the Union army burned some southern cities 160 years ago and there's plenty of Southerners around today who are still sour about it, and try to keep the 'culture' of a country that existed for 4 years relevant and celebrated to this day.

Good luck teaching the Palestinians that the people who destroyed their entire country and killed their family and friends are REALLY actually the good guys in the world and that they shouldn't be so hateful.

    like I said...good luck.

If whatever is done results in the worst part of Palestine just.... being sour and saying something akin to 'the south will rise again' I think everyone would count that as a huge victory.

160 years, like you said, how many other mass secession attempts have we seen?

There should be some kind of rule for telling someone they’re wrong without spelling out why.

It's admittedly a bit much to unpack all at once.

I get the feeling you want so badly to blame the 2nd amendment that giving this dude a pass is OK with you.

We, as a society, have put them in an absolutely awful situation over the phrase “the right to keep and bear arms”

But feel free to Monday Morning QB that. I just can’t.  ~Dub

Not that awful honestly, the vast majority do ok with it. But childish with the ending.

It’s patently lazy to be going “hurr durr bill of rahts second amendment should have waited a second or two to gauge intent blah blah blah blah blah” when you see your death in palm of someone’s hand should they will it at the drop of a hat and EXPECT a human, errors in judgement, faults and all that all humans have, to put his life on the line and get it right 100% if the time. Cops are human beings. Weigh that carefully. ~Dub

More silliness. more childlike tones in reply.

Neither of which kills with a flick of the wrist and the pull of a trigger. You’re comparing apples and airplanes. Not all rights can be inherently equivocated. It’s  fallacy to try and do so. Well meaning people are dying or killing through no inherent fault of their own because there’s no squaring that circle. I would argue it’s an inherent result. No normal person wants to pick between dying or killing someone under the kind of pressure the police (law ENFORCEMENT, mind you) has to weigh with mere seconds, usually less, to decide. ~Dub

Avoiding the point made previously and then trying to establish a different point... which is very weak and setting a false premise. At least for a lot of people.

The only time in the thread I can say you were spot on is when you said the cop will get no jail time. I 100% believe that. If cops bust in our house right now and kill us in our beds it would be the same. Playing out this narrative to where a normal response to seeing another human with a weapon is "must kill now" is silly.

99% of people don't do that. If a civilian or hell, even a veteran was to do this and claim "I saw another human with gun, so I started blastin'" They would have 0 chance in a court. It's a bad look that we say cops are given some modicum of training for this situation, and therefore are almost always justified when going straight to deadly force.

I hope that's a bit more of a response to your liking. It's late, and like you I got gangs of kids that tire me out

Thing is, yeah, I very much sympathize with the cop here. The ACAB crowd was always going to have a field day with this one, but people just don’t ******* get that the cops here are in a s*** situation too. We, as a society, have put them in an absolutely awful situation over the phrase “the right to keep and bear arms” that was written when rifling was a novelty and semi automatic fire was a a pipe dream being applied in a day and age when said arms are instant death if you choose option B rather than option A.

The deputy made a bad decision that was clearly in error after the fact. ****, he literally killed a person. I can’t imagine what he’s dealing with right now. Personally, that would wreck my psyche for the rest of my days.

But feel free to Monday Morning QB that. I just can’t.

Only grabbed three, but man Dub... you got some wild takes in this thread.

I'll not be fooled again!  I've let my heart override my head relative to AU football and I've gotten wrapped with pre-season hype for a decade only to be let down by the actual results.  I did lay $100 on the over 6.5 wins, fingers crossed Hugh can get it done.

I put 10$ on them to win SEC. Gonna be the easiest 600$ I've ever made ;)

Thought of putting 10$ on Vandy to win it, the 10k+ it'd bring in would be nice.... but Vandy winning would be crazy right?

Name a dude who left Auburn and was a 1st round pick after.

I don’t think coming out is such a big deal now either, but it is a decision one that is born gay has to make.  There is a lot of acceptance and backing by people that have come before.  I would think the biggest concern to coming out would be the family dynamic.

Being a father of 3 boys, they have tried to please their dad while they were under about 12 years old and then found their own way.  At times they still try not to piss me off when we interact.

Oh for sure, family dynamic plays a large role in how big of a deal it is.

Area probably does too, I have a bad problem with assuming how things are in my city are how they generally are. But it's likely to be very different in rural deep south. Easy for me to forget just how big the US really is and how much societal norms can change after just a 6-9 hour car ride

That's not what I meant. I enjoy your posts on the football forum so we probably shouldn't get into it.

But I don't believe there is a close to significant number of children being coerced into being transgender and going through life altering procedures.

Honestly, this thread is wild to me as a whole. As usual, @aubiefiftyposted something well meaning and harmless. Then you have one guy calling LGBTQ a social contagion that will lead to the demise of civilization, a random insertion about anti-semites, gay panic about half of high school kids being LGBTQ, and someone that thinks gays should stay in the closet until after high school.

Little too much for me. Hence my facetious response to @I_M4_AU

I have no idea on the number of people being coerced into being transgender either, but it was the only thing I could think that M4 meant as far as making choices that could impact your life down the road.

The other part was not about 'gay panic' just updating Webb as he was using a bit more 1990's numbers on LGBTQ population percentage.

I wish it wasn't political. I'd much rather the politicians stay out of bedrooms, stop inciting voters with morality issues (on both sides), and do their damn jobs.

You remain insightful and level-headed. I haven't visited the political side of this forum in a while, mostly because I fail to maintain the latter. But I've read a bit today, and your posts, with which I often fundamentally disagree, are always worthwhile.

This is mostly my view as well

I’ve often wondered if this topic belongs on a political forum. It’s more of a cultural and, for many, personal issue. I recognize there are legal and therefore political consequences, but it’s not Ukraine, the deficit, or even politicians shooting puppies. It’s pretty private stuff.

