Tiger in Spain 0 Posted July 26, 2007 Share Posted July 26, 2007 McCain Trails in Alabama, Thompson Leads in GOP FieldA new survey shows potential presidential candidate Fred Thompson has jumped to the front of the Republican field in Alabama. Capital Survey Research Center, the polling arm of the Alabama Education Association (WTF? ), released a statewide survey showing Thompson, a former Tennessee senator, favored by 34 percent of likely Republican voters. Thompson was followed by Rudy Giuliani with 20 percent, Senator John McCain with eleven percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who hasn't announced, with seven percent, and Mitt Romney with five percent.
