We are gonna talk about “who decided to be back to field the punt”?  Really?  Is ANYONE in charge?  You would think so! You would be mistaken.

I mean, it's not like Freeze earlier this year was complaing about a lack of RPO... as if he's not the f*****g head coach who decides what offense we run.

The dude acts like he has no control over the negatives, but is fully in control of the positives.

is it asking too much to have a smart coach? A guy who understands situations? A guy who knows who his punt returner is? A guy who doesn’t rotate QBs for over half the season? A guy who can actually “out coach” some of his peers? I don’t think that’s asking too much. Especially considering the amount of money he’s being paid.
Everyone keeps talking about the talent gap, yeah I get that, but is a team full of 5 stars never gonna have to be coached? I can’t wait to see how many times he puts them in bad situations.
Auburn wasn’t supposed to be in this game, but they were and it wasn’t because of great coaching calls. The game was laid out on a golden platter for the taking and we saw the coaching decisions that were made. Are those supposed to magically go away with a team full of 5 stars?

We don't hire smart coaches. We hire coaches who will fluff our donors and shill out a prosperity gospel because it makes people feel good.

I don't think anyone is REALLY saying fire Freeze, they're just pissed we choked away a game we had a generously 75% chance to win with 40 seconds left or so. We have no choice but to let him continue recruiting, to do otherwise would be foolish.

People are just mad we "rushed" 2 (in reality they were playing patty cake with the OLmen) and had a spy on Milroe when any semi conscious football fan knows you bring at least 4 like we were doing most of the night. Hell, maybe he runs and we win but you bring SOME pressure to make him get antsy and make a hasty decision.

I am. If you're going to have a documented history of being being a s****y person, at least don't s**t the bed on 4th and 30.

I hate the loss, the way we looked during it, and the jeers afterwards but the tired ass regurgitated complaints that certain individuals had upon his hiring have nothing to do with it.  This is just the first opportunity to dirty the water and wave their arms and say, "see! We were right!" when their complaints have nothing, or very little, to do with the game. Pathetic.

Complain about the coaching decisions, the players' efforts or deficiencies, the penalties, the in-game decisions, these are relevant, valid, and plenty! Trying to bring up personal s*** he and his family have moved past doesn't.

It is the totality of who Freeze is as person. He is impulsive, inconsistent, self-aggrandizing, and a lying weasel.

He loves to compare his NCAA investigation to that of Jesus being crucified... until it hits the news and he's scrambling to coerce reporters into redacting it.

He loves to beat his chest on national TV about how much a winner he is everwhere he goes after beating a mediocre BYU and Arkansas just to follow up with a 3 consecutive losses (including a blow out to New Mexico State).

When Auburn escapes a loss to Cal, he loves to take credit for calling the game winning TD. When Auburn is beating on the three worst teams in the SEC, he loves taking credit and being "more involved". But when you get bodied by New Mexico State and he delivers Auburn its worst loss in program history, its the players lack of effort and we have Hoke "leak" that Montgomery called plays instead.

Point blank, Freeze is the same coach today as he was at Briarcrest, at Ole Miss, and at Liberty. It isn't muddying the water to say that his personal flaws and coaching accument are intertwined and that neither were worth the risk.

His old habits have already cost us the most embarrassing loss in program history. Are you willing to wait for him to deliver the biggest scandal in program history?

  5. Here's a postmortem for ya.

    https://247sports.com/season/2023-football/collegeteamtalentcomposite/

We lost to a team with bottom of FBS talent despite being ranked 18th ourselves. Not only that, but Freeze has been owned by Jerry Kill/NMSt. in back-to-back years to the tune of 80-24. Meanwhile Jamey Chadwell is at Liberty doing what Freeze could never do, and is recruiting better than Freeze ever did at Liberty. Oh, not to mention he beat New Mexico State despite having the less talented roster of the two.

But hey, I guess if you just keep throwing money at the dumpster fire eventually it will be smothered out.

What question do you want answered? What more do you want explained? Cohen gave a detailed description of the hiring process. People who don't like the hire are making fools out of themselves by asking foolish questions. The public has already been told everything that is normally public knowledge. It's time for the buttercups to suck it up because nothing more on the subject is coming. There's nothing more to tell.

What is foolish about asking an administrator how he plans to ensure that a guy who has brought controversy to at least three schools in his career from repeat offending? What is foolish about demanding transparency about what was discovered? Don't tell me that vague string of generalities was a "detailed description of the hiring process".

John Cohen says Hugh was "open and honest" and "so transparent". Transparent about what? He compares Hugh's mistakes to Bruce's mistakes. I think we all know that lying about a BBQ is not the same as  sketchy highschool disciplinary actions and hiring escorts with company resources. But I digress...

Cohen says he wishes he could recreate the process for others, but he can't. Except he can. You take all of your notes and documentation and make it public. Problem solved.

Hugh Freeze is a high-profile representative of a state institution. If he were appointed to be Kay Ivey's secretary I would expect the same amount of scrutiny to applied. It's no different. I understand you're content to support anything with an Auburn logo slapped on it, but some of us actually believe the Creed has meaning.

I there truly nothing left to tell, it wouldn't have even been a topic in this interview three months later. So don't call me a fool, for still asking questions when the administration is at least still pretending to care about outward perceptions.

  7. Day 4 and still no answer.

Cohen can talk all he wants, but the fact that three months has gone by and there neither a paper trail or even a contract that's been made public tells me that there is a reason they don't want people knowing what they know.

Line I've said countless times. If the "facts" are on your side then lay it all out. The secrecy and vagueness of his answers only further alienates the fanbase and donors... But then again, who needs fans when you just have to appease the two richest Alabamians?

When did you know things were probably going to be bumpy?  For me it was when TJ was announced as starting QB.  I had optimism that Calzada could be a good enough QB and Auburn had just enough talent to go on a run the way it did up to the Miss State game in 2021 before Bo go hurt.  I didn't foresee Auburn going undefeated but with enough wins maybe Auburn could turn around recruiting and things would start on an upward trajectory.  Once TJ was named starter I knew Auburn would be lucky to be over .500.  Knowing what I know now there was obviously a lot more things not working in that teams favor as long as Harsin was coach.

Well the warnings came in the offseason. But at least we knew it was Harsin's ship to captain from bow to stern.

When Brahms was sent out to pasture that was the start of concern. Confirmed when the wheels came flying off against a mediocre Penn State and realized that Harsin's way was not going to be enough.

  9. 5th at best. We'll 2 of 3 between Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State. We have no proven pass rush, an okay LB corps, two turnover prone QBs, and the best OLine one could poach from the Group of 5 ranks. See y'all at the Music City Bowl.
