  1. Yeah, I'm not sure how Auburn having very limited success in 5-10% of their athletics negates being mid in the other 90-95%.

With the amount of revenue that the entire department brings in, you'd think we'd be near the top of the SEC across the board, not near the bottom with other schools that earn significantly less than what Auburn does.

Have to agree with you. JH is proven, but as good as Alston and Cobb have looked in limited time, I’m far from convinced either are built for more than 10-12 carries a game in this league. To me,  just as last year, I am already hearing HF being negative about PT. He brought him to AU, didn’t  go after another, even partially proven QB in the portal, but still, unless it’s all smoke and mirrors, continues to be using and treating PT as more of an excuse for failure, instead of building him up any. I mean damn, the kid played QB in the second best conference in the land and put up decent numbers. My point is, I want HF to put up or shut his damn mouth, because he’s proven nothing in the SEC.

I think the bold is the issue. A guy with as much experience as he has had shouldn't be making basic mistakes. If Auburn were loaded, he'd probably be fine, but when the team's talent isn't great enough to overcome 6-7 miscues a game by the quarterback, then the losses start to pile up.

If he were a sophomore making late reads and missing open receivers, he'd be on the bench. You'd think that a guy with [about to be] five seasons of football under his belt would be able to get the basic things consistently right at a minimum. Freeze knows that he really only has three years to show his mettle, and Peyton wasting two of them is a death sentence unless the team were to win 9-10 games in 2025.

Mystery solved?  Not fast enough to play WR in the SEC.

A 4.8 40 for a WR is abhorrent even in the Sun Belt conference. A 4.8 wouldn't even work in the Canadian Football League, and he's too weak/small to play TE or DE as of now.

Agreed.   The comparisons to the potato head are just wishful thinking.  “debose” is not potato head, but he ain’t DeBear either!   I’m not sure how it’s going to work out at bama following the 🐐, but I like our chances now more than I did in December.

I liked our chances before. DeBoer was able to field a national championship-worthy defense at Washington where the only recruiting hotbed was Cali. You drop him in the deep south with a team that is already loaded and a sure-fire coaching staff that specializes in offense, and you have the makings of another dynasty. If we couldn't beat the worst Bama team in a decade-and-a-half, then I'm really not sure about where we'll stand in the next few years.

I don’t think PT is a bad qb. I truly believe with the right roster he is very competent. The biggest issue is people think next year roster will be the saving grace. That’s still a rebuild roster .

The issue is that he needs a literally perfect offensive roster in order to be competent.

At MSU, he had a great receiver, great running back and solid O-Line and still didn't do anything.

You can say that he's mid. No one here will judge you.

About the same with this o line. We can’t run the ball either. No time to pass, no running lanes? Are we blaming J Hunter for not having 100 yards rushing?

Let's not act like our O-line is anywhere near as bad as Colorado's.

It quite obviously isn't. Colorado's line is quite possibly the worst in the power 5.

We definitely need to get a playmaker and leader at qb. Nobody wins anything big in spite of their qb.

If your qb needs all sec players all around him to be good he's not a great qb. For whatever reason it seems Auburn fans think the team carries the qb as opposed to a qb being so good he makes everybody Around him better.... now I guess we're trying to make this guy good for whatever reason.

In regards to the bolded, I wouldn't even say that someone like that is even a good quarterback because what happens when he plays a defense that is just as talented as / more than his offense? They'd struggle like Thorne did against Ohio State and Michigan in 2022.

The college football game is more of a business now than it ever has been.  If we had infinite resources going and getting a transfer QB would be an easy call.   But, we don't have infinite resources.   Are you better off spending, just say $750,000, for a 1 year transfer QB in a year where you are on the road at Bama and UGA, or spending $200,000 for an elite HS edge, $150,000 on an elite HS LB and $150,000 on a HS lock down corner, $150,000 on a HS safety and $100,000 on a HS OL?

Factoring in that the O-line isn't THAT bad, and the incoming flock of receivers are stellar, I'd say that, yes, a 1-year rental is great.

If Freeze had 5 years to make something happen, I'd agree with you, but he needs at least 7-8 wins.

Looking at the schedule for next year, there's a guaranteed 3-4 wins.

He can't afford to turn-in another 6-6 season unless he goes sicko mode in recruiting and most of the losses are close.

This is an over-reach IMO.   We won 6 games with him as the starter and should have won both of UGA and Bama.  Would we be down on Thorne if we were 8-4 rn?  It took the staff  8 games to realize the QB shuffle was not working.  Remember the interception in the second half of the UGA game that went right through Riley's arms and belly?  If he completes that catch we win the game.   Remember the D giving up 200 yards of offense and 3 scores on UGA's last 3 possessions?  Complete back breaker.   Also, our offensive game plan was way too predictable at times this year.   We were in a rut of run on 1st down, get behind the chains and then have to throw.   Thorne has shown he gives you a chance to win 8 games without a single stud receiver around him.    8 wins is probably our ceiling in 24 no matter who is taking snaps.

Thorne played a miniscule role in most of the 6 wins we had. Let's not act like he was putting up 200 yards and 2 touchdowns a game...

I feel like we won in spite of him at times. You can't watch him miss / almost miss easy throws on a weekly basis and say that my post was an over-reach.

UGA scoring 3 times in a row to end the game isn't even a knock on the defense. UGA has top-notch talent offensively and happened to wake up towards the end of the game. The D playing out of their minds for 3 quarters was an aberration, not the norm. Remember, THAT'S THE #1 TEAM in the nation.
