Baseball vs #1 Ole Miss series

Recommended Posts

Big, big, big series coming up for Auburn as the #1 team in the country comes to Plainsman Park. Thursday, Friday, Saturday game weekend with first pitch of the series tonight at 6.

I know a lot of people will be hyped up for March Madness but I will hopefully be here to update (dependent on work) as the game goes on!

Lineup for game 1. Barnett on the mound and Sonny DiChiara starting his 2nd game in a row. Glad that his heel healed up before SEC play.

Barnett gets into a 3-2 count before giving up a single. It was a grounder down the line and Rambusch doesn't field it and hopes that it rolls foul but it doesn't. Don't think Rambusch would have been able to throw him out even if he fielded it.

Gets ahead 0-2 and then a wild pitch. Runner advances to 2nd. Barnett does get the 3 hole batter to strike out, though. 1 out.

Wyandt with a GREAT throw to throw out the runner trying to steal 3rd! Questionable decision by the base runner, there.

Barnett gets Elko to strikeout on 3 pitches!

Rambusch, Howell, and DiChiara up for Auburn

1-0 Ole Miss

Rambusch with a lead off single!

Howell hits it to the deepest part of the park and it's a fly out at the warning track.

BYE BYE BASEBALL!!!!!!

SONNY DICHIARA WITH A 2 RUN BOMB!!!

2-1 AUBURN

Carlson with a bullet to short but it was right at him.

CAM HILL WITH A DOUBLE OFF THE WALL IN LEFT CENTER!

Gaddis is getting hit hard right now. Hope this continues! After a mound visit, Gaddis gets Ware swinging.

2-1 Auburn T2nd!

Barnett with his 3rd straight strikeout but it gets away from Wyandt and Ole Miss runner is safe at 1st.

Slow roller to 1st and Barnett is able to get to the bag first, runner advances to 2nd, though.

Single to right field and a runner scores. :(

2-2

Another 3 pitch strikeout, Barnett is up to 4. Wish the first strikeout of the inning didn't get away from Wyandt.

Next pitch and the batter hits it a mile.

4-2 Ole Miss

Barnett walks the next batter and we have a mound visit. Passed ball and runner is in scoring position. Next pitch Wyandt saves a wild pitch. Flyout to mercifully end their half.

Moore, Dyal, Wyandt up to bat for Auburn.

4-2 Ole Miss

Activity in the Ole Miss bullpen. We've been tattooing these balls. Howell falls behind 0-2 before getting a nice sac fly to advance Rambusch to 3rd.

Open base at 1st and DiChiara already getting intentionally walked. Big at bat for Carlson.

Carlson goes down looking.

4-4 T3rd

Umpires reviewing a pitch that might have hit the batter. Call on the field is not hit but it looks like he got hit on the elbow pad.

Call stands but all of that time doesn't matter as Barnett walks him on the next pitch. Barnett spending A LOT of time worrying about runners on base.

Maybe too much as Elko rips a double off the wall and the runner scores. He gets thrown out trying to go to 3rd.

5-4 Ole Miss. Gonna be a short night for Barnett.

Another strikeout for Barnett. He's up to 5 for the night. 0-2 pitch and Barnett gives up the single up the middle. Another strikeout high, Wyandt can't hold onto it but he's able to throw it to 1st for the out.

Hill, Ware, Moore up for Auburn. Skipper was up and pitching probably going in the game next inning.

5-4 Ole Miss

8 pitch at bat for Hill but he strikes out looking.

WARE WITH A DOUBLE!

We're able to hit the ace on the #1 team. That gives me confidence if we can just keep it more consistent. Moore grounds out to 2B and it's super close. Runner advances to 3rd. Need 1 clutch it to tie it up.

Another strike out looking this time from Dyal. Gotta do a better job of getting the bat off the shoulder.

5-4 Ole Miss T4th

Skipper in for Barnett. Hopefully he can build on his previous good outing and get us deep into this game.

Flyout for out 1. Strikeout 1 for Skipper!

Sigh ... another home run for Gonzalez, that's 2 for the lead off hitter.

6-4 Ole Miss

Double into LF. Struck out the batter but Wyandt can't stop the ball again. Runner safe at first, the other runner advances to 3rd. Frustrated with this many passed balls.

Wyandt throws to 2nd to get the runner, ball gets away, runner scores on an error by Wyandt.

Absolutely ridiculous because Wyandt can't stop a ball that more runners score. 2nd time this game that's happened.

Edit: Gets the 4th out with another strikeout.

Wyandt, Rambusch, Howell up. Need some runs!

7-4 Ole Miss B4th

Wyandt strikes out on a ball in the dirt. Catcher stops it and tags Wyandt.

Rambusch walks on 4 pitches. He's been on base all 3 times. Another strikeout looking, this time Howell. SMH.

New pitcher for Ole Miss. This pitcher has a 7.04 ERA so hopefully we can get some runs on him.
