  1. His junior year numbers are lower than his sophomore year because he had more help this season. His backup was able to take a lot of his carries to help lighten the load, and the team had a passing game that allowed them to be more balanced.
He also had a serious concussion against Anniston in the third round of the playoffs that cost him the final two games of the season.

Is this an unheard of unanimous good hire by the board? I haven't seen any of the usual suspects selling the gloom and doom on this one. I admit that I don't have a great interest in assistant coaches past the coordinators and have no idea who is good or bad.

My only interest in assistant coaches and position coaches is can they recruit.

Why not?  Energy...good recruiter.  Can lead a bunch of broken players to a win over the updykes on the road?

Good recruiter? Wasn’t he on staff when we didn’t sign a single player in February?

Good points. I just remember him being fired at USC where it is almost impossible to lose.
But he has changed since then.

…again, you made good points that make me feel better about it if it were to happen.

Impossible to lose?? It was impossible to win after the sanctions Pete left them with. Kiffen’s only mistake was taking the job right before the sanctions hit

and why do you pull for them? my dad played on the frosh team in the early fifties and my grandfather taught horseback riding for the rotc. my grand parents lived on east glenn a block from the park and baseball fields. i never had a bad day at auburn as a kid. the same as an adult unless you call losing a game bad. i know some will roll their eyes at this but i would love to hear your stories.

That’s where I graduated from, so I love the school; auburn football is just an added bonus

As I’ve said before,  it’s just a huge red flag to me that he’s never been a head coach at any capacity for as long as he’s been coaching and there has to be a reason. I’m not totally against him, but it just doesn’t really excite the average fan base either…

Kirby Smart was a coordinator for a long time before he became a HC and that worked out okay for Georgia; however, so was Brent Venables and he seems to be a total flop so far.  The point is you never know, so pick the best guy available and see what happens.

If I were interviewing him, I would have him analyze tape of Bama and Georgia's defense and have him explain how we would score against them going forward.  Where is their opportunity to gain yards and hit explosive plays against them? Where can they be exploited? You get them at home next year with a new coach + new attitude. Crazier things have happened before.

It's not 2015 anymore. You can score on Alabama. They are slowly but surely sliding down from their peak.

I'm very hyped for JG. I really hope we hire him.

You really think Pres Roberts is gonna have a clue if he’s right or not?

NIL finally kicking in now that Coach Harsin, er, "bought into" the concept (a year late). Bad news for the tar & feather Harsin crowd if he wins 2 of the next 3 games and our (as reported) unusually stocked NIL starts a steady stream of blue chip recruits.

If blue chips start coming because of the NIL, then they won’t care who the head coach is

Why would anybody take option 1? Everybody’s taking option 2, you’re not going to fire me early and reduce my pay. Give me the full amount of money I’m owed. I’ll be okay

But isn’t that what everybody thought Gus was gonna do?

Just let Will Friend go right now

The best OL coach in the country couldn’t make this line much better. They’re physically not capable of playing at an SEC level.
I’m not saying he’s a good coach, but he shouldn’t shoulder all the blame.

I graduated from Auburn and am proud of my degree. I have been a die-hard Auburn supporter (and donor) for almost 40 years.

Never have I felt this emotionally devastated by my Tigers. I love the players. I know they do not want to lose. But the fierce fight is just not there, and the coaching leadership is just not there.

I wanted to support the Harsin hire. But he lost my support early on with his nasty attitude shiiiite, and then I was not surprised when players began abandoning him.

I've got nothing left in the tank emotionally. I can't bear to watch any more of this. I am so miserable about this; I weep for our players and our Auburn family.

I look forward to the day when I can once again enjoy watching our Tigers on the field.

In the meanwhile, I'm joyously watching Auburn basketball, baseball, gymnastics, equestrian, etc. WDE!

Step away from the ledge; win or lose it’s just a game. Unless you have a kid on the team, no one should be that emotionally invested in the outcome.

I’ve been an Auburn fan for what seems thousands of years (Auburn years are way longer than dog years). I went to AU during the Barfield era and graduated just as Dye started. The 80s  some see now as the glory days, but even then there were many grumpy times and embarrassing losses. I’ll never forget the headlines in Atlanta after one disastrous game - “Paper Tigers”. Nonetheless the Dye years had great moments and little drama (the Bear had retired which definitely helped).

But I don’t think that’s normal for us.

The last 30 years have been an adventure - repeating cycles of trending up, maybe an undefeated season, trending down, total collapse , fire the coach, start again.  “That’s so Auburn”. By the time we hired Gus I was familiar with the script and almost expected what ended up happening. Another cycle. Like Cicadas.

I honestly think we’ll go big with the next coach and nail it  - yes, I hope it’s Prime. And the joy ride and drama cycle will begin again (maybe he leaves for fsu in 7 years). I’m ready.

Very few schools are dynasties, many are perpetually average, some were good in the day but imploded into irrelevance , and some will just always suck.

What’s unique, wonderful, and masochistic about being an auburn fan is that we get to experience all the categories.  Every 10 years or so.

.However, if you emotionally can’t handle wild ridiculous swings and you’re young: 1) switch teams. Auburn will kill you before you’re 50 2) don’t get married

Well said, I’ve been with them since the early 80’s. You just gotta learn to enjoy the good times, and let go of the bad. Keep it all in perspective, and remember that no matter what happens on Saturday We still gotta get up and go to work on Monday.
