Seriously he has lost games that should not even be close just like Gus could never dominate a game against lesser opponents. They have both been failures in this area.
-
perspective, we had more talent at every position and got the s*** kicked out of us at home by a team that has never had a win against an SEC team

he was a part of the Highland Cult, the end

gotta add in around a decade ago to make it legit!!!

Whoever the coach is, WE GOTTA GET GOOD PLAYERS!
auburnphan replied to Auburn93's topic in AU Football Forum
Coaching is a problem, it will follow him forever. We knew this before we hired him, now we deal with it. -
yep. we hired a coach who cheated to the best of his abilities and still could not be successful. in the SEC West. We already know how to cheat...

McGriff temporarily stepping aside from on field duties

He is seemingly not to be the right culture fit that HuGH is looking for in the leader of his defense, is what people are trying to say. -
McGriff temporarily stepping aside from on field duties

When Hugh was hired, I was told that he may initially have problems hiring a staff and that it will more than likely be guys way down on his list or the list given to him by his agent. His disservice to Houston Nutt has cost him in the coaching fraternity I was told. Guys looking for a rebound or a second or third chance or young guys trying to break in would fill the staff and there would be no big time hires from other schools. How Hugh handles this situation going forward may have significance importance on his future hires. I think he has done a good job so far as the CEO of the football program and with the handling of his baggage that came with his hire. Getting the staff that he needs/wants or getting the current staff to gel is one big obstacle that is needed to be accomplished. -
Somebody got scolded and told to fix it by saying this.

15 of the 22 starters are transfers. Signed as freshman to Auburn breakdown 4 from Malzahn era, which would include all upper classman from juniors on up(Jr, redshirt Jr, senior, red shirt senior, super seniors.. Harsin 2 and Freeze 1 Transfers: Harsin 5 all on defense, Freeze 10, 8 offense and 2 defense.

this fan base has been broken for quite some time, lol.

In all honesty, to some extent you are right. This is a new era, it is about buying players and having a good staff of developers and system adaptors to talent bought, either the AD/Boosters are gonna do it or not. Are we gonna be a small market team or a consistent contender? Do we wanna be a farm team for the schools that wanna win championships?

When you say underdeveloped, what are you exactly implying? players that want to be great have developed and worked at their craft. this is a cultural issue within the program that started under Malzahn, Harsin recognized it but failed to fix it and didn’t know how to handle it. I have been preaching for years that their was a failure to recruit guys who wanted to be great players but instead they recruited guys that were talented but just like to play football, besides offensive line, there was just failure to evaluate and recognize talent, development or evolve scheme. Hugh, Prime, Rhule are all dealing with that challenge at their new destinations. Getting the right staff to do it is key and I am not sure we have that yet, but hopefully they grow as a group and develop as a staff.

The portal was mostly a failure from an impact player standpoint so far. Solid depth but not any game changers, best portal players may be Harsin era guys at this point. We are mid, mid bottom in recruiting this year in conference and the excuse was wait until they see the product on the field. We got a long road to go and while Hugh was not one of my top choices, I still believe he can make us more competitive and have the occasional great season to give us hope. He was the safe hire Auburn always shoots for and not the home run we dream for. He just needs more time. on a side note is Hugh’s health good? He seems to look less and less healthy every week.

Hugh Freeze calls the parents of every single player
auburnphan replied to W.E.D's topic in AU Football Forum
The article states the coaching staff called parents and HuGh called and talked if there were some issues. -
2024 Transfer Portal Thread (Merged Zeek's New Thread)
auburnphan replied to AU80cruiser's topic in AU Recruiting Forum
I got crushed when I said this about Gus, but the same applies to Hugh. He is not a quarterback developer, hell, I think Hugh has said as much himself. What Hugh has always excelled at in my opinion is game planning, play calling and developing his offenses around his quarterbacks strengths and skill set. So I am not expecting to see great development, happy as can be if it happens, but I do expect to see an offense that the QB will be able to succeed in and get better in as he learns the system and increases his read and reaction time to what defenses are doing within the system. -
No matter what position he plays his fumble rate is a real issue

Normally lots of guys get in the game against way under talented opponents, especially when the team takes care of business early.

Only Al.com would run this story about AU/Deion
auburnphan replied to LPTiger's topic in AU Football Forum
Exactly, any program oriented coach that understood the importance of recruiting was gonna do well at Auburn, period. Freeze, Prime, Fickell all would be killing it this year. How and who they got would have varied but the results would have been similar. -
