  1. Game between  #7 GEORGIA  and  #10 AUBURN is underway...

    UPDATES:

    - After 1:  Auburn 1 - Georgia 2 (bad throwing error by Wohlers cost Auburn an out and a couple of scores)

    - After 2:  Still Auburn 1 - Georgia 2

    - After 3:  Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 4:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 5:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2  (bad running error by Packer may have cost us a run, so far AU has 6 hits while GA has 3)

    - After 6:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 7:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 8:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 9:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

    - After 10:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2  (Shelby Lowe replaced Maddie Penta to begin the 10th inning)

    - After 11:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2

-After 12:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2 (AU took a risk and walked a GA top hitter to load the bases with 2 outs.  Lowe struck the next batter out...whew!)

    - After 13:  Still Auburn 2 - Georgia 2 (GA had a runner on 3rd with 2 outs but the next batter hit a fly ball to shallow left for the third out...whew again!)

    - Top of the 14th, KK McCrary hits a 3-run homer with 2 outs and AU fans are ecstatic...we think we're going to win!

Bottom of the 14th, GA answers with a 3-run homer of their own, with no outs, followed by a solo home run to win the game...

Final score is Georgia 6 - Auburn 5

Shelby Lowe called Dean to the circle in the bottom of the 14th and it looked like she was telling him she couldn't see.  He talked to her for a minute and she stayed in.  After pitching brilliantly for 4 innings, she was leaving pitches over the middle of the plate.  Anybody know what happened?  Defense was also sloppy in the bottom of the 14th.  Awful way to end the game.

  2. #5 Missouri vs #13 Ole Miss should start around 2:30 this afternoon.

#5 Missouri beat #13 Ole Miss 3-1.  Ole Miss only struck out once (I think).  Gotta hand it to them for their performance over the past few weeks.

So, looks like Auburn vs Georgia should start about 5:10.  Hope Auburn pitchers shut down Georgia's HR offense...

  3. LSU vs Bama game getting interesting.  Bama scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning and score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the 6th inning.  LSU loaded the bases with walks and hit-by-pitches and Bama pitcher walked a batter and then hit a batter to tie things up at 2-2 heading into the 7th...

    UPDATES:

    -  Heading to the 11th still tied 2-2.  Bama says they 'own' the 11th inning because they beat us in 11.  GO BENGAL TIGERS!!!

    -  Headed to the 12th still tied 2-2.  This one has gone 3+ hours at this point so looks like the rest of today's games could be delayed.

    -  Headed to the 13th still tied 2-2.

    -  And, it's on to the 14th.  Bama has used 2 pitchers, Beaver and Briski.  Berzon has thrown all 200 pitches for LSU today.

    - With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th, LSU WALKS IT OFF!!!  Final score LSU 3 - Bama 2

35 minutes after previous game ends,     #5 Missouri  vs  #13  Ole Miss

WIDRA! WIDRA! WIDRA!  I was not liking Auburn chances coming into this game.  If you had told me beforehand that we would keep them scoreless and Widra would pitch the entire game, I would have thought you had been out in the sun too long.  Happy for the team but so proud for Widra.  Also, Wohlers made a great play at 3rd base for last out of 5th inning.  Agree that having Lech bunt not a great strategy unless the opposing team faints.

I felt exactly the same.  Was so discouraged by last night's game I almost didn't watch today.  Really glad I did.

I think it was during the Arkansas series that Mark Fuller (former Auburn baseball pitcher, pitching coach, and broadcast host of a lot of Auburn baseball home games on SEC+) was tapped to join Amy Reif on the broadcast for one game.  He said he didn't know softball like he does baseball but I enjoyed his perspective.  Early on in the game he commented that while Arkansas looked comfortable and confident at the plate, Auburn looked just the opposite...and that continued throughout the game and was reflected in the score.  This series, Tresvik has looked defeated as soon as she steps into the box.  Weak swings with her arms, not using her legs, walks back to the dugout hanging her head.  Peralta, too, at times.  The team as a whole hit better today but they all need to show confidence, good form, and aggression in the box (IMHO).  Can't win without runs!  Milanowski was great today!

Widra was great today! We need her to step up and carry the load for the pitching staff. Hopefully Tamborra, Rolfe, and incoming recruit Godfrey can help.

The environment was pretty good today too. The stadium was about 80% full today, but it’s annoying to see so many empty seats behind home plate with so many standing room only people.

Isn't graduation today?  If so, that probably dissuaded some people from attending (traffic, hotel reservations, etc.)  But agree...would love to see the stadium full at every game.  Wish I lived close enough to attend.

I was thinking last night about Penta and Lowe pitching most of the innings these past 4 years and wondering what that means for next year.  So happy for Widra's success today and hope it carries over into the post season and to next year.  Rolfe is already a sophomore and hasn't had much success when she has had opportunities.  She was a very highly-rated recruit so hope things will click for her (and Tamborra) SOON.  Maybe the new coach will be able to acquire a top pitcher or two from the portal.

  7. What a brilliant job in the circle by Widra...soooo darned happy for her and for the team.  There were a couple of insane decisions in the game (Wohlers rounding 3rd for home and being being easily thrown out, Lech - as slow as she is - bunting with 0 outs and nobody on base, McNemar trying to steal second and being thrown out by a mile, etc.) but a great win in the end.  Glad Penta and Lowe got to rest today.  War Eagle!

This season is on Dean and it started way before February. It started last fall when he couldn't keep his team together. The Big Bopper Bri Ellis is hitting for a high average and had 14 homers at Arky the last time I looked. Jessi Blane was hitting 350 and had 6 homers at Moo State. Denver Bryant was at 300 batting average with something like ten doubles at So. Carolina. At the moment I'm forgetting someone else, a former AU starter who is succeeding elsewhere. Put those four back in the lineup with our pitching and we're a good team. Dean had to GO!

    Lindsey Garcia at Clemson?

Cohen must monitor these forums because he got some airtime on the broadcast tonight.

We probably played ourselves out of any chance to host a regional this weekend, but it was good to see Lowe get the win tonight. If we avoid the 1.5 rain delay, we likely get the win on Saturday too.

A 1-2 punch of Penta and Lowe in a regional will not be a good matchup for many teams. Hopeful we can find some offense soon to support them.

I wasn't able to watch the game in real time but watched the replay.  I didn't see/hear Cohen on that broadcast...may have somehow missed it, I guess.  What did he have to say?

  10. From Bama Central today (19 Apr 2024).  Interesting that he went to high school with 2 Alabama signees (who I assume will soon be on campus?).

Aden Holloway is a former McDonalds All-American point guard who played last season for the Auburn Tigers. Holloway was considered a 5-star player out of Prolific Prep, the same high school program that produced Alabama signees Aiden Sherrell and Derrion Reid. He averaged 7.3 points, 2.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game as a freshman for Bruce Pearl's team while shooting right at 30-percent from beyond the arc. Holloway is currently in the middle of a visit to Tuscaloosa as he weighs his transfer options.

no sir. after telling me i do not need chemo they changed their mind. every three weeks. it is a somewhat new program and is not supposed to poison my body. i am using clearview cancer center in anniston and let me say they are top notch. i actually enjoy going unlike other doctors. anyway they claim it is to be on the safe side. they are so amazing i bout 24 godiva chocolate bars to pass out on my next treatment.

Thanks for the update, aubiefifty.  Sorry to hear that you have to have chemo but it's great that you can be treated close to home.  And, promising that you'll receive less-toxic drugs than may have been available previously.  Wishing you all the best and will keep you in my prayers!
