporting we offered a NW FL Juco wing Chad Baker-Mazara (6 ft 7 and 46 percent from 3 and 15.2 a game) Former Duquense and SD State player.

  4. According to the Portal Report we have reached out to Rob Carpenter 6 ft 7 inch Small Forward(Who is listed as a Kent State transfer).

Does not have any stats from last season, and averaged 17.8 in 12 games at Mississippi Valley State in the 2021-2022 season.

  5. I agree.  We heard repeatedly Cleveland wasnt our top choice, but someone would be hitting the portal soon. Lawrence visits and appears to be a lock with a commitment imminent. Then things go radio silent and find out he is going to the G-league combine(Which is fine and dont blame him for).

However, over the weekend the UGA talk starts and thats where it really starts to irritate me. We have to pony up and lock him up(assuming he doesnt get invited to the NBA combine) or we are in for a long mediocre season. We let too many quality small forwards slip thru our fingers only to be played.

  6. It would be better than having to play a walk-on, and he might not be grumbling about PT that he is likely to only get in garbage time or injuries/disqualifications.

I am ok with taking a flyer on this guy, as I expect Chaney Johnson to be the backup as a stretch 4.
