I love me some Derrick Brown, and that love will roll over to his little brother. But no matter how much I care about either of them. Little Brown has NO BUSINESS with that number on. They better not have told him he can use 34.

You da man, Jeff. Thanks for the thread since E is trying to become immortal or whatever and is abandoning us to the mercies of the crootin world.

    :)

To be fair, E has said that for a few years, but he is still hanging around... Thankfully.

    That doesn't sound goof.

Sure doesn't. Doesn't sound good either.

We can't pay him in VooDoo Wings like JGT can.

Never heard of voodoo wings. But in Oregon, there was a place called voodoo donuts. The best donuts I've ever eaten. I think they have come east now also. Pretty sure there is one in Orlando and Austin Texas now. Pretty soon they will most likely be everywhere. They are that good.

  4. Man DJ looks legit. And having a RB who knows how to pass the ball will allow Gus a trick play or two most likely. Plus he will be a great wildcat QB, assuming Nix starts over Gatewood. If Gatewood wins the job, he will most likely be the wildcat QB, but if Nix wins the job, DJ could do well as the wildcat back

We are on the verge of getting both of our top two RB targets for this class for what it’s worth. But I get the overall sentiment.

We were Cain or bust for a very large portion of this cycle. Granted after we missed on Ross last cycle and Booth this cycle, both to Clemson, I kinda separated myself from the recruiting side. I figured that it wasn't worth what it was doing to me physically so I just stopped following recruiting for 99% of the time post Booth committing to Clemson. But prior to me stopping following this side, I vividly remember it being Cain or bust. So MAR and who Griffin? They may be top on the board now, but they haven't been top of the board this entire cycle. MAR was being talked about at the time as a backup or 1A to Cain but Griffin hadn't been that high on the board.

Sorry not trying to argue E, but saying we are on the verge of getting the top 2 backs on our board is pretty misleading. They are the top 2 of what remains of the board. I remember Gus putting all his eggs in the Cain basket for a good portion of this cycle. And if we didn't even have the likes of Trey Sanders, John Emry, or Kenny McIntosh on our board, whoever made the board needs their head examined. But I do remember us going after McIntosh. So I'm not sure how the guys we are on the verge of getting are the top of our board, unless of course you meant the top of the remaining board.

That's not taking away anything from MAR or the other one. I'm not even sure if the other one you are talking about is Griffin. But if it is, he has over a 90% prediction on 247 to Georgia Tech. I know that doesn't mean a lot, but it doesn't exactly look promising...

  6. Hopefully next cycle we will be able to hit on at least one of our top targets on both the OL and RB... Seems like we have said that for what going on like 5 years now? Sure we have gotten bodies but we have absolutely missed 90% of our top targets in OL and RB for the last half decade at least...

It always kills me on here, how we know what is best for Gus in hiring his assistants. So let's just throw out the coach at Memphis and maybe Gus will read our posts, and give him a call. 🙃 (i'm kidding a little here)

It always gets me when people complain about the things people talk about on here. I mean it IS a forum. It's kept alive by the people who comment which brings them back to the site and drives up advertisement money.

I doubt he will look back at his time at AU as a good time in his life....which is too bad.

I don't. JJ6 still went to Auburn. He still had the college life at a big time program in the SEC. Football got him the college experience. It opened the door for everything he experienced in college. There is no doubt that the experience in Auburn would be a better experience than at Jax State. Football just wasn't in the cards for him. JJ6 is one of those who max out in high school.

Look what he has(not) done with football after college...

He of course went undrafted, and got an invite to the Giants. Didn't make it, signed as a practice squad member with a team in the CFL, then signed with an arena team based in Columbus, GA, and was cut from their team as well.

Although JJ6 has gone on record saying he wouldn't change his Auburn experience "Everything I've been through has made me a better man," Johnson said. "It really has changed my life. I'm a family man now. I've got a baby girl. Things are different, but I wouldn't trade them for anything." Link

Bo Nix may turn out to be JJ62.0 or he could leave Auburn holding every single record possible for a QB. He will need to work hard from day 1. Nothing will be given to him. I just wonder what happens when we redshirt Bo and Gatewood takes over next season and balls out? Will Bo stick around possibly 2 or 3 seasons for 1 or 2 years of playing? If Gatewood starts next season, Bo would most likely have to be the next coming of Pat Sullivan to beat out Gatewood assuming Gatewood dominates in 2019. What then? Will Bo's clear love of Auburn allow him to sit the bench behind Gatewood for a few years? Or would Bo transfer?

  8. Anyone else watch his new HUDL video?

Yes he makes some great throws, but did anyone else notice you could almost always tell where he was going to throw because he would rarely look off his receivers?

Bo may be the next best thing since sliced bread, but he isnt going to be throwing to wide open WRs and is going to have to look his receivers off in the SEC.

There are some passes in that video where he throws into incredibly small windows. He has the talent, but from that new video alone it looks like he has some work to do...

  9. I know the thought that stars don't matter is a popular thought around this site. But in reality stars do matter.

When you consider how many 3* or less recruits are in each class, and you look at the recruiting rankings of the players in this years super bowl, it tells another story.

    As good as Jay Prosch?

    Absolutely not. Not even close.

I know someone is just gonna call me negative, but they aren't even on the same page. Have you watched either play? As someone else said, Wilson needs to greatly improve his blocking to be even adequate. Prosch was/is an NFL FB. Wilson needs to eat his Wheaties to even be in the same breath as Prosch.

Just look up the season he just had and people will like him a lot! Am I right  Zeek? You did a great comparison there too in comparing him to RD I think.

It is a good comparison. He reminds me of RD. The only difference is JJ is a true WR. RD was a QB in high school. But everything else reminds me of RD

With an 18 month old, it gets a lot of play in the Dub household right now. It was cute early. Now it just wears on you.

    You ain't even kidding.

Been post a lot. Gus likes him as an OT.

Analysts see him as a OG though FWIW.

Sorry E this is the extent of me following recruiting. Ever since we missed on Booth, I've separated myself from that side. Until they sign, no need getting worked up or excited about any of these kids.

I just knew I have seen him listed as an OT from us, but as an OG from other places.

Keiondre Jones is a big time guard and has also been one of our more vocal, all-in type recruits. I'll be keeping an eye on him. Could be a real leader for us in a couple years. That was something that was sorely lacking from our interior this season.

I agree. Reminds me of Jalil Irvin from last class. Especially about the "vocal all-in type."
