    Sooo much This^^^^.

Lion please stop telling a parent of one of our players how her son should conduct himself. It's not your place man.

Of course... God forbid that the idiot from Kansas bring up things like bulletin board material and the dangers of the press when a parent is around. It only applies when we're talking about kids who parents we don't know.

Got it. I know my place. Thanks for reminding me @McLoofus

I understand tho... I read your comments and I can sense the uncertainty in your voice and that's understandable. Your entitled to feel how you feel, but just know this, he isn't as small as you think is for the SEC. He comes with power, strength and speed. The only thing that handicaps him is his height and that still means nothing but I tell you what, Sooner than later you will be a believer in who he is and what he is about not only as an athlete but as a person. Once you start believing, your 1st Shivers jersey is on  me ?

You're totally missing what I'm saying, Momma. I have no doubt that Sean will do great things. I'm already a fan. All I'm saying is that it's better to do them than say them, especially when reporters are around.  I'd say the same thing about any other player on the team.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. But He has ALWAYS  done his part on and off the field. Its not a put on its real life for him. do your research on him. If he doesn't speak highly of himself who will? He has no fear and that's the way he has been taught to be and how he is. That's who he is and how he always has been. People are going to think what they want anyway, you just formed an opinion right? so it happens. He has ALWAYS been target since he touched the field about his height and everything else. What your worried about is peanuts to us. No disrespect, just giving it to you in real rare form.

It's not about speaking highly of himself, Momma, and I have no doubt he can back up what he says. It's about not giving big guys with attitudes bulletin board material to feed off of. In the college game, it's best to let your play on the field do the talking for you. It's especially important when sports writers are around as they will go out of their way to use your words against you and your team. Carl Lawson was a great example. He never said much, but everyone knew he was a bad man.

“See, 300 (pounds), that’s nothing,” Shivers said. “You’ve got to be at least 400 pounds.”

Shivers rushed for 1,807 yards and 23 touchdowns while averaging 11.7 yards per carry during his senior season. “I watch some (smaller tailbacks) but I wouldn’t compare myself because they run differently than me,” he said. “They’re shifty backs. I’m a straight, downhill runner like I’m still 6-4 or something. I run downhill.”

    Momma there goes that man

Love the attitude, but he needs to remember to keep that on the practice field and not in front of the sports writers. We don't need the big uglies painting a target on him.

Tough to get kids from Mississippi. Woodson is paying huge dividends for AU.

Though you have to admit, it's a little easier when one of the state schools is in the NCAA frying pan and the other is a giant question mark with a brand new staff lead by someone with no head coaching experience and a total of 1-year coaching in the Power 5.  If I were a talented football recruit, I wouldn't be willing to hang 4 years on either of those programs in their current situations.  Sure, we still get to compete with LSU and bama, but it has been harder.

It was most definitely 2010...with our DL roughing up their QB pretty bad, then we go on to officially win a NC...which they'd been waiting to win for almost 30 years.  Then 2013 put them over the edge.

Nah... I was in school in the 90s and they would spit on us when we went to Athens. Friendly stopped well before 2010.

Any word on whether Trezman Marshall is coming?

No word. He's one of those types that if he comes it likely won't be posted even behind a VIP wall til he is actually there.

Per Keith's live blog... he just (3 hours ago) arrived on campus.

I like that, so far, there's only 1 guy committed to another school and he's probably not going to steer anyone to Starkville. I realize that isn't generally a problem but every little bit helps.

Yea... now that Mullen is in Florida, we don't have to worry about it being part of some nefarious plan.

FYI, Gus's TEs at Arkansas State had more catches in 2012 than Lindsey's TEs at Arizona State were targeted in 2016. Granted, 2012 was a long time ago and CJ Uzomah probably doesn't buy that it's a personnel issue with Gus, but it's worth pointing out. Lindsey is not going to use the TEs a lot, although it might still be a lot more than we've gotten used to.

My recollection is that Lindsey prefers tight ends in the "h-back" roll over actual h-backs, while Gus prefers to recruit actual h-backs. The fact that we have two tight ends on the board and no h-backs is what makes me think Lindsey is building his team.

    You can't teach speed.

And apparently the Bears are betting that speed kills because they can't have seen anything else that screamed "NFL caliber" in his 16 rushing attempts and 7 receptions as a receiver at FAU last year.

Wow! I honestly would not have ever imagined this but it's exciting nonetheless. War Eagle Gus

Right?!? We've heard it before from a couple recruits gravitating towards our down home family farm vibe, but to see Gus's effort and personality listed as a primary reason this class is shaping up so nicely is really exciting to me.

From everything I've heard, he's totally different 1-on-1 than he is in front of a mic. Kinda makes me want to meet him outside of a football event.

That doesn't negate the physical/psychological maturity or the experience against D-I competition. Don't undersell Stidham for the sake of making a point in an argument.

I'm not underselling anyone. All you have to do is look at the first 3 games of the season and you can see that he was as rusty as they get. Today, he's a far superior QB to Fromm, but from day 1 of last season, they weren't that far apart.

  13. 42 minutes ago, Rednilla said:

but he probably isn't going to transfer before the season

That all depends on how Kirby plays it. If he's like his former boss and strings him along without announcing a starter until game 1, sure, but it seems more common, these days, for a QB to jump ship as soon as he finds out he's going to be benched. I'm looking at the scenario of Fields being named within the first week or so of Fall practice and Fromm being eligible as a 2019 recruit to sit 2019 and play 2020.

To be fair, though, our first year QB was a third year sophomore who had experience playing in the Power 5. Theirs was fresh out of high school...not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

At the same time, ours effectively hadn't played a game in 21 or so months and was learning an offense that he, himself, said was far more complicated than the offense he had previously learned.

No, I wouldn't. I like the chemistry we've got going at QB right now, and between Willis, Gatewood, and Nix, J Fromm would be hard pressed to crack the lineup by the time he got to the Plains anyway.

That argument sounds familiar... who was it last used with... Oh yea, Russel Wilson. Not saying Fromm is even in the same area code as Wilson, but chemistry we currently have won't mean jack if Willis and Gatewood never reach their potential just like Frazier and Trotter. If he was interested, I wouldn't say "no".

Nobody caught balls at uga last year. They'll promise the offense will pass more now that Fromm is more experienced, blah blah blah. Like you said, this pot won't call that kettle any names.

The pot can talk a little since our 1st year QB threw for about 1000 more yards than theirs.

I would be amazed if this is actually the case.

I wouldn't for one reason and one reason only... they are breaking in a new backfield.

The kid gets the credit he deserves for leading a team to the Championship game, but look at his stats. He completed less than 10 passes per game and rarely threw for 200 yards. What that tells me is that they were not putting the game in his hands. I think Fields could give him a run for it. You know Kirby's not going to consider seniority in the slightest. He comes from the Saban school of football where everyone is expendable... ask Eason.

I bet the Fromm house at Thanksgiving and Christmas is gonna be fun from now on out!!!

The talk out of Georgia is that Fromm may lose his starting spot to Fields. I could see the Fromm family very quickly becoming strictly AU fans. I guess we could take Jake as a transfer in case Willis and Gatewood never take that next step.
