I was doing some surfing today and saw a highlight reel of the 2018-19 squad. That team really was something else. They weren’t always the best team on the floor, but they played for each other. I think the thing that sums of that season the most, to me, is Anfernee McLemore stepping to the free throw line with 12 seconds left in the Virginia game for 2 FT to put us up by 4. The junior who had just come off one of the most horrific injuries in college basketball didn’t look nervous; he didn’t look anxious; he didn’t look scared. He calmly looked at the basket, then his teammates, then down at his shoes, all while mouthing the words “For Chuma.” The son of a gun hit both free throws to put us up by two scores. I know the game didn’t go our way after that, but that moment was really special. That team is an SEC Champion, a Midwest Regional Champion, and they’re a dern National Champion in my book. Double dribble, inconsistent foul call, then inconsistent no foul call. Screw the stripes. Long live Jared Harper.

Doesn't seem to me like underperforming at one 2-3 day competition with no pads, no rush, and no secondary should warrant a 100 spot drop.

Not sure how they justify being unbiased. It happens every single time.

Agreed. I do think Garnett will challenge though, as I don't think he was brought in just to be a backup. He's very athletic and has a cannon of an arm. We've got some very good options moving forward.

Just posted his "top three" on Instagram. Don't think it's any reason to worry, though, as I think he's just trolling to drum up some drama. CBs still pouring in for AU. One guy on 247 says he talks with DD every day and says he's AU bound easily.

I know it’s odd, but when I checked this morning, his composite ranking was 151. Not sure what happened, but he had dropped this morning.

Cardwel dropped from 150 to 151 today. I don’t get rankings man. Nothing changed since he was 150 yesterday. What is this based off of???

Yesterday, the class calculator on 247 said that Auburn picking up Cardwell would mean AU moves to #7. All the sudden today, we will only move up to #8, and NOT overtake Arizona for the #7 spot by 0.02 points. Did something change? I know the rankings changed a few days ago, but this was checked AFTER that. Before hand, we actually would’ve moved up to 6th.

Sanogo just committed to UCONN. In my opinion, I believe it is time to offer a scholarship to Dylan Cardwell, that is, unless Bruce believes he has an ace up his sleeve with Maker or a grad transfer.

Also looking at Minnesota transfer Payton Willis. IMO, Kier would be the best option. Slasher/shooter that is 6'4 and has really nice driving ability. Would be a good way to at least fill in some of Samir's shoes. Highlights:

I think you bring in Cardwell, get a sense on what Kuminga is going to do, and then if you think you've got a shot, go after him hard. If you don't get him, you hope that this one-time transfer rule works out, and you have a brand new list of guys come June. Cardwell could be another Wiley type in a couple years, but with a better shot and a higher motor. I think it's a good idea to bring him in and develop him. Cooper, Stretch, Devan, and Cardwell are all AOT guys that have chemistry, and have played against the best. We do need one more scorer. I think its possible Flanagan could be that guy, but he's going to have to improve a LOT this off season. Cambridge is another possibility, but will have to show he can score off the dribble. Finally, Turbo is the question mark. If he turns out to be really solid next season, I don't think a primary scorer is necessarily the route you have to take to finish this class, and you can just look at best available. Problem is, one of these guys have to pan out next season and take a big step, or we won't have that scoring 2 guard like we've had in the past that can create. Need guys who can take it to the hole off the bounce and finish at the rim other than just a point guard. I think Williams can do that, and maybe he can slide to the 3 some if we bring in some of these big guys. Coop can make up for some of it with his ability to find the open man for assisted baskets. I think he's got Harper-level abilities with that already, and might even be better. It's the "get a bucket when you need one" that I would be concerned about. Lots of potential on the team, but not a lot of proof yet. Would also be nice if Johnson would get better but I'm not sure he's more than a 3 and D guy. Overall, seems to me like we are one piece away from being a national contender next season. Let's hope it pans out.
