@CameronCrazyNobody has said we haven't been as far as I know. He's apparently a heavy Kansas lean though.

Not to pull out of the draft but yes to entering the portal. Doesn't matter anyway since he signed with an agent so he is done with college ball.

Are we sure about that post NIL? Wendell Green just hired an agent this week but he is still playing next year.

This is going to be embarrassing when Phillips ultimately commits to Tennessee. I expect people to line up to apologize

There is a 50% chance of him going to Tennessee so even if that happens it doesn’t mean you know anything and not a single poster in here is going to apologize to you.

I hope he's not from a coaching standpoint.  The line actually got a little better as the season went on this year.  Look at the Bama game again.  We got a pretty nice push in the run game (why we got away from it I'll never know).  With that said, I know his recruiting abilities can leave a lot to be desired.

Maybe Gus can just hire two offensive line coaches. Who needs a special teams coach anyways. :)

I'm sorry my post comes across as being condascending. I promise you that is not the tone of my posts at all. I am just giving you hard core facts on the situation. It's your choice if you want to accept the facts or not & I accept that you won't if that's your choice. And I use "with due respect" and will continue to do so because there are a number of times my posts are misinterpreted, like this case, as condascending when that is not my tone at all. Me saying "With due respect" is basically me saying do not read this post with a condascending tone. Just because society views "with due respect" as condascending doesn't mean that's how I view or communicate it.

In all seriousness welcome back BTW. You have been missed my friend.

Thanks E. I like you and you are a good guy and I believe you come with good intentions, but often times things are more grey than they are black and white.

Good to be back. I am always here, just not always posting comments.

Not really. With due respect thaitopher you have no idea how much Gus micro manages & handcuffs his offensive assistants. It happens on the recruiting trail too. Listen to WDE. He has more knowledge on this type stuff than we will ever have.

You really need to stop being so condescending - it makes you look like a jackass. And please stop saying "with due respect" - you use it way too much and it actually has the exact opposite effect. There is a way to have disagreements without taking the approach you are taking.

He actually is pretty good when he's at a place that gives him a chance to be.

Gus is the reason we are in the position we are in today. If Hand had a say in OL recruiting we would have been casting a wider net * gone after * taken guys like Jalen Goss last year

Gus is one of the reasons we are in the situation we are in today - Herb Hand deserves his fair share of the blame too though.

JB gets a pass here and it's all on Herb? OK. Lot more to this than "Herb sucks" and it's his fault. It's one man's ault. The one making all of the money.

Not giving JB or our head coach a pass at all - my point is simply that a big reason why we hired Hand was his recruiting ability and he pretty much failed at that. If you look at all of his recruiting misses before he went to Texas, its pretty astonishing just how badly he whiffed on a LOT of big name guys.

Wonder why OL has become such a problem? We've had 2 OL coaches in the last 6 years. 1 in particular was known as a top notch recruiter. And Malzahn's offense is very run heavy so you would think OL would want to play in his offense. So what is the deal here? Every other position we have continued to recruit well and even seem to be recruiting better and better players at.

Well, for one - that "top notch recruiter" we had in Herb Hand turned out not to be such a great recruiter - he missed on a LOT of really big targets and is a big reason we are in the position we are today.

Welcome, Mr Nix! Great news for us. I feel like Bo will take a leadership position in recruiting this class. Ti have one if not the best QB in the class committed to AU already should help. No telling what happens down the road but I would say we are pretty well stocked at QB right now!

Agree. Hopefully, this really provides a kickstart to our 2019 class. I imagine lots of kids want to play with Nix. Think about all the players that Nix has camped with over the years - probably has developed strong relationships with a lot of really good players.

Man. The way Joey has progressed as a QB in the limited snaps he's had I'm right there w/ @aujeff11. I don't see him moving.

I agree that Joey has progressed a lot. And no one in their right mind would take the position I am taking given that Gatewood won the MVP of the high school bowl game. Gatewood was still only 8/16 in that game, but his running ability definitely means that he doesn't have to be quite as accurate throwing the ball. We'll see.

Willis won't go down without a fight either.

Not sure Gatewood even sees the light of day. I predict it will be Willis for 2019 and 2020 seasons then Nix after that. My big prediction: Gatewood either transfers or changes to TE. Jeff can pin this and use it against me in 2 years from now. :)

that is why I am a big fan of lying to the kid! lol. I mean he is 17 he does not know where he would best be suited in college. he is not a feature rb. He could be a monster at TE. He already has great hands. he has his heart set on rb and that is why the elite schools have cooled on him. His best path to the NFL is to be a pass catching TE.

Sounds like what I have been saying the last couple of weeks. Dont steal my thunder GWill!!! ????

Like seeing Kam in a non-contact Jersey... makes you question the "he's in trouble" storyline a little. Of course seeing Kerryon makes one feel less enthusiastic, but hopefully it's just precautionary.

Also love that Asa is sporting the Carl Lawson look of seriousness on his face.

I had the same thought. KP has been on the field during all of our games all season long - doesn't strike me as someone who is in trouble. I can' t think of any other player Gus has let stand on the sidelines who ultimately got dismissed from the team.

Yup! And I'm not throwing shade. They'll happily tell you the same. Most Africans I've met openly mock American punctuality. I knew some Zimbabweans who would show up 44 minutes late to a 45 minute soccer practice. "It's not like anyone has died." Well, I guess not, Coach. (Yes, they were the coaches.)

I think MOST countries in the world, the cultures are much more laid back than here in the U.S. I kind of miss it to be honest. It's just a completely different approach to life. They aren't running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I used to live in Cambodia and my very first day there, I had to wait for about an hour to be served during lunch because the cook was taking a nap.....at like 11:00 a.m. in the morning. :Sing:

pretty sure AS is a take right now.

I can see a scenario where the coaches decided at the last minute to only take one more WR instead of two, especially given how many WRs we already have committed in this class and how few slots we have left. I can also see a scenario where he was referring to Mullen. Who knows.
