I assume this is a classic case of the Auburn coaches finding a diamond in the rough before the rest of the world?
I suspect he will jump up the boards quickly and hit 4 stars with multiple services. Probably one of those deals where a coach of ours saw him and knew he was an immediate take.
This staff seems to have established a trend of our recruits' evaluations improving as NSD approaches.
Looks like uat offered two weeks ago. Per KN on 247.

Who?
Auburn nabs a defensive end from the Sunshine State as Daquan Newkirk commits to the Tigers. This^^ Not sure if this a good sign or not. Could be taking Williams spot?

I think you are trying to look for an answer you feel may be some what calid in your mind. It's much more likely Boom sees Irvin and Gibson as better fits or athletes to play safety. There must be question about him putting on weight I imagine
Gibson is an elite athlete. Nick Marshall elite but taller.
And I love me some Nick Marshall.

I think Boom sees him as a safety prospect from everything I've seen. If true and looking at the visitor schedule and who they want to visit there is likely 2 on Boom's board who he feels is a better fit. Namely Torence Gibson from WDE's posts (visiting this weekend) and Tim Irvin who the staff is feverishly working on to try to get him to visit this weekend. If they get him to visit the chances are very good we flip Irvin from Texas as a safety/nickel recruit.I would assume he fit but did something change?
This. Irving would get Westry spot. FWIW.

Well if that's the case and he can't play corner move him to safety like I said, and that's if he can't play corner.
I say let Boom and Westry work this out next week.
Boom and T-Rob are more worried about the DL this week and are focusing on that right now.

Guys, WM has pretty much started from scratch on the D recruiting. Going to be some changes so get ready. And E is right on the UF offer. Don't know if WM wants Westry or not and that this will be worked out next week.

Sammie Coates had a similar route to his offer. If you really trust the coaches then you should be excited about him because he has the physical tools that you can't teach and I think he'll be coached well. If I'm not mistaken Smith coached Banks and he was like a 2 star qb coming out
Excellent points.
Also, Will Muschamp knows a thing or two about the secondary. So if only one other big program's offered this kid at this point, UF's not a bad one.
Yep. Muschamp is one of my favorite coaches to coach at AU. He is a trip to talk too. Knows how to coach and play D. Mean as hell is high school.

While I know that he could very well a huge asset to the team in a couple years, is he really that good, or are we making ourselves believe he is that good?
Guess you might want to check with Gus on that question....don't think anybody on here can give you a knowledgeable answer.
He earned an offer at camp, and we accepted his commit. That says something to me. I'm psyched about Auburn football and have no reason to need to make myself feel better. I think we're in excellent shape.
War Eagle!
I was told Westry was elite at both the Florida and AU camps. Boom offered Westry on the spot, same for AU. Elite talent that can't be coached. Was being pushed hard by Boom to commit to UF. Westry's coached called RG and that set the AU camp visit. FWIW.

Bruce Pearl didn't commit murder. He just had recruits over for dinner and didn't say anything to the NCAA. It's really not that big of a deal. We are in an extremely fortunate situation where it is possible that Coach Pearl will come to Auburn. He is a championship caliber coach and his record proves that.
The big deal is he lied and tried to get the recruits parents to lie also. That's all. Not that big of a deal but he did lie to the NCAA and took his punishment like a man.

As I've stated before, I don't want Pearl to be hired by Auburn. If we do hire him I'll still support our basketball team but I don't think we need to be taking out others' garbage or providing a halfway house for NCAA violators. Petrino, Pearl, both were put up as our "only hope" to have a winning team. It's simply not true. Auburn can and will have a winning BB program with or without hiring a coach with lying to his previous employer baggage.
Like I said before, if Didion is giving a green light on the hire, that tells me all I need to know. Lock him down.
Yep. Mikey is not going to be happy with this hire. Pretty much done.
