That feels like a "we don't really know what to do with this Auburn team. They don't look scary on paper but they are always good and we are tired of them making our rankings look bad" kind of ranking :)

Yeah, I was kinda surprised to see us ranked that high in preseason.   Maybe the voters are finally tired of AU burning them.  🤣

The pollsters know that Pearl will have a good team every year, no matter who we lose to the NBA.  Pearl has built a program that has the ability to compete for championships every year.  He laid a solid foundation and has continued to improve it every single year by making sure he has the best facilities, coaches, and support from the university to be among the best in the country.  It is truly a remarkable achievement given where AU had been.  Just getting the caliber of recruits and transfers he gets alone is amazing.  If the University makes sure that Pearl stays here by paying whatever it takes I don't see any reason why Auburn wont end up a perennial top 5 program for recruits.

The only reason we may not end the season better than 15th is because the SEC is going to be very good this year. There will be some beating up on each other.
