  1. My daughter is playing at Southern Indiana in the OVC, and they are allowed 8 hours a week for 8 weeks (4 hours/week strength training and 4 hours/week with coaches) in the summer. When school starts in two weeks, weight training 3 days a week, 4 1-hour practices a week until October, where I believe they will go to 2 hour practices every day. She’s allowed to have skill training with individual coaches, as much as she wants. I believe the men are on a very similar schedule.
  2. Found this website providing a pretty thorough list of who is in the portal for all schools. https://heatcheckcbb.com/womens-basketball-transfer-portal-comprehensive-transfer-list-for-2023-24/#sec
  3. Auburn picks up Clemson Sophomore Kionna Gaines. Appeared in all 35 games, making one start Averaged 2.4 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per game
  4. Trick is going to be finding the mid-major ladies who are looking to move up. We won't be able to outbid the power 5 transfers. Days of taking a freshman and building her up into a solid starter by her senior year appear to be long gone.
  5. It's not complete, as I've heard there are over 600 D1 Women in the portal, and this site only shows less than 300... https://wbbblog.com/womens-basketball-transfers-d-i-2022-23/ And I'll chime in on recruiting Nike vs UA vs Adidas. The Nike Girls EYBL is, I think, more competitive and has better players on whole than both the Adidas Gauntlet or the Under Armour league, but when my daughter played for a Under Armour team, and at their end of season tournament, I saw plenty of power 5 coaches. Will also add that when my daughter attended an Auburn Elite Camp prior to her freshman year, the Auburn Coaches had 10 girls from a Nike EYBL Team based in Alabama there, and those girls were the only campers (of about 50) the AU Coaching staff paid any attention to. But it looked like it was more personal connection between the AAU director and the Auburn staff. She ended up playing for a Nike BlueStar team her last 2 seasons, and signed with an Adidas team (although they are switching to Nike in June). I don't think which team she played for had any bearing on who recruited her (she was recruited by Nike, UA, and Adidas schools). The biggest girls tournament in the country, Run 4 Roses, has teams from all shoe brands.
  6. I'm not that impressed with what I've seen first hand from the assistant coaches on recruiting trips. Summer 2021, I saw first hand assistant coaches at tournaments, and instead of actually watching high school girls play, seemed to be more interested in facetiming their significant other. Maybe they had silent commits, and they were there just to watch them play, so who knows. One of the girls that Mizzou signed played on my daughter's AAU team, and we are going to regret not even giving her a look.
  7. I went to Auburn, my wife went to Auburn, my dad went to Auburn, my great uncle went to Auburn. My wife's sister went to Auburn, her husband went to Auburn, and my two nieces are currently at Auburn. My best friends went to Auburn, my cousins went to Auburn. Football is just a bonus.
  8. Yikes! It’s my memory that isn’t so good! I was at both 93 and 94, and guess I got them mixed up.
  9. Same. I can still picture Jackson running it back. But I think the interception was on Dean, who was one of the leaders for the Heisman, if I recall correctly.... He got benched, Wuerffel took over and never looked back.
  10. If Dell hadn't gone to Auburn, but instead went to Troy or Bama, would you still feel this way?
  11. And the 2006 team went all 4 years without losing a meet, going undefeated in their college career.
  12. We head to Louisville tomorrow to play in Run 4 Roses. In 2019, three Auburn coaches attended. Something like 700 college coaches out scouting, games played on 68 courts, and over 900 teams are scheduled to attend.
  13. I've heard that Auburn is pursuing top50-75 caliber girls, and is quickly learning that top50-75 caliber girls aren't interested in places like Auburn right now.
  14. Former Auburn Assistant Clarisse Garcia hired as Head Coach at Charleston Southern.
  15. We will see who she hires. I'd expect a lot of movement on the head coaching open jobs that remain and assistant jobs that are open this week, Women's basketball has a recruiting shutdown from today until 5/10.
  16. Hearing that it's going to be official tomorrow. Huge hire for the corndogs.
  17. So apparently Nikki Fargas has resigned from LSU: https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_e9524f3e-7c40-11eb-b43c-a765c48450cd.html Glad she waited until we hired our coach before resigning. Also hearing that Samantha Williams is in line for the open UT assistant coach position. She's someone I hope Auburn at least interviewed.
  18. So of the five Power 5 jobs that opened, three were filled by head coaches from mid major programs (Wisconsin/Mosely, Washington/Langley, and Oklahoma/Baranczyk) and the other two were filled by long time assistant coaches from what I'd call elite type teams (Auburn/Harris and Vanderbilt/Ralph). Of all the non-Auburn hires, I know the most about Baranczyk, who was head coach at Drake before taking the OU job. Good hire for Vandy, too, I think. Shea Ralph had been at UCONN for 13 years as an assistant. Will be interesting to see how they all pan out. And what dominoes fall now that all the power 5 jobs are filled - still 22 mid-major head coaching jobs to fill, and how all this will shake out in the form of Auburn assistants.
  19. I’ll add that my favorite assistant under Coach Flo was Coach Walters, who left Auburn 2 years ago to go to Bama and is now at UNC.
  20. I like her. Like you said, excellent recruiter. I know the interactions she’s had with my daughter have been positive. Both elite camps my daughter attended, Coach Garcia really went out of her way to say hi to my daughter. My daughter had begun sending/texting her game film around December, but I think coach Garcia knew the writing was on the wall, honestly. I can also see the value in a clean slate. I just know with the transfers we had last year, we need a really good recruiter (really three really good recruiters). I didn’t realize the sheer volume of turnover/movement in the assistant coaching world until my family started having interactions with them. Coaches we’ve spoken to have moved schools, one staff the head coach retired and the recruiting coach then took a high school job. It’s crazy.
  21. What are your thoughts about holding onto Coach Garcia?

  23. Will really be interesting to see how the portal and the extra year impacts recruiting for the classes of 2022 and 2023. It's already significantly impacted 2021. Only player I've seen leaving is Patton, you know of any others?
