  1. If we want a defense that is comparable to bama and uga in scheme and to beat them on the field we have to start having bigger, more physical edge guys. 215 pounds OLBs dont match up well with TEs and 330 pounds OTs.
  2. Academic, behavior, or culture change we have to stop losing talent we are able to sign. Handy is a very talented kid. In limited reps, in my opinion, he was one of our better edge players. Stand up edge player or DE, its a big loss. Height and Moultry do not have the upside.
  3. Huge get. Secondary turning into a deep position group and a strength.
  4. Haven’t seen this in the thread yet. Would love to add brooks out of high school and Miller and and a LB or DT from portal. I feel good about our D, will be some bumps learning a new system.
  5. I honestly have no clue. Used to coach DL I should know. I do know playing a 7” is the hardest position to coach and play for a defensive lineman. Your inside guys are used to double teams and reading the guard/center block combos. Defensive ends are not as used to doubles and reading multiple guys, more used to pullers, etc. The logical order could have been changed for that reason not sure. Not a lot of defenses use a 7”. I think of Jim Johnson(eagles) 46 defense when I think of a 7”.
  6. With all the star gazing that goes on( including me), I thought this article may be useful for us as we evaluate this recruiting class. https://n.rivals.com/news/super-bowl-lv-how-chiefs-bucs-starters-ranked-in-high-school Tons of no stars, two stars, and three stars playing for a ring tonight!
  7. Gotcha. We have several LB”s that are too small to play at the line of scrimmage. That could be with their hand down like a DE or in a two point stance like our guys have done in the past. I love Zacoby McClain, dude is a tacking machine. I don’t think we want him lined up where TEs and OTs are responsible for moving him off the line of scrimmage. We have several guys like this
  8. Where do you see our guys currently on the roster playing as far as ILB/OLB. On paper I’m guessing: ILB - Pappoe, McClain, Wooten, Steiner Tisdol, Moultry, Brown OLB/Stud/Edge - Hall, Leota, height, Johnson OLB- Riley, Willis It depends how Mason wants to use our personnel a 3-4 look with one OLB playing more Of a 5” or a true 3-4 where both OLB play a 5” depending on offensive formation. if we play a true 3-4 don’t you think a few inside guys have to learn to be OLB’s?
  9. What’s your thoughts on LB’s? I see us benefiting from adding a quality grad transfer to that group. Especially if we run a true 3-4, I have seen 3-3-5 mentioned also. I would also love for a true NT to enter the portal, but could be hard to find one. My point being if either of those are available I would take just one.
  10. In the rivals article (I know, I know) Hunter said he called the coaches the day he got the offer an committed. It has just been kept silent. That is a good sign for the staff and being able to relate and communicate with recruits. We expected to get him but he did have offers from MSU and Iowa.
  11. Could the flip be a transfer portal guy or we think it’s a High school kid?
  12. Your right, will not be relying on rivals for much info now.
  13. Your right, beginning to realize that. Thanks lol
  14. Rivals has us offering McCaskill, but that could be the old staff.
  15. Just speculating, but the flip may be a RB. Compared to other positions there are several guys still unsigned that are verbal commits.
  16. Based off the film I have been able to see willis and bridges are my two favorite recruits we are pursuing on D. Long, Physical players with a sideline to sideline motor.
  17. Do you see auburn signing 6 DB’s? We already have 3 signed. Just curious.
  18. Bridges looks underrated to me. Good size, good hustle. Mostly importantly you can’t teach physicality and this kid has it.
