  1. Is there any aspect of the offense that has gotten better vs last year?
  2. The O-line opportunities have been well documented. Haven't heard a lot of commentary on no runs outside; well, the A gap...also, it seems all the ball carriers run straight up. If you look back at Mason, Barber and Kerryon, they were very good and getting low and finding the 2-3 when there was nothing. It seemed like no matter what; our guys would run into the wall straightup. Could be selective memory; just don't remember seeing very much of seeing what's there (or not there) and of getting low and pushing into whatever gap might be there.
  3. With Dameyene Craig on Kyle Field...fine Auburn man, family man and a damn good coach. He thinks Jumbo Fisher hung the moon....
  4. That whole area of England is nice...Windsor, Ascot, Virginia Waters, Suningdale are a all great villages with nice folks, great pubs and great places to live....and still close to London and all it has to offer.
  5. Knocking about Windsor today with the wife
  6. Such a great day...when you can get out for a few days with one of the kids, it's a great time.
  7. New bird dog....Dixie joins the family in 2 weeks.....
  8. Wow. I wonder if the AU Administration realizes this? "On paper Auburn should have been the better team but in the end, Auburn was out-coached, and UCF played a more inspired game. "
  9. Good summary....it starts with winning the West...job well done to the staff and team... I didn' give them much of a chance after watching the LSU meltdown. If winning the West and 10/11 games gets you fired, not sure how you ever hire another coach or explain to them what success is...its one thing to shoot for the stars, but when you land on the moon not sure I understand how some can be so unhappy. We have a young coach who can continue to grow and get better. I hope he does. It' easy to poke at game planning issues from last night....that's for another thread....the reality is 2 of our best players put the ball on the ground when we were across midfield on the way to score and we got a kick blocked...that's not coaching....all the things our best talent did against GA and the Bammers earlier that resulted in big wins, they didn' do last night. 3 big mistakes get you beat in crucial games, every time...every time....no matter who is at the helm. Win the bowl game, recruit lights out...win it all next year...
  10. Wow, glad to see some remember Wallace Clark and Mickey Zofko...they were tough ball players...and Unger and Al Giffin (I have a signed picture of him from my youth; a fraternity brother (from my oldest brothers time) .... I guess if we do a compare of best QB's after Sully and Cam, you guys are going to say Loran Carter and Wade Watley :-)
  11. What a great list of amazing running backs. After Bo; I liked James Brooks for sheer will power....I don't guess he ever weighed more than 170 soaking wet; so quick, so fast, versatile (runner, returner and receiver) and he would lower his shoulder and just flat out run thru tacklers...and a long NFL career after Auburn to boot. What a hoot to watch in the same backfield with Cribbs. He's probably my favorite in a list of other GREATS.
  12. I just had both the saddest and most comical conversation with my Mom on Saturdays game....my 86 year old Mom. The conversation started with her heaping praise on the defense. Then it turned to a 15 minute takedown of everything that happened on offense...specific drives where momentum was killed...specific play calls that were baffling.... Now I admit, my Mom is a shrewd football analyst. 86 years.....A cheerleader in the 40s, raised 3 boys one of whom played at Auburn, 2 grandkids at D1 level college and one played in the NFL and when shes able shes even seen two of her grwat grandsons play PopWarner. She has seen a lot of football over the years...but, I think you can understand both the funny and sad parts of this....if she could see the lunacy of our offense, why can't a bunch of guys who are paid collectively about $7m a year see it? How does Gus face this team? What is his boss saying to him today? How do you recover from something this screwed up and amateurish? Who's his replacement? Can we finally get rid of Jacobs now? Will Waffle House stock plummet? Can Gus join CGC at NC? Where is Tony Franklin? I need a scotch. ...
  13. Thanks Stat...I guess you put this out there since scoring a 0 on the offensive scorecard wasn't punishment enough. Just when I didn't think I could feel worse about the season, I read these three stats: Auburn took 71 offensive snaps against Clemson with a quarterback change nearly 40% of the time from the previous play. So it really was as big a cluster as it looked.... Auburn attempted 4 passes on first down and 14 on third down against Clemson. This is not a winning formula for success, with too much pressure being placed on an already questionable quarterback situation. How do you spell predictable? GUS Pick any offensive number above, it really was worse than last year...
  14. I am sure we've had a 0 offensive performance before, but I can't remember a 0....not a single category passed.... well, I'd say it can't get worse, but that is what I said at the end of last year and, hey, look how wrong I was.
  15. I hope Gus decides it's time to spend more time with his family by Monday
  16. Kicker: Rat Riley, All SEC '68 and '69...a fine Christian man as well that has had a lasting impact on campus and the hearts of many Auburn men. He was also the 1st Auburn kicker I can remember that could turn a game around with his kicks. Kicked for big time distance...and long field goals. Showing my age...
