Good start............. CARLSBAD, Calif. – No. 6 Women's golf began the NCAA Championship with an opening round of 285 (-3), which places them in a tie for third place in the field of 30 teams. Freshman Anna Davis continued her impressive play after winning the Auburn Regional by carding a 3-under 69. "I saw a lot of maturity out of the team today," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "I think the course played differently in the afternoon than it did in the morning. It got firmer and it seemed like it played a little bit shorter so we had to make some adjustments off the tees on the fly. I think we like the course and I think we have a good plan for the course so as long as we stick to our plan and stay committed, we'll have more good days." After a slow start on the first two holes of the round, the Tigers heated up later in the day and ultimately tallied 16 birdies as a team. Auburn is five strokes behind 18-hole leader Clemson. Davis picked up two birdies on the front nine, then recorded back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12 including a chip-in from just short of the green on the 11th hole. Davis extended her rounds under par streak to three after Friday's round and recorded her 11th round under par this season. Redshirt sophomore Casey Weidenfeld carded a 2-under 70 in her opening round which included four birdies. Senior Megan Schofill was 2-over through 12 holes at the Champions Course at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, but picked up three birdies in her final four holes of the round to finish at 1-under (71). Schofill and Weidenfeld each recorded their 15th round under par this season on Friday. Senior Anna Foster settled in after a 3-over start through her first two holes of the day to post a 75 (+3), which was the final counting score for the Tigers. "I'm especially proud of Anna Foster for having a rough start and just never getting upset," Luellen said about the senior. "She's unflappable, just parring away. She had a lot of birdie looks but didn't make anything today so I think it bodes well for tomorrow." Auburn played under cloudy but comfortable conditions on Friday afternoon during the opening round and will now play in the morning wave beginning just after 9 a.m. CT during Saturday's second round paired with players from LSU and UCLA. "All of the top ranked teams are in the same boat as we are in, so I like that we're playing under the same conditions," continued Luellen. It's a quick turnaround. We'll get to bed as early as we can and get up. It'll be a very early morning but we know that is part of the deal here." The championship format includes 30 teams and six individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play on Friday-Sunday. Then the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will compete in one additional day of stroke play on Monday to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams after 72 holes of play will be placed into a bracket with the No. 1 seed playing the No. 8 seed, the No. 2 seed playing the No. 7 seed, the No. 3 seed playing the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed playing the No. 5 seed in match play. Three rounds of match play will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday to decide the national champion. Never in my life have I seen this great of scoring in a regional. We shot 20 under par today alone ended up at 21 under for entire tourney. We made up 13 strokes on VA today and this is not an easy course. Our two freshmen shot 4 and 5 under today. Now on to Nationals..............we have a great team best I've ever seen at Auburn AU -21 under VA -13 under Texas Tech -8 under Ohio St and LSU have locked up positions 4 and 5 but still playing

AU 20 under with a approx. 2 holes to play per player VA at 16 under with same amount of holes to play. Looking good but don't count the chickens just yet........

Yale is currently 49 under oh I mean 49 over so if math is correct we're leading them by 68 strokes.

Update on the turds poor babies finished 6th one stroke behind Baylor.........so their not going to the Nationals

I had a few errands to do come back and Auburn is on fire atm. We are 18 under for the day!!!!! That's thru 12 holes meaning one player or two on the team has a birdie on every hole. Virginia is 10 under for the day. Currently Auburn is leading at 19 under and Virginia 16 under Texas Tech is third at 3 under. Sidenote our #1 player is not having his best round which just shows how deep we are.

Yes 12th Yes but teams can get hot or just suited for a certain type golf course I agree Yes but knowing them they will play as if they are in 6th place trying to make up ground Damn straight

We've gotten off to a good start but so has Virginia currently Virginia is 10 under Auburn 8 under thru about 4 holes. Both teams have started separating themselves from the field. auburn is 10 strokes ahead of 3rd place Texas Tech.

Not much to go on but HF is somewhat better but hitting a driver compared to a wedge swing easier for HF to take a full swing

Not for regionals you may catch some highlights on golf channel. Maybe the SEC channel will have a small segment on Wed night for the SEC teams that make the National.

Well had a few rough holes toward the end. Currently sit at 1 under with Virginia at 6 under. Virginia is playing extremely well for their ranking which is 12th nationally. Final round tomorrow lets see what happens and how Virginia holds onto that 5 shot lead. Golfs a funny sport things can flip on a dime in team scoring

AUBURN, Ala. – No. 7 Auburn has advanced to the 2024 NCAA Championship after winning the Auburn Regional by four strokes on Wednesday. The Tigers fired a final round 297 (+9) for a 54-hole score of 874 (+10) to claim the victory. Additionally, freshman Anna Davis earned her first individual victory at the event after posting a three-round total of 211 (-5). "All week overall I think we played a lot of really good golf," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the win. "I know they really wanted to win last year. We missed, and that was very painful. We didn't talk about it, but I know it was in the back of some of their heads today. It's golf and anything can happen." After a difficult front nine, the Tigers finished with a stronger back nine on Wednesday to earn their spot in the NCAA Championship for the 22nd time in program history and the fifth time under Luellen. "When we got off to such a rough start, my stomach was in knots and I know theirs were too," continued Luellen. "You could tell that everybody was struggling and just feel that energy. But all of the mental work that we do with Bill Nelson, that's when it starts to come together: when you struggle and how you respond to it." Davis recorded five birdies in her final round, including back-to-back birdies on No. 12 and No. 13 at Auburn University Club. The freshman knocked an approach from around 140 yards on No. 12 close for a birdie, then got up-and-down on the following hole for another birdie. She then made a putt of around 30 feet on the 17th hole, a par 3, to finish at 3-under for the day. "I think I was just very comfortable being at home and we've played this golf course so many times the past few weeks, so it all just felt very comfortable and consistent. Today I feel like I just gave myself a lot of chances on the last eight holes to make birdies." Megan Schofill finished just behind Davis in a tie for second place individually at 2-under (214). Schofill bounced back after shooting 4-over on the front nine with a bogey-free 32 (-4) on the back nine to finish the round at even par (72). Schofill tied the best par-5 scoring mark in the field at 6-under over all three rounds and recorded her third top-5 individual finish of the season. Redshirt sophomore Casey Weidenfeld carded a 77 (+5) on Wednesday and finished the event inside the top-20 for the sixth time this season. Her 54-hole total of 222 (+6) placed her in a tie for 16th on the individual leaderboard. The redshirt sophomore was just three birdies shy of the most birdies in the field during the tournament with 10. Senior Anna Foster provided the final counting score in the Tigers' winning effort on Wednesday, shooting a 79 (+7) which led to a three-round total of 227 (+11) and a tie for 25th place finish. The team victory marks the second of the season for Auburn after claiming the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in March. The other teams that advanced to the NCAA Championship from the Auburn Regional include No. 14 Oregon, No. 29 North Carolina, No. 2 South Carolina and No. 47 Tulsa. Minnesota's Isabella McCauley also advanced to the championship as an individual. Auburn will participate in the NCAA Championship May 17-22 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, California. Yes........ended up winning by 4 strokes Megan and Anna saved our ass. Let me just let everyone know about Anna Davis winning the individual at 5 under Anna is suppose to be playing high school golf this spring was an early enrollee and within a few weeks of enrolling she playing college golf. She's special also her twin brother will be here next fall to play on the men's team. Very disappointing in total team play today shooting a 9 over today was a shock. We've settled somewhat now have a one stroke lead over Oregon. That front nine has already caused Oregon some problems
