Man, that makes me sad.  I kinda get it though.  Tre, Aden and Denver are all probably coming back and we're adding Pettiford.  KD probably wants to play his final season somewhere as a starter and he's not going to get to do that here and his PT might have even gone down.

Couldn’t have said it better. LOVE KD. Will miss his enthusiasm.

Just prior to Tre hitting his first three to spark the beatdown over FL, KD flies out of his chair, ready to explode. Splash. KD explodes. That’s the kind of teammate I will always remember KD by.

Sad to see him go. Won’t miss him jacking up hero ball Wendall Green threes. Completely understand the PT. This is his last shot at ever playing at a level that matters. Go get it.

Thanks, that was just dumb. Actually, I couldn't begin to tell anyone what exactly was our offensive game plan in the second half.

Looked like it was a Tre takeover plan. He gets all the kudos in the SECCG for catching fire in the 2nd half. Guy was fire. He was the primary reason we dominated FL.

Hollaway was completely useless against Yale, so I loved the fact they left Tre in the majority of the game. But wayyyyyyy too much James Harden hero ball for Tre. He either dribbled till he found an opening at the arc or when forced to the paint, he dribbled waiting for the lob dunk and when it wasn’t there, he shot it. There was little to no passing by Tre. Yale dared him to play hero ball and he took the bait most every time.

Was not enough Broome and not enough Jaylin in the 2nd half. Tre needed to dump it down low to them every possession, both for points and/or to foul out their 7’ guy. He was perfectly ripe for the taking after foul #3 and in Dennis Green fashion, we let em off the hook.

And FWIW - I repeatably kept telling the TV throughout the entire game we need to stay glued to #4. He was fire early on and I knew he would be their go-to down the stretch. Had to force him off the arc.

We should not lose to Yale because of  one player.   A top team sure, but an Ivy?  All I heard all year was about our depth advantage. We should have overwhelmed and rattled them into several big runs. Instead they hung around until we melted.

Lack of close wins. I knew as soon as they took their last lead we were toast.

Our biggest fault in the game was not continuing to foul their 7’ guy out. Was obvious from our first possession it was our mission to. One play. One foul. I was fist-pumping that.

Then we went away from it. Even when we got #3 on him at the beginning of the 2nd half, they incredibly left him in and we stopped making it a priority to get him one on one. By far the biggest head scratching change of in-game strategy all season.

Yup have thought about this quite a bit and what concerns me most come NCAA Tourney time. We have little experience in close games. Baylor, at Appy St, at bammer and at TN were all within reach towards the end, but we withered away in crunch time. Huge concern.

Eerily similar to the 1999 season. Destroyed most everyone, which was awesome, but gained no tight game experience.

My biggest fear for Auburn is they haven’t been able to close out any close games. It’s either a blowout or loss.

Our biggest fear of no close games came to fruition. Gotta have those during the season to survive and advance.

Oakland got hot and that allowed them to compete with Kentucky but that's not the whole story. Kentucky made crucial errors down the stretch with turnovers and jacking up 3s to match Oakland. That Sheppard guy played especially poorly at the end. Oakland also had a guy (Townsend maybe?) who beat the hell out of Kentucky down low. So yeah it was an amazing game from Oakland but it took mistakes from Kentucky on top of that for them to lose. Also a good defensive team and coaching staff runs oakland off the 3pt line and doesn't allow 15 3s. But that was Kentucky all year. Look great for a few games and then not so good. This game didn't come out of nowhere.

The full cross-court pass by UK in the final minute that was easily stolen by Oakland was one of the most horrible late game decisions ever. Was no reason to pass it. Let your PG come get it. Despite the 15 threes, UK still had that chance to win it on that possession.

That Oakland guard that shoots nothing but threes, he has a Josh Hubbard type jump shot where he jumps as high as he can to release his shot. Unorthodox but it works. That type of shot is unguardable unless you double team.

Oakland is a veteran team with supreme confidence they can beat anyone. If I’m an AD looking for a new HC (hello Michigan), I throw the bank at their HC and force him to tell me yes.

I won't be terribly surprised if tomorrow is more of a grind than maybe we think it'll be.

Only one of our wins this season has been single digits and that was the rugby match against MSU.

Our 3-point defense has been phenomenal lately. Giving up an average of 4.3 threes the last 6 games. Giving up an average of 2.3 threes the last 3 games.

    We cover the -12.5 today.

And then the defense against A&M in their last game? They can make it to the final four I’m not arguing that. It’s an impressive bunch of talented players. I just think they are missing something. Otherwise they wouldn’t have lost so many games this season.

UK is snake bit against the three lately. Gave up 11 threes against A&M. 15 against Oakland.

There is no college team that can withstand 15+ threes and still win.

There are numerous NBA games, even in this day, where less than 15 threes are made.

A&M’s guards got hot from three. I feel like they got their defense together from the game in Auburn through the remainder of the season.

Moo State is built for the task of going to the Sweet 16.  They play bully ball on defense & beat you to death if you come in the paint.

If they play D like they have all year & can find some Consistent Offense, they could very well make it.

Know I’m late to reply, but no, they have to have one guy (the Freshman guard) score at least 25 to beat anyone in the tourney.

Kentucky certainly has their own problems to deal with. That defense is bad and that's a lot of youth to be relying on. Neither of those bode well for tourney success.

The defense I witnessed down the stretch against AU, bammer & TN was on point. If they bring that defense, they have a good shot at the Final 4 because they have the offense.

Now his show is very little about sports & now it is probably 80% loud mouthed, foul mouthed half drunk to completely drunk rednecks that like to call each other idiots and mo-rons (mostly Turd Fans).  So his show has pretty much become trash compared to what it used to be

Interesting. The few times I tuned in back during the 2010 season, it was exactly this. Shane from Centerpoint, wanna-be legend, Darriel, I-Man, Tammy and Phyllis all screaming at each other. So I don’t see how it’s changed at all.

That was New Mexico State in 19. That magical run was very close to not being a reality. They had 3 free-throws to end the game. Made 1/3. If he makes them we lose and the magical run never happens.

Yup. Then NMSU missed a three-pointer after that.

So, if it is AU vs UAB, then a lot of eyes and interest primarily in the state of Alabama, but if SDSU vs AU, then national interest and higher potential ratings? So how does the latter translate in terms of a likely game time for us in Round 2? A prime time Sunday evening game?

Regardless of our opponent, CBS will compare it to the other matchups when Friday is complete.

Respectfully, I don’t think app state does either and look how that game turned out.

    3-of-27

Have said it since December…when we make our threes (and I’m talking at least eight of them), we’re a tough out.

If we shoot 11% from the arc again, anyone can beat us.

And even with crappy shooting, we were in the Appy St game till the end.

Any best guess or historical precedent for the likely game time on Sunday if we move on to play in the second round?  All I'm finding is that Round 2 game times will be set sometime on Friday night. I anticipate we would play the first game on Sunday maybe at 1 or 2 pm Pacific Time. This sound about right?

It’s all about matchups, so CBS will wait to decide after all Friday games have been played.

    It’s all about the ratings.

You mean "they" are wrong and you are right. Even if two of them are former college coaches and the others are sports media who've covered college basketball for decades. Most are in there 50s and 60s.

Doesn't matter. You're gonna believe whatever and I am, too.

Sorry, couldn’t tell if you meant that one of the coaches you heard said that “what the Committee did this year was NOT following history” or if you meant that you were saying that.

Florida beat them by a million points twice in the past week or two. And bammer needed a miracle comeback to beat them at Coleman. Bammer is all smoke and mirrors.

Not disagreeing. Just stating seeding. bammer won more important games than FL.
