I remember CHF before the bowl game talking about the state of the program and his strategy for rebuilding. He said year 1 we were so depleted he had to go heavy portal to get able bodies on the roster. But, long term his plan was to build the program with high school recruits and only use the portal when he saw a player that would be a significant upgrade. I think he believes thats where we / he is now, year 2. So, much more selective with the portal. Given this ‘strategy’ I do see him continuing to investigate who hits the portal / QB included this spring. Him / our new GM, and if they believe we can get a major upgrade at the right price they’ll make the move.

Thats like saying lets throw out Gus’ losing seasons and he was elite. I’m just saying I don’t understand why he gets the love he gets. One appearance in 12 years with ND in the NC game, with all he had to work with isn’t elite. Just my opinion. Obviously, others disagree because he seems to always be mentioned.

I get it. I’m just saying with all he had at ND he got them to 1 NC in 12 years and they were pummeled in it, 28 point loss. Overall 40 losses in 12 years which is more than 3 losses per year, not Elite in my estimation. As we all know ND and others always get the benefit of the doubt in the polls but, seem to consistently underperform / disappoint. But, somehow BK is cashing in Big Time!

I wish they had showed this intensity on the court! I don’t understand why we believe letting MSU control the pace of the game was a winning formula? You could tell after the 1st couple of minutes of the game we were content to walk the ball up, play our 1/2 court offense, settle for long 2s and 3s. That’s not who we are / have been this season in our wins. 11 mins in to the 1st half we had 10 points - I didn’t think we’d get to 20, we got to 21. But, nothing changed in the 2nd half. With our so called depth we should be controlling the pace / dictating play, forcing the competition to keep up with us. That was a bad game plan in my opinion.

Guys, long time member but, have been inactive for a while given the misfortunes of the past couple of years. Glad to be back and enthused by what I am seeing on The Plains. Can someone please help me understand the fascination with Brian Kelly? I just don’t get it. With all the cache, tools, resources he had at ND, what did he ever win? Anytime he got in a big game against a decent team he got his head handed to him aka NC vs UA. I just don’t understand what anyone would believe he could take them to the promised land…
