Tomorrow until Thursday. He is from my hometown. Saw him play against Sharife  in the state playoffs. This kid is a polished warrior. Brother plays lb for Kentucky. Dad was an NFL Lb.  Very good kid from a great family. He would be a perfect fit for us. CJ Uzomah went to his HS. He is an Auburn type kid. Works hard and not a look at me type.

Does he have 2 years of eligibility?

I don't think there's too many times since Oats has come there that Bama hasn't had the more talented roster on paper (off of the top of my head 2021-22 is the only time I think we had a definitely better roster). Auburn has competed well, even with Pearl having a slight losing record in the H2H. That's why I don't understand the doom and gloom or comparisons to their recruiting - Auburn may get less talented guys but Pearl's appeal is that he does more than less.

Now, it'd be nice if we had more talented rosters so he didn't have to do that, but

Maybe Auburn doesn't have the amount of NIL money for basketball as Alabama. It could also be BP only takes the players he believes fits his system. You must play defense to play for Pearl and I don't think he puts up with players that have big egos or may be a cancer to the locker room. I remember the rumor that he rejected the offer to Zion Cruz because of his attitude when he came to visit.

Did he not even consider Auburn since he at one time was an AU commit? Is CBP losing his recruiting mojo?

The rumor is that Alabama offered him the most NIL money. Kansas may have reduced their offer after all the signings of multiple upperclassmen from the portal. I can bet there will be a lot of transfers out of Alabama after next season. There's only so many minutes that can disbursed among that many players and who will check their ego for the sake of the team. I still think Auburn can compete with them with the addition of another PG and PF.

  4. https://247sports.com/college/auburn/article/rj-godfrey-is-expected-to-be-in-auburn-next-week-231040691/

please put at least a portion of the article and not just a link.

Looking for more help on the interior heading into the 2024-25 season, coach Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers will get a key visitor on campus next week when Clemson transfer RJ Godfrey comes to the Plains for an official visit on April 30. The son of former Georgia and NFL linebacker Randall Godfrey, the 6-8, 228-pounder has played in 69 games in two seasons at Clemson. Playing just over 15 minutes per game last season for the Tigers, Godfrey averaged 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor and 62.7 percent from the free throw line. He connected on 3-7 shots from behind the arc last year.

Auburn is looking to replace the departed Jaylin Williams at the power forward position and Godfrey could be a big piece of that along with the return of Chaney Johnson. The Tigers also return All-SEC big man Johni Broome as well as fellow center Dylan Cardwell.

A 3-star prospect coming out of North Gwinnett High in Suwanee, Georgia, Godfrey was the No. 132 player overall in the 247Sports Composite in the 2022 class. He originally chose Clemson over Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Utah.

Since going into the portal, Godfrey has visited Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. He's also received interest from schools like Arizona, Butler, LSU, Mississippi State and TCU.

Analysis from 247Sports on Godfrey coming out of high school:

Has a top notch physique at 6-7. Powerful athlete. Son of a former NFL linebacker. Controls horizontal space. Quick off the floor vertically. Wants to attack the basket and finish but is also adept at creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Is a keep the defense honest three-point shooter with somewhat of a mechanical release. Partly because of his physical strength, handles the ball with composure and sees the court. Has a feel for the developing pass and can accurately deliver it. Defensively can guard all five positions. Is a highly capable rebound. Doesn't overwhelm in any one particular area of the game, but is solid across the board, plays with intelligence and composure, and has imposing powerful athleticism.

I agree the only way they are getting Philon is if Sears isnt coming back, and that will lead to our least favorite former Krystals All American being unhappy.

I have a feeling he ends up at Ole Miss due to Flanigan.

I'm from the Mobile area and the buzz now is he's going to Alabama. He may be a silent commit. We shall see.

Bammers are hoping that he goes to them.

Alabama has gotten the big head since they made the Final Four. It is going to be hard trying to pull in all those egos and keep everybody happy with playing time. I don't see Philon going to Alabama. They are stacked at the guard positions.

I know at one time he seemed to like us a lot. Any chance the reason he is leaving Kansas to come to us?

Probably because Kansas recruited over him. High profile players do not sign to come sit on the bench and high five. I hope he returns back to Auburn.

Labaron Philon is asking for his release from NLI at Kansas.  Could he come back to AU?

Kansas recruited over him. Hopefully, he comes back to Auburn. He is very dangerous with the ball in his hands.

Dude CBP was upset at our fans for mildly chiding CBM after the tourney. You think he wants to go to Lexington where the heat is 10000 degrees hotter?

We will see. I hope he doesn't, but money talks and Kentucky has way more resources than Auburn.

What makes you so confident? Kentucky will provide more NIL money, a bigger salary and Rupp Arena which are great assets. What is BP's buyout? I hope he stays, but I wouldn't be shock if he leaves.

Auburn announces 10-year deal with Nike

    4/9/2024 8:50:00 AM

Story Line From Auburn Athletic Director John Cohen:

"We are excited to enter this new partnership with Nike, a brand that consistently champions athletes and sport around the world. We are appreciative of their strong support throughout this process. We believe that our 10-year agreement, beginning in July 2025, will continue to elevate Auburn and best serve our student-athletes and our university moving forward."

"We are also grateful to Kevin Plank and Under Armour for their 18 years of valued partnership in growing the Auburn brand and serving our student athletes, coaches, and fans. We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate this relationship throughout the final year ahead."

  12. I was thinking the same thing. The way Cardwell and Broome protects the rim will be hard to replace. I can see Cardwell returning. There may be a slight chance Broome returns because he's not listed on any of the draft boards. Maybe he's tired of college and wants to play overseas. I'm sure this staff will reload in the portal. The guard play is set for next season especially with the electric freshman guard coming in.

  13. We have missed out on Cam Scott to Texas and the big man to Kansas. Who are the next targets the staff is making a priority? I don't understand why Pearl and staff did not make Scott a priority. Philon, who decomitted, is trending towards Ole Miss. For the last two years, it seems as if this staff puts all their eggs in one basket and continue to get burned. They did the same thing with the Center that ended up signing with Arkansas. What's next?