The never ending consequences of friggin bud light.

The only time I can see it should be political are the times I disagree with something

Seriously though, 90% shouldn't be. However, that remaining lil bit... such as how old a person needs to be before undergoing surgery or taking hormone blockers. Is very much an issue our government should be into.

It is obviously an individual’s choice as to when he/she would choose to live that lifestyle and by lifestyle, so there is no confusion, is when they decide to *come out* to the world as gay, as being gay is not a choice.

    Does that clear it up?

That's not the big deal you think it is these days. The population % isn't fringe anymore so there's not the weird stigma of 'coming out'. Think of how weird it would be for a kid to 'come out' as hetero when you were growing up.

Youngins these days just date who they want when they want, the parents who want to throw a 'coming out' party for their kid are considered cringe (or whatever new word they use this week).

The thought that Bo could have hit these numbers at Auburn if he just had a bit more of the crowd behind him, with a lil better offense and OC is silly. It completely sidesteps the difference of overall talent between the conferences.

For example, this past Auburn team that everyone calls so devoid of talent just had more players go to the NFL than everyone but 2 teams in the PAC-12.

My apologies if I'm completely off base here. But I think he was speaking on trans, not LGB.

It's weird that it's considered part of the same as LGB are sexualities, whereas T is a personal identity.

Also, T is the only one where a child might be coerced into going through life altering procedures.

I agree with everything you have said.  I am not trying to parse words, but the entire issue comes down to your last sentence.  For many, it isn't a choice.  It is just who they are.  I am not speaking of the trans issue or any of that.  I am strictly talking about same sex attraction.  When the only choices come down to living a lie or living alone, the choices aren't very realistic in the long term.

Was listening to this amateur series on gay outrage with lgbtq and it was a bit enlightening.

Always think of it as one group cause all the letters are put together, but man... those gay dudes were pissed about the Ts.

Apparently, lotsa young gay dudes being told they are actually women. And they do not like it.

Also, being gay is def voluntary these days. Didn't use to be. All labels are pretty fluid these days.

Can you name a major society that has crumbled because of the behavior of a tiny minority of the populous?  Maybe study Rome. The decline was much more complex than what went on in the bedrooms of 3 or 4% of the population. It was about greed, political corruption, poor resource allocation (wars instead of infrastructure), excessive violence, etc.

That's also outdated Webb, more like 25% today, and still trending up.

Kids highschool had a day of celebration last year for having over 50% of their school declare to identify as lgbtq+

Though I'd say a lot of it in HS is the simple fact that it is trendy and cool to have a letter to identify with. While being a 'normy' is lame.

According to an ESPN report Sunday by Jeff Passan, blame for the debacle has been leveled at supplier Nike.

Player complaints about see-through pants that allow undergarments and body parts to be visible beneath the garb, manufactured by Fanatics, will also be addressed.

The outlet cited a memo sent to players by the Major League Baseball Players Association that detailed the planned changes will include larger letters on the backs of the jerseys, fixing mismatched gray tops and bottoms and addressing Nike jerseys’ tendency to collect sweat.

It's funny, still not gonna get me to watch MLB though ;)

Nope. Actually read what AU was acused of , and realize that Dye was not implicated in those charges, and then know where they came from ......it was for freaking food . Now we got generational wealth.

food was part of it, also money and cars/parts.

Dye was never fully proven to be one of the coaches handing out the cash, but was implicated strongly. Dye always denied it, claiming his fault in it was simple negligence.

And it very well could have been. But again, that's all a moot point to a kid.

I made the list earlier tongue in cheek cause I know what he did for Auburn, I understand his accomplishments.

But man, if you wanna talk about a personal experience being soured... that first season for me was it.

But also on a TV ban and ineligible for SEC championship.

I swiped this since it is slow.

    Pat Dye 4 SEC titles.
    Tuberville was good.
Chizik only coach ever to win a national title and not have a winning record.

Can't be Shug Jordan he won 1 SEC title in 25 years as head coach. When he did win it in 57 Auburn was on probation and did not even play in a bowl game.

Personally I think it is Coach Dye. what about you folks?

    Gus

    Tubs

    Chiz

    Cadillac

    Dye

    FS boy

    Potato boy

    In that order.

I'm not as old as a lot of you. Only remember Dye as that guy who got a crazy talented Auburn team ineligible by cheating. 🤷‍♂️

Still better than those other two though

Dunno. But this guy was a Heisman finalist, an eyelash from being our 2nd leading all-time passer in just 3 years and a first round draft pick, so it’s kinda insane to complain that we treat him differently than Joey Gatewood. Perhaps the stupidest comparison I’ve ever seen.

    Just to play devils advocate here;

He's also a guy that was a legacy 3 year starter, job in 0 jeopardy, had NIL deals and 4th year starter locked up. Then saw things being kinda sucky with the new HC hire and just said "F Auburn, I'm out"

Don't get me wrong, I understand why he did it, I can appreciate why he did it. His college path to the NFL got much easier after leaving, and Auburn undoubtedly fielded a crappier offense without him.

But as a fan, the proven starters that said screw this I'm gone; hurts.

  19. 2 hours ago, cole256 said:

Yes. He wasn't going to come back and do anything greater statistically that he already put up. The thing holding him back as far as draft is his size. He's not going to get bigger without losing his quickness.

At least now he can pick the team he wants to go for. I think he should go to a team that runs a 3-4 and see what he can do as a d end. I think he can be a major steal if that plays out.

That's what I figure, measurables in combine were decently similar to D Brown, but Brown did it carrying an extra like 40-50lbs.

I don't see him adding that kinda weight without slowing himself down a good bit.
