  1. I don't like the guy either but some of his points are spot on.  The Neville donation is a typical reach and hatchet job from a typical al.com writer.  The idea of paying coaches less and funneling more through NIL is actually an idea he stole from Rick Neuheisel from his Sirius XM show. Neuheisel has been saying that since NIL was approved.  But the part about the timing of the hiring and how the world has changed so much since is dead nuts on IMO.  Not that I am advocating this, but had Malzahn squeezed out 1 more year of coaching and we were looking for a coach in December of 2021 or January 2022 we are probably looking at a completely different candidate.

  2. Is it just me or were many of us defending Harsin just a couple weeks ago?   I know I was.   Now I am confused.  Now I feel the need to trash his recruiting (or lack of), talk about how much of a jerk he is, how he is a out of his league, etc....   This is very perplexing.

In fairness, DAG hasn't seen the donor side, however, he does have a very legitimate reason for not liking one on the leaders.

Mainly, the donation keeps the site up and running free from advertisements.  The costs of running the forum were forcing the administrators to have to choose between selling the forum or introducing advertisements.  As a bonus/incentive, the donor-side of the forum was introduced.  A lot of people with first-hand connections to the athletics programs (not just football) post solely on that side.  I have not seen many things to turn out incorrect on what is relayed over there.

I will say I am biased, just as DAG may be biased from his experience with one of the MOD's.  If you are considering donating, I wouldn't base it on whether you want access, but whether you feel this forum has brought you enough enjoyment that you would like to contribute to continue to keep it going.  You may not, and that is perfectly fine.  You also may not have the excess funds to do so at the moment and that is also perfectly fine.

The basketball forum brings enjoyment.  The football forum brings pain.   I'll give you $50 for the bball forum.  You give me $100 for the football forum for my pain and suffering.  Deal?

  4. One of the things I liked about CBH was that I thought he would not be so worried about hiring high caliber assistants.  With the hiring of Mason and to a lesser degree Bobo, it appeared he was a pretty secure dude.  That was one of the things that I felt Gus did poorly as far as the hiring of offensive assistants. However, I give Gus credit for leaving the defense alone and our defense was excellent.  CBH just won't leave anything alone.   He's just blowing it all up.  Disappointing.

  5. Definitely Flan's offensive confidence with the ball in his hand.  The shot will come, but he seems to take about 8-10 minutes to get into the flow of the game.  Not used to that with him and hope he is going to be close to 100% by tournament time.  The good thing is that he is driving to the basket some, hitting his free throws, and defending well.   Honestly, that is enough right now for this team but at some point he may be called on to put this team on his back and would love to see him rise to the occasion.

Sure did. Muschamp represented a sea change in how business was done here.

Fortunately we don't need that now. Just need a pitch and a pitch man.

Yes, not suggesting a coordinator change but wondering about the position coach as are most on here.  If we are all thinking Friend is a short timer, then recruits may be thinking the same thing.  Wonder if our competition is pointing that out?  Nah, they probably don't do things like that.

At this point, it's so bad and how anyone could fail so miserably at recruiting the position is beyond comprehension, that you almost wonder if there is some greater plan that we don;t know about.

It has been going on for a while over two coaching staffs.  I think the last time we had a good OL class(from a ratings perspective) signed was the class where we got Brahms and Troxell. These are the 6 year guys we are discussing now.  That's a long time to go without signing needs at a position.  It reminds me of our inability to get highly rated linebackers a decade or so ago.  All of that changed with a change at coordinator and position coach as I recall.

Not anything except the article. But Anders is not the old Anders you knew. Same name but the original was sold to some company several years ago that kept the name. I can tell you what remains of older places on West Magnolia will be gone before too long including the Lambda Chi House and maybe even McDonalds. The land is just very valuable.

Lambda Chi is sitting on a fortune.

  9. Watched it again tonight to take the emotion out of it.  I thought Kessler's 2nd foul was the only one that was really a no brainer bad call.  The other 4 were fouls but a couple of them had very little contact.  Refs were very inconsistent.  Would let them play for a few and then call it real tight for a few.  Overall I credit bama for getting back in the game by hitting some big shots when they had to have them.  Going forward Kessler needs to stay a little more disciplined on the defensive end and hope the refs will let them play and stop getting in the way of a good game.

  10. With NIL (and expanded playoff hopefully) we really can only look to our own creativity/support or lack of to make excuses going forward.   Unless the NCAA comes in and regulates like saban and smart are "begging" them to do (the reason is not for the good of the game but for the good of their programs to keep the playing field unlevel and tilted just towards them), then it comes down to how agile are you as an athletics department at making it happen.

  11. 5* CB Tony Mitchell is a Bama lean from Thompson (a school we don't do well with in AU-AL battles) but he has visited a lot

5* DL Peter Woods also viewed as a Bama lean from Thompson but has visited a lot and insists Auburn is in his top group

Sadly, the Thompson program is untouchable for Auburn.  Used to be a sleepy school that was pretty bad at most sports.   All those shiny new things were bankrolled by well connected bammers with one condition:  all the superstar players we send to you that we used to send to Hoover have to go to bammer.  It's a farm system basically.
