This O actually looks worse than last years and we’ve played nobody yet.

I wouldn't say that. The O-line looks much better so far and receivers are actually getting open. The QB position looks about the same, with the exception that Thorne can hit wide open players.

Edit: But it's definitely looking like another 5-7 season may be on the horizon.

  2. Sooooo, we're really going to act like "not having a rhythm" is a valid excuse for why Thorne looks like garbage out there? I would think that, that would be pretty low on the totem pole of reasons why he played poorly on Saturday.

Frankly, I just don't think he's that good, and the offense isn't talented enough to mask that.

It could also be a possibility that Cal just has a top notch defense.... maybe it's a combination of the above. Who knows? Let's give him until after the A&M.

They do look better on offense. But that league still can’t play defense.
Also, I do not regret our choice in coaches.

The Pac 12 & Big 12 can't play defense, sure, but we shouldn't act like they wouldn't have dropped 50 on UMASS by the early-3rd quarter. They just have much more talent offensively, and Auburn still looks pedestrian through the air at best.

Colorado might earn a 9-10 win season if that defense improves marginally on the ground.

  4. The season literally just ended for Auburn and the expectations are already out of this damn world lol.

Bama and Georgia will be better next year, 8-4 is...actually MUCH more reasonable after looking at the schedule. I'd say we go 7-5 though.

"Win the SEC"....not even gonna answer that one. Just...how? Not mentioning Bama and UGA, Auburn has LSU in Death Valley. As I said before someone at Auburn needs to speak with the SEC about removing one of those three teams from the yearly schedule. That lineup is absolutely bananas.

This is such a overused lazy and just flat out wrong take. Freeze is a relentless recruiter who had 2 top 10 classes at ole miss of all places. Please miss me with the cheating bs!! Spare me. They got caught that was their biggest mistake. We all know the best recruiting schools are always at the top for a reason. Ole miss just didn’t have a system in place that dates back several years where it was a art form on how to not get caught. Freeze has enormous passing success with his offenses in the sec. Chad Kelly was a 4k yard passer in 2015 with 31 tds and had a 1k yard WR in laquon treadwell (who became a first round draft pick) which is something AU has not done since 99. Freeze has also recruited the OL much better than Gus. Multiple 5 star and high 4 star OL. Look at the WR’s he coached and signed that are now in the NFL. AJ Brown and DK Metcalf are 2 of the nfl’s best WRs. Both were 2nd round draft picks. Doesn’t sound very Gus like at all.

Great post. I personally think he's a better coach than Kiffin, but the baggage is quite a bit.

I'm not really one to judge though because I used to wild out myself haha.

  6. We're having trouble landing the big name coaches because while, yes, Auburn is/has all of the things that you mentioned, it also is in the toughest conference in the country with their 3 biggest rivals being 3 of the 10 most prestigious programs...and they don't seem to be trending downwards any time soon...and we play them every year. Add in Texas and Oklahoma joining here shortly, incredibly high and unrealistic expectations, and a rabid fanbase and it's not hard to see why kats would pass on being the HC.

  7. He needs to be taken into the lab and given a boatload of instruction and reps from a legit QB coach. He's flawed from the ground-up (abysmal footwork, overall poor QB instincts [oftentimes can be caught not even looking downfield at his receivers when pressured].)

BUT, he's such a weapon as an option QB that you just have to keep him at that position imo, and hope that he improves as a passer. I THINK that he can become a competent passer if given the time and resources. Unfortunately for him, Auburn, as a program, has very little patience.

Call Dan Lanning back!!!!!  Do what is necessary to bring him back to the SEC before he gets too rooted in Oregon!

No way he leaves Oregon for Auburn. At this point in time, that'd be a downgrade.
