Gumball machine used as weapon in Salinas assaultSALINAS - A 27-year-old man was knocked unconscious Friday night when he was hit on the head with a gumball machine during a fight at a Salinas restaurant. According to the Salinas Police Department, a fight broke out around 11:13 p.m. Friday during a birthday party being held at Taquitos Mexican Restaurant located at 923 N. Main St. in Salinas. Police said `numerous gang members'' were attending the party. Police reported that several people began beating the victim, with one of the suspects using a gumball machine to hit the victim on the head. The victim was flown to South Valley Medical Center for treatment of head injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
