One last thing about my criticism of getting Hudson and I’ll move on. I’ll put this into perspective of how baffling this is for Pearl to pick him. Remember Yohan Traore? He was a 5 star recruit a couple of years ago who left last year for Long Beach. Well he reentered the portal again I believe is at SMU now. He was ranked like the number 480th portal player according to On3 Sports. Hudson is not even ranked by On3. That should tell you everything about this guy’s lack of skill. I saw other forwards who I have never heard of ranked and going to Iona and William and Mary yet Hudson is so obscure and obsolete that he’s not even ranked. And that’s why this is such a downer.

Well maybe if we get monkey stomped twice by Alabama next season, the boosters, donors and rich alumni will then contribute more to the men's basketball NIL budget.

  2. We are down bad!😭 I know there had to be someone out there better. Pearl must of settled. This is not good at all especially coming off a first round exit in the NCAA Tournament. I don't know if I can watch when we play Alabama.🤣

I am assuming we will know something by the latest at the end of the weekend. Summer classes are starting soon and portal players need to be enrolled on top of starting practices. Auburn is due for some good basketball news.

There's really not many top recruits left in the portal that could be starters. I am shock that Alabama took basketball more serious than Auburn. Auburn went to the Final Four before their rival and you would of thought the resources would have been more than what they are currently. Next season might be Pearl's best chance to get back with 7 seniors.

If you want it in short - Auburn is scratching the bottom of the bottom of the barrel

Hell they offered RJ Godfrey like a month and a half and dozens of other commits ago. And he was pretty middling statistically and role wise for that point in the cycle. I don't want to advise anyone of anything but what we've seen to this point would make me temper my expectations for whoever this next commit will be

Auburn must be down really bad? What happened with Bruce's recruiting touch? He usually closes when the recruit visits campus. I can't believe this guy was even granted a visit. If Bruce is this desperate, Dior Johnson may actually get a chance at Auburn. I know he sees how loaded Alabama will be next season.

  5. I feel like schools are going to regret for not giving Dior Johnson a chance. I'm sure he's not worried about NIL or a starting spot. He just wants a chance to prove himself. He's the type of point guard that has the firepower we need. Teams will not be able to sag in the post. If he has the grades, the right attitude and has not gotten in any trouble since his legal issue, sign him! Auburn is not in a place to be picky right now especially if the NIL funds are low. We are tired of early tournament exits because the guard play is terrible.

Dillon Mitchell visited yesterday. I’m going to just paraphrase what I saw online. He basically enjoyed his visit, likes Pearl and likes that Pearl has put multiple big guys in NBA. Just some really generic stuff, nothing groundbreaking. Reading between the lines, looks like we more than likely whiffed on another quality big guy. I also read that Cincinnati apparently is the leader for him. Oh well. Don’t know who else is on Auburn’s radar. As I said before, it’s really tough being an Auburn basketball fan at times, especially when you see other rivals get who they want in the portal and we’re losing guys to the likes of UCF and Cincinnati.

UCF and Cincinnati must have more NIL money than Auburn. Auburn has to find another PG and PF. We got to have more offensive firepower. No disrespect, but Chris Moore is not the answer. Is there any update on Dior Johnson?

  7. I'm hoping everything works out for Dior Johnson. I feel like he's hungry and just needs a second chance to prove himself. He can really score from all levels on the floor. If everything doesn't work out for Anchor, I  wonder what is the next move.

So it looks like Pearl and Auburn are going to go with the team we have. No movement or rumors for the past week now since we stroked out on our targets in the past few weeks. Don’t know how I feel about that.

What happened to Dior Johnson? Did the staff decide to go in a different direction? No final word on Anchor?

What research? You can do the same research about the case right now with Google as they could

I was saying research as in reviewed court documents, spoke with his current JC coach, asked him tough questions to see where his head is and maturity level. Get his view on life after his legal issues. I'm talking about things Google doesn't offer.

It’s literally been barely two years since the incident, and I’m sorry, this isn’t just some minor incident involving him like running too many red lights or stop signs. He beat the crap out of a woman. There’s a fine line between making a mistake and then something deeper going on to make you want to let your emotions control you and beat up a woman.

Yes, but do you hold that over his head forever? How do you know he haven't apologized for his actions and was accountable. We don't know if he showed remorse and regret. He could of been dealing with anger issues or mental illness. He may need some tough love and for someone to show that they care. He was 17 at the time. We all need people to show us grace.

  11. I would take a chance with Dior. I'm sure the staff did their research and gave their expectations if he was to come to Auburn. He's very talented player and I think he's looking for someone to give him a chance to prove himself. He was a former 5 star player and was the #1 pg in his class. I think he has matured since that incident.

