Tbqh I didn't know your gender, but would have said that exact same thing to man or woman.

Do you think everyone on here is a moron and don’t know basics about college football?  Some of us have been talking ball on these boards for over a decade and know exactly how things work, and by some I mean like most of us.

I know exactly what Smoke Monday is saying and what he means about kids from a rough background.  Harsin has no clue about those kids, and he will never be successful in the SEC because of it.

There hasn't been a "culture change" there has been an implosion. You cannot turn things around in the way this has been done.

This such a ridiculously dumb take, I would Ban myself for two weeks for posting something this dumb.

Sorry, but after going through this, those would potentially be the best we can get. Do you honestly see us getting someone like Aranda?

Prime would be the right get, but I doubt he would come here.  I am not sure who would want to coach at Auburn.  You have an AD who was told his contract will not be renewed because of PTB and you have the PTB.  We are gonna Be a tough sell to get any name at all.  The fan base will be disappointed in the hire and the new coach.   The new President should just release Greene from the contract and hire a new AD and see what the hell happens from there.

I hope "movement and evolution" = positive direction. Why we need to hope our recruiting problems lie with the HC.

There is always blame on the staff, no doubt.  Personally my expectations were on next years class to see more higher rated players, but I don’t know what to expect now with all this controversy.

How many times does someone have to say it?  A school has nothing to do with NIL!   If a school is found out that it is setting up NIL deals, a school can be punished for breaking the rules.

Exactly, that is when you know a rumor is bs.  Part of the initial smear campaign.

Hence the first part of my question--is there anything we can do to change that? If it's mainly that our coach refuses to engage with it, ok. If Metafour is to be believed, that's what's happening and it makes me feel more hopeful about the fixability of our current predicament.

College coaches are prohibited from brokering deals for college athletes.

I could see how this would be a concern for ANY coach right now….especially one like Harsin who was a walk on who worked his way into playing time and had nothing like NIL, etc.  But that’s why he gets paid the big bucks, to balance it and keep players motivated and not focused on short term earnings.

To be fair, he was not paid the big bucks to do this, but it did get added to the job description!!!  Lol

i would hope that the athletic departments are setting up education for student athletes as they figure out what everything behind the NIL stuff unfolds.  There are so many different factors that student athletes are gonna need help understanding and there will need to be staff to help them.

  8. Things get misinterpreted, he felt that the NIL could be a distraction for players and could be a negative affect on academics and reaching their football goals.  They have been proactively working with Auburn NIL

He was more concerned that some quick money short term could do more damage to some players long term success in life.

A lot more kids from poverty and dangerous neighborhoods.

There's also a lot of strings attaching some of those kids to the bad situations they come from, and that's tricky to deal with. How to sever them from being involved with the hard side of where they come from, while being sensitive to the fact that their family and friends are still there, and a kid can't totally cut ties. As I understand it, that is what led to Kobe's dismissal.

Harsin isn't recruiting many kids like that in the pacific northwest. More middle class or rural kids. The state of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho doesn't have anything comparable.

I took a look at Boise States roster.  There are 24 players from Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Utah on the roster, most all of them are walk ons.  There are over 34 Californians and 14 Texans.  There are several guys from Georgia and Florida.  Guys from Baltimore, Flint, Phoenix, etc.  I don't think he spent much time recruiting the Northwest at all.

I just want to see some viable examples of racism. Racism is not the same as not understanding someone cultural background. I wouldn’t call you a bigot if you didn’t understand the idea of non-binary. However, I would hope you would be willing to engage in discussion with it and not be dismissal.

I was told of one comment that was being used to say that he was racist and it was a failure to say the least.  In all actuality the conclusion to think that what he said was racist would only be thought to be by a racist person.  it was more socio-economic.

He is dealing with an extremely different set of players. Not saying he's racist or anything. But he's never coached a team of southern kids before.

What does this mean though?  I am not trying to be an a$$.  What makes them different?  Specifically just in the player/coach relationship

    They don't.

Tough love, accountability, and hard work after years of having little to none will look very different to those that don't want any of that.

Exactly.  The narrative trying to be pushed is that Harsin is racist, but never was until he got to Auburn.  The narrative is Harsin doesn't understand athletes, but never had an issue until he got to Auburn.  Somehow Harsin acquired all these negative traits in the last year, amazing.

If this thing continues to have legs for the next couple of days, I start to wonder how Harsin stays even if the rumors aren't true.  Just knowing people would go to such lengths to get rid of you wouldn't make me want to stay.

Obviously if anything worthy of a "for cause" firing is true, you have to do it.

Either way, it's a PR black eye for Auburn.  Leave it to us to find a way to steer the news away from our #1 ranked basketball team with some sort of coaching drama in football.

This is my thought as well., there is nothing good that can really come out of this.  Well, one

thing, but that won’t happen because money walks and talks first and foremost.

Lived in 3 large metro areas, none in AL. The only people I've came across that care for Cam are Auburn and Carolina fans.

I love Cam, but I don't buy that he'd bring great publicity outside of our circles.

    Gotta agree.

Phan did he elaborate any more, like timeline etc?

Not really, just said he wanted to make sure it is the right guy for the job.  Addressed Mason Leaving too, sounds like the rumors of him lying to players and coaches is true.  Addressed Davis as well, sounds like Davis is dealing with some personal issues.  Said something to the affect of him getting better is most important right now.
