  1. Hopefully, he's sold on playing in the SEC and not the BIG 12 or ACC. If it comes down to NIL, I worry. Then I am so tired of the Alabama fans bragging about their commitments and how they are winning it all next season.
  2. I agree. He's also a taller guard. Kansas has started to show interest and we don't have the NIL funds to compete with them. I also wonder why he decommitted from Virginia Tech.
  3. Who else is he considering and will NIL be a factor in him signing?
  4. I feel like Pearl is going after players that he's hoping doesn't ask for much NIL money. His hands are tied due to NIL funds and that's a shame. He has taken Auburn basketball to new heights and should be given ALL resources needed to recruit at the highest level. I hate to keep saying it, but I can see him leaving Auburn for Indiana if that job opens and he's offered. I would think they will give him everything he needs when it comes to NIL and resources becausethey are desperate to win. I hope I am wrong. Auburn needs to step it up. Football has been terrible the last 5 seasons, but they receive the most NIL funds. What about basketball?
  5. We must sign him! I love BP as a coach but this seniority or loyalty to players on the roster by bringing in back ups only is about to get us left behind. We need firepower at the PF spot and we need another good point guard. The SEC will be loaded next season. Shame on Auburn for not giving BP all the resources he needs to bring home a NC and sign the best players. Our arch is lightning the recruiting trail up while we are settling and trying to do more with less.
  6. If the Indiana job open up next season, I can see Bruce moving on.
  7. NIL is key also. Rumors are Philon picked Alabama because they offered the most NIL money.
  8. I feel like Bruce is upfront with recruits when they visit. Some other coaches tell you what you want to hear to sign you. I expect a lot of transfers out of Alabama next season. Kids are coming out of high school with big egos and rarely told no. They want to start immediately and the outside noise gets in their ears having them thinking they are the next big thing. I like the players Auburn sign that play with a chip on their shoulders because they feel overlooked.
  9. We need him. He's not afraid of contact and plays with confidence.
  10. Who's up next? Are there any other PF that Auburn is looking at?
  11. Does he have 2 years of eligibility?
  12. Maybe Auburn doesn't have the amount of NIL money for basketball as Alabama. It could also be BP only takes the players he believes fits his system. You must play defense to play for Pearl and I don't think he puts up with players that have big egos or may be a cancer to the locker room. I remember the rumor that he rejected the offer to Zion Cruz because of his attitude when he came to visit.
  13. The rumor is that Alabama offered him the most NIL money. Kansas may have reduced their offer after all the signings of multiple upperclassmen from the portal. I can bet there will be a lot of transfers out of Alabama after next season. There's only so many minutes that can disbursed among that many players and who will check their ego for the sake of the team. I still think Auburn can compete with them with the addition of another PG and PF.
  14. You are right. The games are won on the court and not paper. I'm curious to see how Oates keep everyone happy. On another note, I see where Kansas spent $4M in NIL money.
  15. https://247sports.com/college/auburn/article/rj-godfrey-is-expected-to-be-in-auburn-next-week-231040691/ please put at least a portion of the article and not just a link. Looking for more help on the interior heading into the 2024-25 season, coach Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers will get a key visitor on campus next week when Clemson transfer RJ Godfrey comes to the Plains for an official visit on April 30. The son of former Georgia and NFL linebacker Randall Godfrey, the 6-8, 228-pounder has played in 69 games in two seasons at Clemson. Playing just over 15 minutes per game last season for the Tigers, Godfrey averaged 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor and 62.7 percent from the free throw line. He connected on 3-7 shots from behind the arc last year. Auburn is looking to replace the departed Jaylin Williams at the power forward position and Godfrey could be a big piece of that along with the return of Chaney Johnson. The Tigers also return All-SEC big man Johni Broome as well as fellow center Dylan Cardwell. A 3-star prospect coming out of North Gwinnett High in Suwanee, Georgia, Godfrey was the No. 132 player overall in the 247Sports Composite in the 2022 class. He originally chose Clemson over Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Utah. Since going into the portal, Godfrey has visited Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. He's also received interest from schools like Arizona, Butler, LSU, Mississippi State and TCU. Analysis from 247Sports on Godfrey coming out of high school: Has a top notch physique at 6-7. Powerful athlete. Son of a former NFL linebacker. Controls horizontal space. Quick off the floor vertically. Wants to attack the basket and finish but is also adept at creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Is a keep the defense honest three-point shooter with somewhat of a mechanical release. Partly because of his physical strength, handles the ball with composure and sees the court. Has a feel for the developing pass and can accurately deliver it. Defensively can guard all five positions. Is a highly capable rebound. Doesn't overwhelm in any one particular area of the game, but is solid across the board, plays with intelligence and composure, and has imposing powerful athleticism.
  16. I'm happy for Chris, but we need more firepower. Our in-state rival will be loaded next season and I can't stomach the thought of being swept by them.
  17. I'm from the Mobile area and the buzz now is he's going to Alabama. He may be a silent commit. We shall see.
  18. He is listed as an do not contact transfer. Maybe he knows where he's going or he will contact the schools he's interested in.
  19. Alabama has gotten the big head since they made the Final Four. It is going to be hard trying to pull in all those egos and keep everybody happy with playing time. I don't see Philon going to Alabama. They are stacked at the guard positions.
  20. Probably because Kansas recruited over him. High profile players do not sign to come sit on the bench and high five. I hope he returns back to Auburn.
  21. Kansas recruited over him. Hopefully, he comes back to Auburn. He is very dangerous with the ball in his hands.
  22. Are we looking at any Power Forwards to sign?
