Especially when every player has to start filing a 1099 as an independent contractor. That's no fun.
A former neighbor of mine was a pitcher for the Royals years back and I seem to remember his wife mentioning that if a paid athlete plays in any road games where state income tax is levied, then the athlete must also file a tax return in that state. I'm not an accountant so I'm not familiar with current tax laws, but if this is still the case, it could get messy if a filing is missed.

I soured on the whole concept of silent commits when Tater Tot sold us a fake bill of goods. I’m still not a fan, but at the same time realize they still may serve a purpose on a case by case basis so I trust the coaches to know what’s best.

Grimes phase one was an awesome on-field and recruiting O line coach. Ironically Gus's extended loyalty to Grimes phase two (post radition cancer treatments) started the O line slide.
My take was that Bird is referring to Coach Jeff Grimes, but I could be mistaken.

Screw all that go to Monterey and play Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill golf courses. Once in a life time bucket list for golfers lucky for me its checked off. I will say the Golden Gate Bridge is unbelievable
My former father-n-law lived in Tuscaloosa and was scheduled to play at Augusta National about 12 years ago. Wouldn't you know that a snow storm hit and dumped about 12 inches on them and he couldn't even make it out of the driveway, so he never made it there. He was a scratch golfer and had about 8 holes in one when he died.

Using composite team rankings we have already out recruited the Harsin2021 & 2022 classes in terms of total points and are 1 commit away from passing the 2023 class as well, with 6 less commits, in total points We are wanting to take 11-15 more high schoolers if we can find & land talent we feel is SEC caliber. In short, barring something crazy happening this class will obliterate the 2021, 22, & 23 classes in total recruiting points
Yet another reason to question why Harsin wasn't fired for cause!

This guy appears to be a heckuva consolation prize since we missed on Bolden. And I mean this as the highest complement!
I doubt any coach ever gets every player they pursue.

No matter the choice. Be positive and supportive to KJ. It won't be over for his signature and we've seen first hand with Perry and Riddick how the reactions of fans can galvanize a recruit's decision.
If most of us knew we would be where we’re at now 6 months ago, we’d have have taken it in a heartbeat. As long as we hang on to our Courtney commits and finish strong we’ll be fine. We knew this rebuild would be a project and Rome wasn’t built in a day!

It's in the title for this thread. My guess is they changed it to accommodate local reporting.

3* OL Ole Miss commit
Hugh must be going for the trifecta! Flip a commit from Kirby, Saban, and Kiffin.

So hard to name just one player. Terry Beasley and Kevin Green.

It's a tough break but it's hard to blame any kid for wanting to go to Stanford.

1989 Iron Bowl
1994 LSU Game
2009 West Virginia (Rain Game) The weather was terrible but the fans stayed and the team never quit after being down 14-0 early. It rained so hard that I had to empty the lap of my poncho every 30 seconds.

I have no idea what the code of conduct at AU... or any university is these days. But I think if they kicked out 18-25 year olds for recording sex on their phone, a lot of these schools would have to make an entirely new department to handle all the cases.
The student code of conduct at Auburn isn't worth the paper it's written on! It's enforced or ignored on a case-by-case basis, depending on political implications. I know this for a fact because my daughter was a victim in an on-campus incident that occurred about 6 years ago that involved a former cheer leader. We presented a plethora of evidence in a student conduct hearing (including a number of direct violations, a written statement from the Director of Campus Security confirming the violations, and voice and recording of the perp admitting guilt), initially received a favorable verdict, only to have it overturned on appeal. I then spoke with some local attorneys in Opelika and they told me that the office of Student Affairs was a complete joke and their hearings were nothing more than a Kangaroo Court. In my opinion they didn't have the stomach for the details so they just decided to go through the motions.

Here's a little good news to hang your hat on today fwiw. Jay G Tate said on his podcast that he predicts a for sure top 10 class and it will probably be a top 5. That's a massively impressive class. I hope Jay G is right. I would get Hugh Freeze's face tattoo'd on my butt cheeks if he could pull a top 3 class in the next 3 years.
I can’t even begin to imagine what you would do when Hugh brings home a Natty…

Yes. I can’t believe we paid the last guy a buyout. Should have been terminated with cause.
I’ve had the same question. My guess is that Harsin would have likely filed a lawsuit and that AU Admin and legal council just paid him to go away. Insurance companies do it all the time when it’s cheaper to settle than litigate. Also, bammur media would have portrayed in as negatively as possible.

While that's true it's not any sort of hard and fast rule. When Tech dropped the series after 1987, 84 games had been played between the two. That's more than just a casual matchup every now and then.
After five Auburn "home" games in Birmingham, haughty Tech finally came to Auburn for the 1970 game. AU whipped that 9-3 Tech team 31-7. It was a big deal, with Bob Hope in the audience.
There are pictures of Coach Jordan coaching at Grant Field wearing a crash helmet borrowed from an Alabama State Trooper because the Tech students were throwing whiskey bottles at the AU sideline. The path from one of the nearby parking lots to Grant Field led through a section of Tech dorms. If you were walking with your girl the Tech boys would expose themselves through open windows and yell the worst sort of obscenities. They are despicable.
Auburn currently leads the series 42-41-3. I'd like to whup 'em 20 or 30 more times.
That 1970 game against Ga. Tech was my first AU game as a kid. I remember Sullivan and Beasley lighting up GT and Eddie McShan, and then at the end of the game walking across the field and under the stadium to the gate outside the players locker room where we waited to greet the players and coaches. I met Sullivan, Beasley, Shug and got my game program autographed by each of them and many others. I knew that very day that I would end up attending college at Auburn. I'd give anything to re-live those few hours!
