  1. He was a really good high school player. St. Paul folks can attest to that from 2016 state 5A semifinals. I suspect AU just does not have a scholarship to give but advised that if he does what he should do they will give him one in a year. Dont know that but would make sense. Anyway a very athletic guy who can help at the safety position. As to why Minnesota there are a number of south alabama area kids up there. Two from Murphy in the last four or five years i know of.

  2. turns out we had room for Cam Taylor and the big OT prospect J. Goss. I bet the coaches wish now they would have taken those two. We did not have to have an OT from this class ready to play i 2018 and Goss had great potential. He was a TE in high school so he played a little high but he had very good athletic ability and was 6'6" and could have put on good weight. Anyway, water under the bridge.

  3. We competed this year with the same caliber of signees we are signing in this class and have competed with Saban better than anybody else has over the last 9 years. So yes, we can compete with them with these players. The key for anyone to beat UGA or UAT is at QB. We have one coming back who is capable. We have one going to be a sophomore and one coming in that have better tools. We shall see if JG is what we want him to be. If he is even close, then yes the people we have signed or will sign in this class can compete with those two.

  4. Dont know our coaches as you know are very good this time of the year in keeping secrets. Will be interesting to see just exactly who shows up for visits this weekend. A number of new faces apparently. On another topic per above it looks like UAT is going to run out of slots and not have room for Malik that would be to our benefit you agree?

  5. E, i see that Caleb Tannor is coming in for a visit this weekend. He could be an outside LB. He said in an interview after his UF visit that he is 6'3" and weighs 205. That sounds like a LB and not a DE. Any idea if we are really working him as an OLB option for Quay when he goes somewhere else? Just wanted to get your thoughts.

  6. Fugua and grayshirt will only be known on signing day. It is pretty clear that not counting that spot we openly have only 2 other spots after McCreary's committment. Those are for Anderson and Langham if they will take them. Now you say what about Walker or Ross well that is the third spot that we have in our pocket for the kid signing with Memphis that noone in the Athletic department for strategic reasons is talking about. If either of those two guys fall our way we have a spot for them. If neither then we keep that for a GT or for someone to count back next year. If by a miracle from heaven, not going to happen because Ross is going to UAT, we sign them both and Fuqua then grayshirts, but that is not going to happen. That is how i believe everything will shake out. If we get Anderson and Langham we will have done fine. Langham could go either way if needed DL or OL. He will make a great OT down the road.

  7. Cam is a very good athlete from Park Crossing. Committed early to play quarterback at Missouri but has no reopened his recruitment. Good size 6' 195lbs with pretty good speed. For sure safety prospect but may can play corner. Probably someone to look at if Fuqua's shoulder makes him grayshirt and we swing and miss on all the other big name guys.

  8. E, can you help me with this 29 number. They took 24 in 2015 and 2016. In order to take 29 this year they have to have 4 count back to last year. I assume that some of the 24 from 2016 did count back but to work they would have had to count 3 back. Gray shirting last year only makes them have to count them this year. So what your saying is they counted 3 back and with only signing 24 they have 4 extra slots for this year? correct.

  9. E, not to just be disagreeable but the height deal is way over rated. Carl Lawson is 6-2. Kevin Greene was 6-2. The Harrison guy for Pittsburgh that is playing at 38 is 6-1 maybe. TD has great hips, a quick step and a huge heart. sometimes lower to the ground is better. The old adage low man wins is still as applicable today as 30 years ago. Frankly we miss alot of good players worrying about their height. Centers over 6-2 are at a disadvantage blocking a nose anyway. The point, dont worry about TD being only 6-1 he will be fine.
