  1. I like Purifoy at the 3. He's got the length/athleticism to do well against whoever he's matched up with, offensively and defensively when the effort is there.

Wiley at the 5 would be huge. I'm pretty sure this kid is already bigger than Dwight Howard was at his age. Seems like exactly what we need on the inside on both sides.

Having Heron and Purifoy at the 2 & 3, Wiley at 5, Harper at 1, and the 4 left up to committee/whoever takes over. That's a damn good lineup on every level except experience. Pair that with good coaching and you'd likely have to add me to the group of fans who'd be disappointed without a tournament appareance.

Not to say that I'm expecting one but I'm excited that we are finally in a position where I can say that I have actual hope that if a few pieces fall into place we could make it there.

  2. On the perimeter defense/lack of

seems our defensive focus was to try and deny the post passes from outside of the arc and to help downlow if Haas/the other guy had the ball in the post.

It was a good idea and it really helped keep them from trying us downlow too much (Dunnans steal playing help on Haas is a good example)

purdue adjusted and came out taking quick shots when we were giving them the three and got hot doing it. We didn't seem to adjust to that until it was too late.

offensively, we need someone who is able to step up and help the team out when we are in a slump. Easier said than done with the lack of experience

The plan is for him to graduate in December and be eligible to enroll and play for Auburn in January.

A friend of mine mentioned something about him being eligible to play as early as December 10th.

I know that's a rumor but what I'm wondering is, is that allowed to happen? I've never really kept up with those types of details in college basketball as I've never been too into it's recruiting.

if he were to qualify and get on campus mid season, could we use him in games and what not?

  4. I'm also interested in seeing our half court defensive strategy as their offensive strategy is likely going to be heavily centered on their bigs. Those guys can definitely play too and have already been tested this season, losing a pretty good game to nova.

The good side to that is that both of their big guys and Big bodied guys, if we can create turnovers we should be able to get numbers most of the time in transition based on athleticism.

The bad side to that is going to be the offense in both half courts. They will be able to defend the middle and attack the middle and on paper they should be able to control the rebound game. Hopefully the team has a better night in 3 pt and FT %s as we might be taking a lot of both. Getting their bigs in foul trouble early may be one of our ideas. In being an Orlando magic watcher, that was always their kryptonite when they had Dwight Howard

  5. I liked your note on watch Holsey play

it took a lot of self control on that last drive, after the defense has multiple big (momentum shifting) plays in a row for him to be calm enough to sit back and bait their QB into making a throw he knew he could pick off.

Knowing that a young QB who is caught up in the moment will jump at the oppurtunity to throw to the first "open" WR while he's pumped up about a lucky play and a last minute drive to upset the #9 team.

Of course that's what you hope to get out of a veteran but it's impressed me ever since it happened. Extremely heads up play

What is Eli's forty speed? I would guess it is in the 4.4 range. He may not be as fast as JFIII, but he is pretty close.

I think jf3 is much faster on the field. They may have similar 40 times but jf3 has that speed that translates perfectly to the football field.

Right now, I believe stove is a fast WR. Jf3 has freaky elite speed. The way he makes everyone else on the field look like they're walking when he runs is crazy.

  7. I wonder if Golson lining up against a&m and Clemson's pass rushers showed him how nasty he had to be. Dude is getting some pretty blocks on the inside

i LOVE seeing Bubba bounce it outside too

a GIF of Bo smiling and shaking his head after that TD where Bubba bounced it to the outside perfectly describes my feelings when he runs the ball

No inside info, but didn't TQ come in and take snaps vs ULM?

Only on a play where they knew he wouldn't get hit or have to throw

almost seemed like a "give tq a few snaps while he can incase he doesn't get anymore"

of course that's just my opinion. I would love to see him used in our offense, if he's able to.

  9. Do we have any recent updates on woody or TQ? I feel like if either of them are in a position to take over the backup QB spot (technically the 3rd string QB spot) it will allow the coaches to feel a lot better at moving jf3 around.

i also agree that CRL needs to see this

Cole Cubelic has an interesting take ...

I don't think I agree with his logic (or the coaches if they share it).

A player that fast and that good is going straight for the "handoff" if he's left unblocked from the very beginning. Not giving a guard enough time to get back there, we cannot expect any of our offensive line men's lateral speed to be better than MG's straight line speed.

Hey..I spent the weekend in Navarre. Brother lives there. Great place.

I've spent too much time in this town. It gets old quick, you gotta drive to 2 hours in either direction to find anything other than the beach and supermarkets haha.

since I graduated from Navarre High School, they've really started to produced some good talent.

i know we had one kid a few years older than me who was an invited walk on to one of Tubb's teams and a kid go to FSU.

now they're really clicking. That RB they had is great (unc commit), a solid QB who will probably end up getting offers. Gotta keep it up.

  12. I love this defense. Looking great so far, like a really solid unit.

dissapointed with the o line in the first half and the play calling throughout the entire game.

With these WR (all 3 Of the Davis and Truitt even looking good tonight) and how good KJ has looked with JF3 in there, we may be able to be effective with one if not both of them playing the year
