  1. So he's more of a project at the moment? The SEC's brutal and the upper echelon teams recruit to a specific body type that can develop into SEC caliber LB. Well, he'll have a damn good mentor in big brother so good luck to him and WDE!
  2. The 6-feet, 228-pound Brown was one of the most productive players in the metro-Atlanta area as a senior, putting up monster numbers (200-plus tackles) for one of the state's top defenses. Maybe I missed earlier posts in this thread, but why was this guy listed a 2*? And had no FBS offers other than AU? Seems very odd that UGA/Clemson/or Muschamp at USCe didn't even give him the time of day.
  3. Dang Chad Morris is rocking it for the Hogs - this is the best class they've EVER had over there.
  4. I've given up trying to understand this staff's mentality on roster management. It's been poor for years.
  5. Total and complete lack of effort, that's a entire unit that didn't GAS to do their job.
  6. Unfortunately, I saw the same on multiple occasions. Couple that with the clip in RunInReds above post, and it could lead one to believe the coaches have lost the team. There is zero aggression, zero focus or attention to detail, zero energy & enthusiasm, zero willingness to improve, drive or hold each other accountable.
  7. That right there pissed me off to no end! Good for Steele/Davis owning up to the errors, but why the hell didn't Steele make changes during the game? My God, by the 2nd qtr we could see what was happening and it's on Steele & his defensive leaders to recognize the problem and do something/anything to make a change and fix it before the dang QB reels off 200 yrds rushing straight up the middle. Adjust the defense, change coverage's, plug up the middle and put a spy on Fitz he was their only offensive weapon and Moorehead used him over and over and over again because Steele never put up any resistance all night long. All I ask is for the coaches to DO something constructive and a least act like you see what we see and the deficiencies are being addressed, then I'll accept your ownership of the failures in the press conference a whole lot better.
  8. Saban's in a whole different stratosphere. He's an old ball coach with decades of experience, knowledge and he's succeeded and failed. He honestly should no longer be labeled as a "defensive minded coach." He's a seasoned coach, he's laid out a blue print for his team's identity. He tasks his coaches to build it according to his plan, then he allows them to evolve and improve the design based on player personnel and specific situations. He may be more hands on with the defense in practice and preparation, but he "meddle's" all in that offense and uses his veto power over any play call as he sees fit. I've said it for years, it's really not fair to compare anything CNS does with anything CGM does - the difference is night and day.
  9. Yet folks on this board were begging for more media exposure, glowing headlines, and felt AU wasn't getting enough "respect" thrown their way.
  10. This is a sad fact and everyone has seen our WR routes a thousand times, to the point where LSU's D was jumping those routes like a damn jack rabbit.?
  11. Are you serious? What makes you think Auburn is in a position to man handle recruits, or to place demands and ultimatums on a kid months before he signs his LOI? My God, that would be a quickest way possible to watch a kid cut AU from his list and never take another glance.
  12. Absolutely! Pruitt knows how to tell a kid what they want to hear, he knows the parent angle and he knows how to sell a program and the potential of that program because he learned from some of the best in the business. He recruited for Rush Probst at Hoover - Nick Saban on 2 different stints - he worked side by side with Lance Thompson at uat when that staff pulled in some of Saban's first gold classes which started uat on a roll that yet to let up. He had a stint under Jimbo Fisher at FSU......
  13. +1 Fisher will recruit better than Sumlin and Smart will recruit better than Richt..........Pruitt will do better than Jones ~ Mullen "should" do better than McElwain (although not yet), Muschamp will do better than Spurrier, Morris will do better than Bielemia, I have no idea what to think of Moorehead at MSU, Orgeron will be hard pressed to do better than Miles. No one can ignore the ramped up recruiting prowess of these new batch of HCs and the energy they bring to the environment.
  14. Absolutely agree! The only thing I was trying to point out to Mikey's post was that while he stated AU has never consistently out-recruited UAT/UGA/UT/UF (which is true) yet AU has somehow done well against those schools is a little deceiving now in 2018. When I view the current landscape of not only this conference, but the addition of Clemson to the immediate vicinity, I see rough waters for AU which gives me no comfort at all. Auburn can NOT allow these heavy recruiters to diminish their standing in the recruiting wars. These new HC's are brutal savages on the trail - and the days of fat Bert/brick builder Butch Jones/nice guy Richt/shark lover McElwain/lush Sumlin/old man Spurrier are officially OVER! They've been replaced by a much higher caliber recruiting breed of HC's, guys that put a priority on pulling in talent. I also agree that Saban in the last decade has been the main catalyst for change and evolution in college football as we now know it (not just the SEC.) His impact has been felt nationwide and I've personally never in my life time seen one man do that to the entire sport. The challenge for Auburn right now is that they will have to go head to head everyday against several HC's from Saban's coaching tree, guys who cut their teeth under his recruiting process - those guys will be relentless. I want Auburn to match them and challenge everyone of them, strap on the gloves and maintain their position any way they have to....I just hope AU can hold up in a true street fight mentality and not walk away because they are the nice guy, the guys Gus will face today are Dirty.
  15. Another nasty $#!t fly in the ointment is Fisher at aTm.......he's knocking on the door of a top 5 class as I type. Chad Morris is doing better than his behemoth predecessor with positive recruiting, pulling from his Texas connections - and by Arkansas standards he has done great so far. So now AU has UAT/UGA/UT/aTm/Clemp and UF (although Mullen hasn't done much thus far) that may add a little discomfort. IMHO, I think the SEC as a whole upped the ante their HC hiring the last couple of years. With the addition of Smart/Fisher/Pruitt/Muschamp/Morris they purged the former HC's and some strong recruiters were added to the SEC. That fact alone added a needed spark to AU's staff as they've ramped up their recruiting strength - it will damn sure be needed in the coming years.
  16. And knowing that the next man up has been exposed to the system/scheme and has some live in-game PT under his belt. In other words, having experienced/developed backup's.
  17. Thank you! You offered an explanation better that I could put in words. Someone said we need to build depth, and its hard to build experienced depth when attrition hits your roster.
  18. So they aren't giving out Mercedes (like uat) or straight up cash (like uga) to collect all of this talent? [sarcasm] I was responding to a poster in this thread that gave the above as an explanation as to why uat/uga are pulling their talent. Bottom line, folks love to point to out the cheating angle way too much around here. I was simply wondering what the other programs are offering to pull that talent if uat/uga are giving cars/cash?
  19. And pray like hell that the JUCO's stay plentiful with QBs!
  20. Cutting down on freaking attrition will help that depth issue tremendously IMO. And before someone pipes in that our attrition is normal and on par with our conference brethren......When we don't bring in the top talent compared to our main rivals on the front end, then when we lose players to attrition it hurts us even more than them.
  21. I'd love to know what Texas, Penn State, and are paying out because they are kicking ass too.
  22. The excuses and rationalizations are over for AU football & CGM.
  23. Well folks have said for years that football runs in cycles and we are seeing that with the exception of NS & uat, the overall coaching in the SEC is mediocre now and the top level recruiting we all enjoyed will level off with time. (LSU's recruiting is taking a beating lately) Saban & Malzhan are the two winningest coaches in the SEC right now. That's got to gripe the rest of the conference to know that the state of Alabama has ruled them for so long.