I think it comes down to the same thing it was with Duke Miles. What are his goals? Logically, if he wants to be on a championship team in his senior, it’s Auburn no doubt. But if he wants to be a guaranteed starter and make a lot of NIL in the process, then it’ll be exactly what Duke did. The public perception will also be a black eye to Auburn losing out on him to UCF or Wake Forest.

Hopefully, he's sold on playing in the SEC and not the BIG 12 or ACC. If it comes down to NIL, I worry. Then I am so tired of the Alabama fans bragging about their commitments and how they are winning it all next season.

Love this kids game. He could get minutes at both PG and SG. He has complete offensive package. He goes to rack and scores, hits the three. And has a nice pull up jumper on a drive.

Adding him to our backcourt along with Pegeus and Pettiford and PG goes from a weakness to a strength and SG gets better also.

Please find a way to get him.

I agree. He's also a taller guard. Kansas has started to show interest and we don't have the NIL funds to compete with them. I also wonder why he decommitted from Virginia Tech.

The good news is that Pearl is going after known and top quality portal players, and these guys aren’t bench players. Jordan Ivy-Curry from UTSA is supposedly coming for a visit as well. Those guys would be immediate starters or Ivy-Curry would at least get significant playing time.

As for UAT, yea, they got a great defensive player today, but that’s literally all he does. No offense. So they’re basically trading offense for defense. And again, the other portal players they have are rated around what Pegues is, so it’s a wash there as well. I really think Auburn fans are over inflating UAT’s roster.

I feel like Pearl is going after players that he's hoping doesn't ask for much NIL money. His hands are tied due to NIL funds and that's a shame. He has taken Auburn basketball to new heights and should be given ALL resources needed to recruit at the highest level. I hate to keep saying it, but I can see him leaving Auburn for Indiana if that job opens and he's offered. I would think they will give him everything he needs when it comes to NIL and resources becausethey are desperate to win. I hope I am wrong. Auburn needs to step it up. Football has been terrible the last 5 seasons, but they receive the most NIL funds. What about basketball?

I meant to edit my earlier post. Got confused with my positions. I believe Achor Achor would take Chaney’s spot and Broome would be the 5. Although I could see them switch sometimes. That would be ideal. And then have Chaney and Cardwell off the bench, they would be formidable backups to Broome and Achor Achor.

We must sign him! I love BP as a coach but this seniority or loyalty to players on the roster by bringing in back ups only is about to get us left behind. We need firepower at the PF spot and we need another good point guard. The SEC will be loaded next season. Shame on Auburn for not giving BP all the resources he needs to bring home a NC and sign the best players. Our arch is lightning the recruiting trail up while we are settling and trying to do more with less.

It’s been reported on AU sites today we don’t much if any NIL money left for next years bball team. Bruce continues to have a smaller war chest to work with than our rivals. Cal can snap his fingers at arky now and if he needs any extra cash they are giving it to him to build a very talented roster. Bruce always has to hit on some crazy evals like Chaney and CBM and do more with less.

If the Indiana job open up next season, I can see Bruce moving on.

Oh I agree with you and I kind of know that many of these coaches are just used car salesmen, telling these players what they want to hear. But this is where I get confused. Take UAT for example. Their coach literally plays only 7 players, maybe 8, during a game, yet they have like 6 guards, 3 forwards right now and might get another highly touted portal player. I just want to know where the adults are during these conversations telling them,” Look, he only plays 7 guys a game, you’ll be fighting for minutes every week,”. Even more confusing, don’t know why any big man would want to play for him. His offense is guard oriented and he literally just has his big guys to rebound and make put backs, that’s it. It’s not revolved around them. Again, many of these players are severely misguided throughout this process.

NIL is key also. Rumors are Philon picked Alabama because they offered the most NIL money.

So apparently Duke is visiting Oklahoma today. Probably guaranteeing to become a starter since they lost a couple of guards there. If that’s the case, he’ll probably commit there unfortunately. This is the one thing where I don’t understand how other teams can stack a roster with star players but with Auburn it’s a struggle and we usually have to go down a level to get reserves.

I feel like Bruce is upfront with recruits when they visit. Some other coaches tell you what you want to hear to sign you. I expect a lot of transfers out of Alabama next season. Kids are coming out of high school with big egos and rarely told no. They want to start immediately and the outside noise gets in their ears having them thinking they are the next big thing. I like the players Auburn sign that play with a chip on their shoulders because they feel overlooked.
