  1. Grimes is a Gus crutch hire and is like a very short time solution. wde
  2. If you don't realize how the recruiting dynamics have changed since Smart became UGA's HC then just damn...... you need to wake up. FWIW, the dynamics that have changed has nothing to do with anything other than Smart being a relentless recruiter who will push everything recruiting to the edge. Gus has to match Smart in the relentless area or we (AU) are going to be left very far behind very soon. Waiting for some phantom sanctions against UGA and spuat because they cheat and always out recruit us are just simply stupid. AU recruits the same way Smart at uga and Saban at spuat does. We are simply not as good at it, nor to we have the inside connections in Alabama. That doesn't mean we aren't trying just as hard as uga and spuat. Hell, Pat Dye modeled our program after his idol (Bear Bryant) and cheated just as hard as Bear did. Jay Jacobs was a Dye boy (and the only reason JJ became AD), so anyone with an IQ above 10 should understand. wde
  3. We had a good entree during the early signing period. I just don't want a Golden Gorral entree for the final entree. wde
  4. OK so,you think we will sign recruits that will meet our needs at OL and that missing out on critical recruits at LB and DB are OK with you on NSD? But, I will play to your overall theme, you think we have signed and will sign on NSD players that will enable us to compete with UGA and spuat consistently going forward given what uga and spuat has just signed and just had committed in the long term? Just asking. wde
  5. But very informative and IF, IF, IF accurate, Pruitt, Mullen, Kirby, Saban took our entrees and left us with leftovers. wde
  6. Yes you should always try to recruit the best players available, but it all starts at at the line of scrimmage on both side of the ball. This past season at AU is a great example, when both the DL and especially the OL played well, then good things happened. When one (mostly the the OL) played poorly then AU was unsuccessful and when when both the OL and DL played poorly like in the SECCG and Peach Bowl, AU had no chance. Play calling had a lot to do with poor performances on the O side of the ball in every one of our losses as well. wde
  7. Looks like our OL and CB recruiting will be lacking in this class. We need to always focus recruiting on good to great OL and DL. After that, everything takes care of itself. wde
  8. Hard to find positives in any form or fashion tonight. The stats are just as ugly as the eye test was while it was happening. wde
  9. I posted earlier that it was the best game AU has played since 2013. Heck, after thinking about it, I think todays game was the best game AU has played in Gus' entire time as HC including 2013. wde
  10. The D has definitely regressed. wde
  11. I am with you and add the sugar huddle. wde
  12. This is the same game that I saw as well. wde
  13. When I was a tutor for the football program during that time, Brent was not my favorite either. He was a hellauva running back though. wde
  14. Not looking at stats, Brent Fullwood and then Ronnie Brown for me. wde
  15. Nick Marshall was a no brainer coming out of JC based on our QB situation at the time.
  16. OK. With our current HC, a TE is a non-factor. With another HC, then the TE position can be a great asset. I hope Gatewood makes the right decision for himself if TE will be his best position. Our coaches have not had great success evaluating QBs out of HS. I am pretty sure Gatewood was offered as a QB by the same staff that offered JFIII. wde
  17. LOL. Ok. Who will be the HC at AU when this happens? So, you are thinking he will be a tight end?
  18. We will see if he is worthy of a scholly offer at QB. Since we do not use a TE, then if we offer him as a TE then it will be a wasted scholly. wde
