Yep, that's Aubrey Wiley and Vickie Orr's son. Heard Mark Komara say the other day that the first thing Bruce should do is hire Aubrey as an assistant coach and bring that kid to AU. Apparently Aubrey has been coaching college basketball (Head Women's coach) somewhere. Lawson State maybe??

Sorry if I've missed this, but can we confirm that Pearl has officially had an offer presented to him? I've read the twitter posts and blog entries etc but haven't seen anything that was an apparent 100% offer.

Anybody familiar with Pearl knows that he's not going to be anything to worry about as our coach. Guarantee there isn't a single Knoxvillian on here that would argue this or doesn't want him as our coach. He is nothing short of awesome. There's no question if we want him or not. It's if he wants us.

Let's see...suborned perjury by some recruits and their families, lied to his bosses at UT and lied to the NCAA....just the kind of guy anyone would like to have in charge of a $15million dollar business. :-\/> well, maybe not.

Well, apparently more folks want him than don't and it's not just AU people. Why? Because he is a great bb coach and in the scheme of things, what he did was fairly minimal. He is a rock star coach and he's available, it's normal for folks to wanna snag him IMO.

So if I got all this correct from this thread:

- Pearl committed somewhat minor infractions - and will have paid his punishment

- Known as a big time name in the game, good recruiter/coach

- Has interest in being at AU (as well as other schools)

- some of the PTB in the compliance side of the house (to include the guy who was the lead investigator that got him punished??) say he is a "clear" hire

Why not give him the opportunity (like we did several football players), maybe, he has learned his lesson, and knows how to keep his nose clean for the future. Sounds like a guy who can still recruit and get the talent that isn't shuffled through the AAU/NIKE system. We need something to fill up the Auburn Arena.

I am all for giving him a chance. I am just saying that the compliance people need to live in his hip pocket and don't let him get in a position where he endangers Auburn.

I would think since the compliance folks know his past, they would be fully prepared to do their job- which includes keeping us out of trouble. If he is signed off on by these guys, that should speak volumes to the doubters.

Alot of people have Vaughn on their list, but man...I just can't get the 2005 LSU game out of my head...

No doubt that was tough to swallow, but his body of work as a whole can't be denied. I believe be was AU's all-time leading scorer when he left.

The loudest I have ever heard JHS was when Calvin Jackson returned a 95 yard interception against UF. I was 12 at the time. It was overcast and a little drizzly, but that place was full and loud. Can't wait for JHS to be rockin' again very soon.

That play totally flipped the script of the game...Florida was already ahead 10-0 and if they would have scored on that drive, I'm not totally sure we would have come back from down 17-0...CJ's pick 6 made it 10-7 and it was game on from there.

That team eked out a number of tight games...a lot of people forget about this one because it was earlier in the season, but there was a critical 4th quarter goal-line stand against Vanderbilt in a 14-10 win. They didn't dominate too many teams, but they made winning plays when they had to be made.

Yep, good call. I was that game. It was in Nashville and my roommates and I hit a couple of, um, "gentlemens establishments" downtown after the game. I remember watchin Miska going absolutely Mike Singletary bonkers crazy pre-snap on the final goal line stand play. That kind of intensity is a sight to behold. Good times.

I agree about the Calvin Jackson statement. I've used that several times when describing the loudest I've heard JHS. I was screaming like a 9 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert after that. Of course I was a 19 year old Sophomore at the time so I probably looked a tad silly.
