SLAG-91 1,483
https://brownstone.org/articles/seven-urgent-lesson-of-lockdowns/ A synopsis. 1. Don't take direction from oppressive regimes. (China's initial response was not to be trusted or looked at as a model.) 2. Our leaders need to have a sense of history and how similar events were handled. 3. Federalism > centralism 4. Legislature is our primary branch of government (i.e. it's their job to rein in overzealous executives, and many of them failed to do so) 5. Policies must thoroughly consider unintended consequences (although I think some of those consequences were absolutely intended by some of the more martinet-like authority figures) 6. Without scientific consensus, it's impossible to "follow the science." 7. America was not, and is not, intended to be run by purported experts in a very narrow field. (Too many executives abdicated their responsibilities and "led" under the advice of experts in some very focused discipline, with predictably poor outcomes. Their voices should be one of many, not the only one.)
