Wichita State has tied the game on errors and wild pitches.

It’s now 6-5 after a Wichita State grand slam because Coach Mickey Mouse threw Emmah Rolfe into the game.

As it stands right now, going into the 7th: Auburn has walked 10 times, struck out 8 times. Auburn is 3-21 as a team (.142), has zero extra base hits today. Howell came in for Wichita State and struck out 5 of our batters, gave up no hits. Stephen F. Austin hit for 3 runs off 3 hits against her in just 2 innings. Little (a lot) worried about this offense. especially since we will likely see Utah’s Mariah Lopez and Clemson’s Valerie Cagle in the matter of days.

Make that 8 strikeouts. We are in for a long season offensively.

This offense is really really bad. 7 Ks and 3 hits on the day. Fortunate that their pitchers aren’t throwing strikes (9 walks).

Wichita State had walked countless batters and the big inning ends on Dean telling Roach to steal home with the bases loaded?? Does he have a functioning brain?

Auburn’s game against Wichita State (initially scheduled for 6pm Friday), has been moved to Wednesday at 4pm. also made this thread for discussion purposes. War eagle.

Mickey Dean is the biggest idiot I have ever seen. Should’ve put Penta in when we took the lead. Instead he puts in two freshmen with zero experience. The dumbest f*cking idiot! All on him, IM OVER IT!!

I want to hear everyone’s thoughts on today’s game. I’m pissed that it looks like we are in for another long season offensively. Lowe worries me because I was hoping she would be closer to her freshman self, that was obviously not the case. We had a chance to win the VT game. I hate that it will go down as 8-1, because it was a lot closer than that. Stupid coaching calls again from Dean/Lenti. (Ex: Packer bunting on 2-0 pitch with runners at first and second and two outs). I HATED THE LINEUP!! - Nelia Peralta is our best bat. BUT SHE IS NOT A LEADOFF. she is not fast enough to be one. (McCrary should also NOT be two-hole. She may be slower than Peralta). - No Abbey Smith or Rose Roach is questionable. - Icess Tresvik was the star today in my books, she looked really good in all of her ABs. - I would pencil in Chalea Clemmons as a starter tomorrow. Just overall frustration. We NEED to beat VT tomorrow, it’s a must win. There is about a 99% chance we see Lemley. i would pitch Penta again, she’s the only chance we got.

So glad softball finally got a third paid assistant and we don’t go hire a hitting coach! Grein strikes out 12…she was a 5 ERA pitcher last year. Pitiful.

Tresvik weak ground out. Lisenby strikeout. Wohlers single. And Packer pops up a bunt on a 2-0 pitch.

Grein was a 5+ ERA pitcher last year. Just struck out the side after Peralta got a leadoff aingle. Not a good start.

Something to keep an eye on. Hitting coach Ken Brooke turned down the Auburn job and is now at BYU. Their first game today:

Just because I love talking auburn softball. I’d have to agree with this lineup. Tresvik, Lisenby, Roach and Smith have to take step-ups this year (you could even put McCrary and Widra in that conversation as well). If Abbey Smith could channel that inner Tiffany Howard that would be great. I’d like to see Roach assume the identity of a slapper more. if you have noticed, she tends to do both slap and swing away. I think Roach putting pressure on the defense is a better look for her because she doesn’t really have HR/2B power. Makayla gaining some of her momentum back would be huge for this team. I really want to see how well these freshmen play against real competition. Clemmons has especially impressed, but Malayna Tamborra was a top 10 recruit out of HS who hit and pitched. anxious, but excited.

I saw that too. Did any of those who said Dean was retiring reveal any of their so-called “sources.” I don’t want to get my hopes if they are just making up stuff or assuming.

Who made Carosone the AHC, Dean or Cohen?

If anyone went today can tell me how the guys looked, would be much appreciated!

If we don’t make supers this year, Dean should not be coaching at Auburn next year. But is Carosone ready to be a head coach?? She hasn’t had experience doing that and she is still so young. If I was AD, I would find someone outside Auburn, though I do love Carosone.

Realized today that Auburn softball has the longest super regional drought in the SEC (Haven’t made it to a super regional since 2017, all 12 other SEC programs have made at least one since 2018). These girls have a lot to prove.

I like her too. My first call would be Kenny Gajewski from Oklahoma State. I think we could land him with some SEC bucks. My second call would be Pete D’Amour from Virginia Tech, but then I’d call Marissa Young if those two couldn’t.
